In a process for recording into a rewritable recording medium of a non-contact type, when adjacent lines or adjacent overlapping lines are drawn by scanning the medium having a reversible heat sensitive color developing layer on a substrate with laser light and a second lineis drawn after a first lineis drawn, the time between the start of drawingand the end of drawingand/or the width of the overlapped portion r is controlled as the means for suppressing discoloration of the recorded lines by interference between heat remaining afterhas been drawn and heat generated whileis drawn. When characters, bar codes, solid images or figures are drawn into a rewritable recording medium of the non-contact type by scanning with laser light, excellent readability and visibility of the bar codes can be obtained in recording a plurality of line elements.

A structure formed of a resin material with a built-in recording medium comprising at least a means for rewriting visible information with a laser light in a non-contact manner; a laminate comprising the structure and a method for recording in the non-contact manner using the structure or the laminate are disclosed. A method for using a rewritable thermal label of the non-contact type which comprises recording and erasing information repeatedly in accordance with a non-contact method on a rewitable thermal label which remains attached to an adherend. The label contains (a) an anchor coat layer comprising a crosslinked resin, (b) a heat-sensitive color development layer, (c) a light absorption and a photo-thermal conversion layer and (d) an adhesive layer. The layers (a), (b), (c) and (d) are laminated on a first face of a substrate successively. The anchor coat layer is placed next to the substrate. The layer (c) is an outermost layer. The adhesive layer is placed on a second face of the substrate.

Method for using a rewritable thermal label

A method for recording and erasure of images using a rewritable thermal label of the non-contact type which enables complete elimination of residual images after the erasure and repeated rewriting. The absorptivity of laser light used for the recording with the surface of the label is 50% or greater, the laser light irradiating the surface of the label for the recording has a wavelength of 700 to 1,500 nm and an amount of energy of irradiation of 5.0 to 15.0 mJ/mm, the product of the amount of energy of irradiation of the laser light and the absorptivity of the laser light during the recording is 3.0 to 14.0 mJ/mm, and the product of the amount of energy of irradiation of the laser light and the absorptivity of the laser light with the surface of the label during the erasure is 1.1 to 3.0 times as great as the corresponding product during the recording.

A rewritable thermal label of the non-contact type which comprises an anchor coat layer comprising a crosslinked resin, a heat-sensitive color development layer and a light absorption and photo-thermal conversion layer which are laminated on one face of a substrate successively, the anchor coat layer being placed next to the substrate, and an adhesive layer placed on the other face of the substrate and allows recording and erasure of information repeatedly in accordance with the non-contact method; and a method for using a rewritable thermal label of the non-contact type which comprises recording and erasing information repeatedly in accordance with the non-contact method on the rewritable thermal label which remains attached to an adherend. Information can be recorded and erased repeatedly on the label which remains attached to the adherend and the label can be recycled together with the adherend.

There are disclosed a pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet which comprises a substrate sheet, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer formed on one side of the substrate sheet and a release layer comprising a cured product from an ionizing radiation-curing type releasable resin formed on the other side of the substrate sheet; and a laminate which comprises a plurality of these pressure-sensitive adhesive sheets that are superimposed on one another so that the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and the release layer directly face each other and the whole surfaces of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layers are covered with the release layers. The above pressure-sensitive adhesive sheets and the laminate formed therefrom can be produced with good workability with a simplified apparatus without the generation of curls, and thus are well suited for use as display labels etc.

The recording medium comprises: a recording sheet; an adhesive layer provided on one side of the recording sheet; and a release sheet provided on the adhesive layer, the recording medium having a Gurley stiffness of 200 to 1500 mgf, the adhesive layer comprising a crosslinked acrylic polymer, the recording medium being such that, in a holding power test according to JIS-Z-0237, the time taken for causing a test piece of the recording medium to drop from an adherend is 500 min or more, or when the time taken for causing a test piece of the recording medium to drop from an adherend is less than 500 min, the test piece drops as a result of coming off at the interface between the adherend and the adhesive layer.
