The invention concerns a process for the treatment of wastepaper, carried out for the most at a high consistency of at least 13% in the first stages, beginning the dissolution (soaking) and including a coarse sorting stage. The invention is characterized in that in the case of wastepaper containing a share of at least 40% of deinking wastepaper provided with printing inks the three first process stages, namely in this order of soaking, coarse cleaning and the further extensive dissolution of the wastepaper, take place at a considerable reduction of the wastepaper shreds to the usual speck size at a consistency of at least 13%, and the soaking under considerable addition of dissolving chemicals, and that the wastepaper including essentially all heavy contaminations, such as part of wood, glass, plastic or metal contained in the wastepaper, including pieces of metal straps of the wastepaper bales, is fed to the process.

Process for the treatment of wastepaper using drum soaker

A pressure sorter for a suspension flow includes a cylindrical housing having at least one inlet opening and at least one outlet opening with a defined pressure drop therebetween. A rotationally symmetric screen basket defining an axis is disposed within the housing. The screen basket has a plurality of openings defining a total screen perforation passage area. The axis of the screen basket is positioned offset a distance of 6 to 12% of the diameter of the screen basket. The axis of the screen basket is disposed in a plane which extends through the housing axis and is perpendicular to the housing outlet opening. A rotor and suspension sorting space are disposed centrically within the screen basket. An accepts space is disposed radially outward of the screen basket between the screen basket and the housing. The accepts space has a cross section causing a pressure drop between the suspension sorting space and the accepts space resulting in a suspension flow through the screen openings having a maximum velocity of 2.5 m/s, and a deviation to higher suspension flow velocity values from an arithmetic mean value based on the total screen perforation passage area across the entire screen basket circumference amounting to a maximum of 25% of the mean value.

Pressure sorter

The invention concerns a sorter with at least two screen baskets in a housing unit. The invention is characterized in that with screen basket diameters of at least 600 mm the at least two screen baskets are contained side by side, spaced, in an arrangement such that their longitudinal center axes extend parallel to each other and their end sides or end surfaces are contained each in identical planes extending perpendicularly to the longitudinal center axes of the screen baskets.

A device for the measurement of the diameter of a body such as a cylinder, more particularly in the form of a workpiece on a roll grinding machine, having a contact wheel adapted to run on the surface of the body and a first rotational pickup (angle encoder) centrally coupled with or provided with a the contact wheel, and a second rotational pickup, which is adapted to indicate at least full revolutions of the body. The cylinder is coupled with the second rotational pickup (angle encoder), which like the first rotational pickup has high pulse rate for each measurement operation one respective start pulse and end pulse of one of these two pickups is utilized in order, with corresponding pulses of the other of the pickup, to calculate the diameter of the roll. A computer is provided which, by interpolation in each measurement operation of the registered pulses of at least one of the pickups, produces at least one intermediate pulse series with increments, which are respectively smaller than the fixed increments of the one pickup, of which one corresponds with such accuracy to the one end measurement pulse received approximately simultaneously of the one or normal pulse series of the other rotational pickup.

Device for the measurement of the diameter of cylinders

The bearing segment consists of individual lamella (2) that are parallel to the bearing axis and can be forced on the trunnion of the workpiece by means of hydraulic fluid contained in a piston space. This makes it possible to cover a certain diameter range of the trunnions of the workpieces with a single bearing segment, and modified bearing segments are required only in keeping with the jumps in bearing diameters.

In a pulping apparatus including a pulper with a rotor near the bottom therein, the pulper has a sluice outlet at the bottom for acceptable pulp suspension. Above the rotor at a corner of the pulper is a second outlet for suspension and dirt. A conduit leads from the second outlet to a horizontally oriented withdrawal apparatus chamber having a suspension agitating rotor at the end of the chamber opposite the entrance for pulp thereinto. A tangential outlet from the withdrawal apparatus chamber lead to a rotary, perforated sorting drum which permits exit of acceptable suspension and which has a rejected suspension and dirt outlet. A valve in the inlet to the withdrawal apparatus chamber is periodically and cyclically opened to permit periodic replacement of the suspension in the withdrawal apparatus chamber, and the suspension which has been agitated in the withdrawal apparatus chamber then moves to the sorting drum.

Method for emptying suspension for a pulper

A roll assembly having a roll cylinder, a roll core and pressure transfer elements, which assembly is tightened for a grinding operation by applying hydraulic pressure through the pressure transfer elements and aligning the plane of the hydraulic overall pressure force to reduce to about zero the bearing play in the area of the contact line of the grinding wheel. The roll cylinder is mounted on the roll core through antifriction bearings, and in the finished apparatus, such as a calender, reduction of bearing play will compensate for wall thickness errors in the races of the antifriction bearings.

Filter chambers composed of two adjacent filter disks are attached to a drum-like filtrate collection chamber and are adapted to rotate therewith. The filtrate penetrates the filter disks and enters the collection chamber and thereafter exits the collection chamber through a collection space. The collection space is sealed from the trough by means of a rotating seal. The suspension inlet is provided on a sidewall of the trough and the suspension outlet is provided on the opposite wall of the trough. The disk concentrator serves to remove filtrate from aqueous suspensions containing fibrous components.

Method and device for emptying suspension from a pulper

An arrangement is provided for use in treating suspensions of waste paper in waste paper dressing plants. The arrangement includes a comminuting apparatus which includes a disintegrating rotor wheel which has a transport and disintegrating affect is provided in combination with a pulper device. The disintegrating rotor wheel is adapted to rotate in advance or otherwise in front of a sieve arranged perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the disintegrating rotor wheel and which divides the interior of the comminuting apparatus into a useful fraction compartment and a disintegrating compartment. A conduit tube is provided for connecting the pulper device to the comminuting apparatus and is connected to the pulper device at the bottom, side or center thereof. In this manner, only that portion of the suspension which includes the impurity contents is transported from the pulper device to the comminuting apparatus. The comminuting apparatus thus serves to remove accumulated impurities from the pulper device.

Pulper device

An apparatus for pulping paper into a pulp suspension is disclosed. A vertical container has an upper paper pulping zone and a lower pulp diluting and outlet zone beneath the pulping zone. A narrowed despecking slot communicates between the two zones. A rotor in the container circulates and breaks up the paper in the presence of the liquid in the pulping zone. Ribs on the rotor cooperate with stators in the container for defining the despecking slot. A pulp suspension dilution water inlet communicates into the dilution zone. The outlet from the container also communicates from the dilution zone. A screen protects the outlet from the dilution zone against exit of large particles therethrough and vanes on the rotor clean the screen.

Pulper for producing paper pulp suspensions

The invention concerns a pulp grinder in which feed devices force the wood against the grinder stone and in which there is an elevated level of water in the grinding zone. Sealing devices or plates extend between the walls of the wood-supply chutes or pusher chambers and the grinder stone to keep the water level high only in the grinding zone. The sealing plates are adjustable for controlling the liquid level in the grinding zone.

The disclosure concerns apparatus for disintegrating waste paper and for sorting out fibers to be recovered from the suspension. There is a disintegrating chamber connected by a gravity feed discharge line to a drum type or vibration sorting device. A circulating member disposed in the disintegrating chamber rotates about an axis that is tilted at a small acute angle from the vertical. A screen located beneath the circulating member separates the disintegrating chamber from a discharge chamber beneath the screen. The screen sorts out coarser particles letting only finer suspension paticles pass into the discharge chamber. A first suspension discharge line communicates with the discharge chamber while a second suspension discharge line communicates with the disintegrating chamber immediately above the screen. Both discharge lines empty into each other and lead to the sorting device. Appropriate slides control flow through the two discharge lines. The preferred sorting device is a horizontally oriented, rotatable, perforated drum and the suspension delivered into the drum is screened, with the good suspension being collected and the coarse material being trapped inside the drum to exit from an end.

Waste paper disintegrating, sorting and fiber recovery apparatus

An apparatus for controlling the level and discharge of a suspension or slurry of ground wood in a mechanical wood pulp forming process is described. The apparatus includes, below a wood grinder, a trough in which a slurry of ground wood is formed. The ground wood slurry is passed through a discharge port, which is located near the trough bottom, into a conduit in which a valve is located. The valve is controlled by a slurry level sensor so as to maintain the slurry level at a desired level at least higher than the discharge port. A wood chip cutter is employed at the discharge port and is sized to minimize blockage and facilitate removal of the slurry from the trough. In one form of the invention an apparatus for pressurizing the housing enclosing the wood grinder is described and in another form an open housing structure is shown and described.
