A vehicle display device includes a housing that includes an opening and a first wall, in which the housing is attached to a vehicle in an orientation in which the opening faces an upper side in a vertical direction of the vehicle, and the first wall faces a rear side in a front-rear direction of the vehicle, an image display device, and a transparent cover. The first wall includes a pinch part pinched by one hand of an operator. The pinch part includes a first recessed portion and a second recessed portion, which are spaced apart from each other. The first recessed portion is recessed toward the second recessed portion. The second recessed portion is recessed toward the first recessed portion.

Vehicle display device

A slide member is made of an aluminum alloy and compositely reinforced at its sliding surface by a reinforcing material. The reinforcing material is a mixture of alumina short fibers consisting of not less than 80 wt. % alumina and the remainder silica and having 5-60 wt. % alpha alumina content, and non-spherical mullite particles consisting of 40-86 wt. % alumina and the remainder silica and having 3-60 microns mean diameter. The volumetric percentages of the alumina short fibers and the mullite particles are 2-12% and 5-25%, respectively, on the basis of the volume of the reinforced portion.

Slide member made of an aluminum alloy

A high-strength aluminum alloy having good porthole extrudability is provided. It has a Vickers hardness Hv of not less than 40 as measured in a homogenized state created by heat treatment before extrusion and a Vickers hardness Hv of not less than 20 imparted by plastic working after the heat treatment.

Process for improving the extrudability of high-strength aluminum alloys

The present invention relates to a process for producing a superplastic aluminum alloy capable of being used for plastic working such as extrusion, forging and rolling. An object of the present invention is to provide an ingot-made high speed superplastic aluminum alloy in which superplasticity is developed at a strain rate higher than that of conventional static recrystallization type superplastic aluminum alloys, and a process for producing the same. The superplastic aluminum alloy of the invention has structure which is obtained by adding to a basic alloy containing from at least 4.0 to 15% by weight of Mg and from 0.1 to 1.0% by weight of one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Mm, Zr, V, W, Ti, Ni, Nb, Ca, Co, Mo and Ta, and further selective elements of Sc, Cu. Li, Sn, In and Cd, which contains from 0.1 to 4.0% by volume fraction of spheroidal precipitates of intermetallic compounds having a particle size from 10 to 200 nm, and which has a mean grain size from 0.1 to 10 .mu.m.

Superplastic aluminum alloy and process for producing same

The present invention relates to a process for producing a superplastic aluminum alloy capable of being used for plastic working such as extrusion, forging and rolling. An object of the present invention is to provide an ingot-made high speed superplastic aluminum alloy in which superplasticity is developed at a strain rate higher than that of conventional static recrystallization type superplastic aluminum alloys, and a process for producing the same. The superplastic aluminum alloy of the invention has structure which is obtained by adding to a basic alloy containing from at least 4.0 to 15% by weight of Mg and from 0.1 to 1.0% by weight of one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Mm, Zr, V, W, Ti, Ni, Nb, Ca, Co, Mo and Ta, and further selective elements of Sc, Cu, Li, Sn, In and Cd, which contains from 0.1 to 4.0% by volume fraction of spheroidal precipitates of intermetallic compounds having a particle size from 10 to 200 nm, and which has a mean grain size from 0.1 to 10 .mu.m.

Aluminium borate whiskers by which a composite material having a higher strength than ever is available by definitely suppressing a generation of spinel along the surface of the whiskers are prepared by heating aluminium borate whiskers bearing a r-alumina surface layer in an atmosphere of ammonia gas or ammonia gas and a hydrocarbon gas such that a layer of a nitro-oxide and oxide of aluminium is generated along the surface of the whiskers.

Very fine TiC whiskers having a mean diameter smaller than 1 micron are generated by pellets including Ti powder and graphite powder being added to a molten mass of pure Al or an Al alloy, or by a graphite powder being added to a molten mass of an Al alloy containing Ti, with argon gas being blown into the molten mass so as thereby to generate TiC whiskers in void spaces formed in the molten mass by bubbles of the gas. When the molten mass with the TiC whiskers thus formed therein is compressed, the interstices of the TiC whiskers generated in the void spaces are filled with the molten metal so as thereby to form colonial composite material portions dispersed in the molten mass, thus providing a metallic composite material reinforced by very fine TiC whiskers. The density of the colonial composite material portions can be increased by applying a filtering process to the molten mass.

A high strength aluminum alloy is expressed by a general formula, Al.sub.a X.sub.b Mm.sub.c, in which 'X' stands for at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu and Zr, 'Mm' stands for a misch metal, a content 'a' of aluminum falls in a range of from 95.2 to 97.5 atomic %, and a content 'b' of 'X' and a content 'c' of the 'Mm' fall in a hatched area enclosed by points 'A,' 'B,' 'C' and 'D' of accompanying FIG. 1 on atomic % basis, and whose metallic phase includes microcrystalline phases or mixed phases containing amorphous phases in a volume content of less than 50% and the balance of microcrystalline phases. As a result, the amorphous phases or the microcrystalline phases are dispersed uniformly in its base microcrystalline phases appropriately, and at the same time the thus generating base microcrystalline phases are reinforced by forming solid solutions including the 'Mm' and the transition metal element 'X' as well. Hence, the high strength aluminum alloy comes to have a low specific gravity and a high strength which have not been available from conventional Al amorphous alloys.

A TiAl intermetallic compound source and a boride which is less stable than TiB.sub.2 are mixed and melted, followed by solidification to form a TiB.sub.2 -dispersed TiAl-based composite material in which the TiB.sub.2 is contained in an amount of 0.3 to 10% by volume. In this process, the dispersed TiB.sub.2 particles become very fine, so that the hardness as well as the elongation and bending strength of the TiAl material are improved by the finely dispersed TiB.sub.2 particles.

In order to produce easily and at low cost a metallic composite material incorporating metal carbide particles dispersed therein such that fine TiC particles and/or ZrC particles are uniformly dispersed in a matrix of Al or Al alloy, first, a pellet (16) is formed from Ti powder and/or Zr powder (10), graphite powder (12) and Al or Al alloy powder (14), then the pellet is infiltrated with molten Al or Al alloy, and thereafter the pellet is heated up to 1000.degree.-1800.degree. C. in an inactive atmosphere, so that TiC particles and/or ZrC particles are generated in the pellet. Then the pellet is dissolved in a molten bath of Al or Al alloy.
