A periodic arrangement of magnets are used to form structures that channel the potential energy that a magnet possesses into kinetic energy in a controlled fashion to perform some useful work or function. One function is to create a magnetic chute that converts the potential energy of a magnetic projectile into kinetic energy that is used to channel the projectile to follow a path achieving high velocities along a path. The path is formed by assembling magnets periodically along the path in a certain fashion to create a magnetic chute that allows the magnetic projectile to slide easily along the path since the projectile is confined by the shape of the magnetic chute.

Theft increases the average product cost to consumers. A mentoring system is presented that can help to reduce or prevent the inventory from lost or theft. Theft is a serious concern in the consumer market place. Industry loses billions per year on theft of merchandise. According to a Reuters report, last year, thefts by employees of U.S. retail merchandise accounted for $15.9 billion, or 44 percent of theft losses at stores, more than shoplifting and vendor fraud combined. Thus, the total thief by the customers and store employees during the year 2008 amounted to $36 billion. Several embodiments of ways to control or reduce the thefts in the market place are presented.

A power saving system comprising a visual monitoring system locating a user, a first end of a link coupled to a first transceiver, a second end of the link coupled to a second transceiver, a component coupled to the first transceiver and the visual monitoring system locates the user being beyond a distance to access the component, whereby the link is deactivated and an overall power usage of the link is minimized. The link is activated when the visual monitoring system locates the user being within the distance to access the component.

An apparatus is described that can monitor the sounds and voices of infants and children in a house by judicially placing nodes in key locations of the home. The network has intelligence and uses voice recognition to enable, disable, reroute, or alter the network. The network uses voice recognition to follow a child from node to node, monitors the children according to activity and uses memory to delay the voices so the adult can hear the individual conversations. An adult that has been assigned privilege can disable all nodes from any node in the network. Another apparatus can locate an individual by voice recognition or sounds they emit including walking, breathing and even a heartbeat. The sound is detected at several microphones that have a specific positional relationship to a room or an enclosement. Triangulations of the time differences of the audio signal detected by the microphones are used to determine the location or position of the audio source in the room. This information can be used to provide an improved audio delivery system to the individual.

Apparatus and method to automatically set a master-slave monitoring system

Location markers are placed on objects presented on a display screen. The location markers can be letters, numbers, or shapes placed near the desired objects to be viewed. After magnification, those earlier determined location markers of the display screen are located off-screen. However, arrows are labeled and point to the off-screen markers. The user moves the background image in the direction of the arrow to find that object. This innovative technique allows the user to mark locations, magnify the image of the map, and find all marked locations (without reverting to a lower magnification) by following pointers that direct the user to locations that are currently out of view of the screen. Furthermore, the user can find all marked locations without getting lost.

A composite webpage contains several webpages coupled together appearing as a separate image. Demarcation lines are used to isolate the boundaries of the edges of each individual webpage. The demarcation lines form block-like geometry. Each block contains one webpage. As the user moves the portable unit, the background composite webpage slides across the screen of the portable device. To the user, the background composite webpage appears stationary as if the screen of the portable unit is transparent. These features are advantageous to social websites, ease of portable device use, in the visitation of websites and email servers. This has several benefits since now relative distances and angular displacements within the plane between objects that are outside of the range of the screen of the handheld unit can be immediately be located and placed into view on the screen of a portable unit.

Each interesting location on a screen of a portable unit is marked by a transparent flag or marker. Then, when the user scales up (magnifies the image) the map to view one of the locations, transparent arrows are placed on the screen identified with transparent location markers indicating the direction the user needs to move to arrive at the remaining locations marked earlier by markers. Either the portable unit can be moved while the map remains stationary or the device remains stationary while the map is moved by the touch screen. By following each transparent arrow, which constantly calculates the new direction as the view of the map changes, the user arrives at the desired location, often in a shortest distance, without getting lost. Once this location is viewed, the user can then proceed to follow a second transparent arrow corresponding to a second desired location. This can be done for each marked location without changing the scale or entering new search data terms since all transparent arrows (markers) can be shown on the screen. An option can exist where the user moves to the marked location immediately by issuing a verbal or physical command.

Plenoptic cameras and eye ports are separable units and can be attached to either the smart phone or to the eyeglasses by a mating surface. These separable units can be wireless coupled to a remote device, to a remote display, to other separable plenoptic cameras, or to other eyeglasses. The separable units can be mated to an eyeglass and positioned over the eye or eyes of the user. In addition, these separable cameras can be electrically wired through the mating device. The cameras can be separated and placed at various distances apart from one another to offer greater flexibility in analyzing the depth of images. These images from these cameras are shared within the system. The smart phone can be in wireless contact with a remote system. The remote system can be another server, the Internet, another smart phone, another camera system, or the camera mounted on the eyeglass.

Method and apparatus for an attachable unit for a portable wireless system

Several transceivers can be combined together to form a relay which can be used to form an ad-hoc network. A computation unit within the ad-hoc network determines the best placement of a new relay to improve the link integrity of the network. Furthermore, a database of power outlets, their locations and whether they contain a relay or not can be utilized to determine a method to improve the links within the ad-hoc network by placing additional relays into unused power outlets. A control unit can be used to configure the transceivers of each relay to enhance data transfer within a given information flow path of the ad-hoc network. The stream of bits can be exchanged with a second stream of bits. The housing unit can also contain the power plugs molded into the unit to allow the unit to be easily inserted into an AC power wall outlet.

Apparatus and method for improving the integrity and performance of an ad-hoc wireless network

Silicon processing technology is used to generate an array of micro messages. These micro messages can contain at least one stick figure, or at least one word, or at least one stick figure and at least one word, or at least one stick figure and a grid mark, or at least one word and a grid mark, or at least one stick figure and at least one word and a grid mark. Steam heating used with conventional heating techniques achieves a rapid boiling point. An intelligent electronic control system which uses sensors placed at various points in the system to monitor and/or control cooking, interacts with the Internet to determine cooking steps, powers embedded electronics in vessels by RF energy, and adjusts the heating temperatures of the contents of the vessel as a function of time. A stove will provide configurable tubes with a coupling unit at their end to attach various steam wands easily moved into position that provide this steam to vessels placed on a grill. Delicate cooking of comestibles can be achieved by maintaining a controlled temperature or cycling the temperature to maximize cooking without losing significant nutrients of the comestibles. Small coupling holes introduce steam at the bottom surface of a vessel to efficiently cook comestibles. The coupling holes have a radius which stratifies the Young-Laplace equation.

A portable unit with an endfire antenna and operating at 60 GHz makes an optimum communication channel with an endfire antenna in an array of antennas distributed over the area of a ceiling. The portable unit is pointed towards the ceiling and the system controlling the ceiling units selects and adjusts the positioning of an endfire antenna mounted on a 3-D adjustable rotatable unit. Several transceivers can be mounted together, offset from one another, to provide a wide coverage in both azimuth direction and elevation direction. These units can be rigidly mounted as an array in a ceiling, apparatus. The system controlling the ceiling array selects one of the transceivers in one of the units to make the optimum communication channel to the portable unit. The system includes the integration of power management features by switching between Wi-Fi in favor of the 60 GHz channel.
