An instrument head is provided for attachment to a plurality of instrument handles having different power profiles. The instrument head contains an illumination assembly including at least one LED as well as a drive circuit for detecting a power profile of an attached instrument handle and converting variable voltages received from the attached instrument handle to a constant current for powering the at least one LED based on the power profile. Accordingly, the instrument head enables use with a plurality of instrument handles, including those originally configured for use only with incandescent light sources.

Physical assessment device

Examples for monitoring impedance of a hydrogel in an electrode. The electrode is applied to a patient to measure impedance through the patient's body. Hydrogel is used to conduct electrical signals between the patient's body and sensing circuitry of the electrode. The impedance of the hydrogel can change over time as the electrode is being worn. When the electrode is applied to a subject, the device measures the impedance of the hydrogel to determine a baseline value. This baseline value can then be used to calculate any necessary impedance corrections over the life of the electrode. Measurements are taken via a separate conductive trace that measures only impedance through the hydrogel and not from the patient's body. This allows for more accurate impedance readings to be taken with the electrode.

Extended wear electrode baseline determination for wearable device

A therapeutic wrap includes a flexible member configured to wrap around an affected area. Actuators are operably coupled to the flexible member. Each actuator is operable between a deployed state and a non-deployed state. A first coupling feature is disposed proximate a first edge on a first surface of the flexible member. A second coupling feature is disposed proximate a second edge on a second surface of the flexible member. The first coupling feature is configured to engage the second coupling feature when the flexible member is wrapped around the affected area and when the flexible member is slidably adjusted relative to the affected area. A retaining feature is coupled to at least one end of the flexible member and configured to retain the flexible member in a selected position on the affected area.

A male bayonet connector includes a first shaft having a first distal end portion having a first sealing surface configured to form a substantially fluid-tight seal with a female connector, a first proximal end portion opposite the first distal end portion, a first lumen extending substantially along a first longitudinal axis of the first shaft from the first distal end portion to the first proximal end portion, and a first channel formed on an outer surface of the first shaft between the first sealing surface and the first proximal end portion. The first channel at least partially extends circumferentially around the first longitudinal axis. The first channel is also defined by a first distal wall, a first proximal wall opposite the first distal wall, and a first central region extending from the first distal wall to the first proximal wall. The first distal wall includes a first axial length that is at least one of curved or at an acute angle relative to the first longitudinal axis.

Connector for medical equipment

A wearable health management system includes a flexible member configured to be worn on an affected area by a patient. At least one actuator is operably coupled to the flexible member. The at least one actuator is configured to be adjusted between a deployed state and a non-deployed state. At least one of a photoplethysmogram sensor and a bioimpedance sensor is coupled to the flexible member to obtain one or more health metrics from the patient. A controller is in communication with the at least one actuator. The controller is configured to adjust the at least one actuator to the deployed state to provide a selected pressure to the affected area.

Devices, systems, and methods for patient sensing include a patient sensor having a light diffuser arranged to provide a light field in which photoelectric sensors can be positioned to provide enhanced detection of physiological parameters of the patient. The light diffuser is connected with a sensor baffle to assist in avoiding interference.

Patient photosensor

A wearable device for sensing vital signs includes a housing defining an interior cavity. An optical unit is positioned inside the interior cavity. The optical unit includes one or more light emitters that emit optical signals, at least one polarizer orientated to block optical signals having a predetermined polarity direction, and one or more light sensors that receive optical signals that pass through the at least one polarizer. An acoustic unit is positioned inside the interior cavity, and has a microphone to receive acoustic signals that enter into the interior cavity. The acoustic signals are used to non-invasively estimate blood pressure.

A vital signs monitor includes a subject wearable first cleat having a first sensor opening and a pair of laterally spaced apart first electrodes. The monitor also includes a subject wearable second cleat having a pair of laterally spaced apart second electrodes. An equipment housing is removably attached to or attachable to the first and second cleats. The housing has a first sensor pocket which registers with the first sensor opening. The monitor also includes a first sensor aligned with the first sensor opening and the first sensor pocket.

Modular vital signs monitor

A physiological parameter sensor system includes a housing with a first cell and a plurality of second cells. A first sensor system element (either an emitter or a detector) resides in the first cell. Second sensor system elements reside in at least some of the second cells. If the first sensor system element is an emitter, each second sensor system element is a detector, and vice versa. The housing is conformable to the contours of a patient to ensure that the sensor system elements are closely coupled to the patient's skin. The system identifies the emitter which yields the best quality signal at the detector (or the detector which receives the best quality signal from the emitter). The system then uses only the identified emitter/detector pair. The system is compact, places only modest demands on battery power, and tolerates being positioned at a nonoptimal locations on the patient's body.

Compact, energy efficient physiological parameter sensor system

A vital signs monitor includes an equipment housing defining an equipment compartment, a circuit assembly and a battery residing inside the equipment compartment, an electrical connector forming a connection between the battery assembly and the circuit assembly, and a battery discharge circuit. A retainer joined to the equipment housing retains the battery assembly in the housing. The retainer is separable from the housing so that its separation causes a break in the electrical connection and activates the discharge circuit.
