A combination includes: (a) a communications module including: a housing; a printed wiring board mounted within the housing; a plurality of RJ-45 jacks mounted on the printed wiring board and accessible from one side of the housing; and a single module connector mounted to the printed wiring board and electrically connected to the RJ-45 jacks, connector being accessible from a second side of the housing; and (b) a cable-connector assembly including: a cable comprising a plurality of subunits, each of the subunits comprising a jacket and a plurality of twisted pairs of conductors positioned within the jacket; and a single cable connector mounted to the printed circuit board and electrically connected to the conductors of the cable subunits. The module connector is attached to the cable connector.

Datacommunications modules, cable-connector assemblies and components therefor

A telecommunications patching system includes: a rear panel, the rear panel including a plurality of cutout areas; a series of central compartments mounted to the rear panel, the central compartments being disposed in adjacent, vertically stacked relationship in at least one column, the rear ends of the central compartments being aligned with at least one of the cutout areas; and at least one series of lateral compartments mounted to the rear panel, the lateral compartments being disposed in spaced apart, vertically stacked relationship and laterally positioned from the central compartments, the rear ends of the lateral compartments being aligned with at least one of the cutout areas. The system also includes at least one central patching module with a plurality of connectors, the central patching module residing in one of the central compartments, the plurality of connectors being oriented to receive a communications cable from a lateral direction, a rear end of the central patching module extending rearwardly through a respective one of the cutout areas; and at least one lateral patching module with a plurality of connectors, the lateral patching module residing in one of the lateral compartments, the plurality of connectors being oriented to receive a communication cable from a lateral direction, a rear end of the lateral patching module extending rearwardly through a respective one of the cutout areas.

Telecommunications patching system with patching modules

A communications cable management system includes a support structure and a door assembly. The door assembly includes at least two first latch structures and at least two second latch structures each selectively positionable in a latched position to secure the door body to the support structure. First and second actuators are operable by a user to selectively latch the latch structures such that a door body is secured in a closed position on the support structure, the door body can be removed from the support structure, the door body can be pivoted open about the first pivot axis, or the door body can be pivoted open about a second pivot axis.

Door assemblies and communications cable management systems including the same

A connector system with a printed wiring board to which a board mounted jack module is attached, and a back plane. The printed wiring board is attached almost perpendicularly to the back plane. Each jack attached to the wiring board has a rotatable end and when engaged with a corresponding plug, a fulcrum is created. The plug when rotated around the fulcrum point achieves a connection, and the ease of the snap-in and the hinging mechanism enable simple and reliable connections to be made. Also included on the jack is a label surface that is on the outward facing surface with all the cord connections occurring behind the label surface.

Board mounted jack module

A protective cable cover separates cable routing from patchcords and cross-connect wire in a wiring trough, and includes a printed wiring board that provides a means for mounting electronic circuitry and components. The cable cover is placed over the cable conductors on a wiring block cable organizer. A circuit designation strip and row marking pads are provided to designate rows and circuit connections. A strike engages a latch on a patchcord plug to releasably retain the plug in engagement with the wiring block. Mounting holes are formed integral with the cable cover to engage latches on the cable organizer for releasably mounting the cable cover on the cable organizer.

An electrical connection system for making patch cord connections that uses a hinged plug and jack mating system, wherein the system utilizes contact/engagement implementations that permit the plug and jack to mate on an arc. Specifically, blade and spring clip connectors are used that also result in low insertion forces and enhanced side to side stability for the patch cord connectors. The blade and spring clip connectors provide improved electrical performance and allow faster and more reliable connections. Moreover, a rotatable end structure is added adjacent to a jack cavity/engagement portion of a modular jack. A complementary rotatable end structure for the plug is also added. The plug is provided with curved engagement surfaces which permit the modular jack to mate in an arc with the plug.

Contacts for hinged connection system

A retention device for the installation of cabling includes a bottom surface for connecting the retention device to a support structure, and a top surface which is integrally connected to the bottom surface at a distance therefrom by an aft surface. The top surface includes at least two cable gripping members which define a passage for selectively housing the cable clusters. The gripping member is defined by a distal edge, a proximal edge and a structural area connecting them. The passage is defined by the distal edge and proximal edge of the adjacent gripping members and an aft edge of the aft surface. The aft edge engages the top surface in an off-set manner sufficiently large to generate clearance for, and reduce bending tension of, cable clusters which engage the retention device during installation. The gripping member further includes a forward end extension, integrally connected to the structural area of the gripping members. The forward extension includes a distal projection extending distally of the passage and a proximal projection extending proximally of the passage. The gripping member forward end extension also includes aft projections integral with the distal and proximal projections, and extending toward the bottom surface. The combination of the proximal, distal and aft projections extends into the open end of the passage enough to create a structure that inhibits the cable clusters from sliding or otherwise selectively exiting the gripping member.

Integral cable retention device

A wiring block mounting bracket for mounting a conductor termination array and wiring block on an industry standard 19 inch Terminal Frame System. For telecommunications and data management systems, the wiring block mount allows the mounting of one to four termination arrays only, without the need for a back panel.

A connector block assembly comprises a connector block body, a conductor element, and an alignment comb, which attaches to the connector block body via a snap-lock assembly. The snap-lock assembly simultaneously locks the three elements, the connector block body, the conductor element, and the alignment comb, securely together at the time of assembly.

An electrical connection system is provided that makes patch cord connections with snap-in jack modules using a hinged plug and jack mating system which results in simple connections with low insertion forces and enhanced side to side stability for the patch cord connectors. The hinged connector keeps the label area clear of cordage while troughs between adjacent rows of connectors accommodate the patch cords and facilitate efficient cable management.

Snap-in module system

An electrical connection system for making patch cord connections that uses a hinged plug and jack mating system which results in low insertion forces and enhanced side to side stability for the patch cord connectors. This system allows the jack and most of the mated plug to be positioned behind the label and have the cordage exit the jack towards the back plane and into the troughs that are between adjacent rows of connectors, instead of out from the connector field. This keeps the label area clear of visual obstructions like cordage and connectors.

Hinged connection system

A patch panel with reverse cordage exit patch cord incorporates a plurality of jacks, with each of the jacks having a plug-receiving cavity formed therein. The jacks are mounted to the patch panel so that their respective plug-receiving cavities are oriented away from the mounting surface to which the panel is mounted. In a preferred embodiment, the patch panel incorporates patch cords with cordage extending from their respective patch cord plugs in a first direction. Each patch cord plug is adapted to matingly engage a plug-receiving cavity of a patch panel jack when the patch cord plug is inserted into the plug-receiving cavity in the first direction. Thus configured, the cordage of the patch cord is directed toward the mounting surface when the plug of the patch cord engages the plug-receiving cavity of the patch panel.

A twenty eight pair cabling system comprises a conductor termination array having twenty-eight pairs of termination ports. The termination array is able to engage seven four-pair cable conductors and seven four-pair connecting blocks. Row marking surfaces have been moved, making room for expanding the prior art termination array by three port pairs. The termination array and cable organizer assembly is the same length as the old wiring block, resulting in increased wiring density.

A wiring block for telecommunications and data management has a combination cable organizer for routing cabling and conductor termination array for wiring connections. A conductor termination array is mounted on the upper edge of a plate. Guide walls extend across the plate front surface, defining channels for directing the cable conductors across the plate front surface for retaining the cable conductors. The cable conductors are sheathed up to the termination array.
