A multiple phase electronic semiconductor package 10 including a stack of electrically conductive plates 12 with two opposed clamping plates 14, at least one interposed semiconductor component 16 and two side plates 18 flanking the stack. The height of the side plates 18 is a predetermined amount less than the combined height of the conductive plates 12 and semiconductor components 16. Threaded fasteners 20 secure the opposed clamping plates 14 to the side plates 18 causing the opposed clamping plates 14 to abut the side plates 18, and thereby creating a specific clamping force between the conductive plates 12 and semiconductor components 16.

A segregated fluid management system and method is provided for a SDG or IDG system. There is a full case hydraulics (24), a gear case section (19) and a generator section (25). The full case hydraulics section (24) operates completely full of oil. A charge pump (34) draws from the full case (33) inside this section (24) and discharges oil from the case (33) to the pump and motor (26), the servo valve (29), the control piston (30) and the charge relief valve (31). The gear case section (19) is operated as a dry sump by a scavenge pump (17) which keeps the gear case cavity from accumulating an appreciable amount of oil. The scavenge pump (17) removes oil from the gear case section (19) and routes it through a filter (35) to the full case hydaulics section (24). The generator section (25) is conduction cooled and has a pitot pump (40) arranged in an air gap (39 ) between the generator rotor (37) and the stator (38). Oil is evacuated out of the generator section (25) through both the pitot pump (40) and a stator discharge (41) associated with the sump (18) in the gear case section (19).

Segregated fluid management system and method for integrated drive

A speed trimming integrated drive generator 18 includes a differential 24 having inputs coupled to a prime mover 20 and to a wild frequency generator 48, the output thereof being coupled to a main generator 14. In order to control main generator speed, and thus the frequency of the power generated by the main generator 14, resistive load management for the wild frequency generator 48 is utilized. Particularly, a generator control unit 58, responsive to the main generator frequency, selectively couples resistive loads 56 to an output 52 of the wild frequency generator 48 to provide trimming power. Fine tuning of the trimming power is provided by controlling the output voltage from the wild frequency generator 48 responsive to sensed frequency.

Speed trimming integrated drive generator

A generator system having self-build-up characteristics with an integral permanent magnet generator exciter. A rotor shaft is journalled in a housing. A main stator is secured within the housing, and a rotating field is magnetically coupled to the main stator and secured to the rotor shaft for rotation therewith. An exciter field is secured within the housing, and an exciter armature is magnetically coupled to the exciter field and secured to the rotor shaft for rotation therewith. A plurality of permanent magnets are integrally secured to a radially inner periphery of the exciter field immediately adjacent a radially outer periphery of the exciter armature.

An integrated drive generator system in which all of the main components of the system are mounted for operation about a single centerline. A housing mounts a drive input shaft. A differential is coupled to and arranged coaxially of the drive input shaft. A generator is coupled to the differential and includes a rotor coaxially of the drive input shaft. A hydraulic log includes a hydraulic pump and motor assembly coupled to the differential and arranged coaxially of the drive input shaft. An exciter also is employed coaxially of the drive input shaft, surrounding the differential, and a compact cooling system includes cooling passages integral with the housing and in close proximity to the stator of the generator.

Reductions in weight, frontal area and overhang moment in an aircraft engine gear box and electrical generating system are achieved in a construction including a gear box housing 20 provided with an input shaft 16 connectable to a power take-off 12. A differential 76 is disposed within the housing 20 and includes a carrier shaft 72 mounting meshed planet gears 82, 84. The differential includes a control ring gear 88 to mesh with the planet gear 84 and an output ring gear 92 meshed with the planet gear 82. The carrier shaft 72 is coupled to the input shaft 16. A hydraulic speed trimmer 54 is mounted on the exterior of the housing 20 and includes two pump/motor units 124, 128, each having a shaft 108, 110, extending into the housing 20 to be respectively connected to the carrier shaft 72 and the control ring gear 88. A generator 102 is mounted on the gear box housing 20 and includes a shaft 100 extending into the interior 22 of the housing 20 to be coupled to the output ring gear 92.
