To enhance a sound image localization effect and to ensure a good viewing state in which an image or video and audio have a sense of unity. Provided is a display in which an image is displayed in a display surface, a rear cover disposed on a rear side of the display, a first speaker disposed between the display and the rear cover, and a second speaker disposed between the display and the rear cover and positioned higher than the first speaker. The second speaker outputs audio according to operation of a piezoelectric element, and has a higher audio output band than the first speaker. This enables a user to feel as if the audio is being output from the display being viewed, which enhances the sound image localization effect and ensures a good viewing state in which an image or video and audio have a sense of unity.

Manufacturing method for field emission display

A CRT electron gun of the present invention has a cathode for emitting electrons toward a screen as a display face, a G electrode to which a voltage higher than that of the cathode is applied, a Gm electrode to which a predetermined voltage is applied, and a G electrode to which a voltage higher than that of the G electrode is applied, wherein at least those three electrodes are provided with an electron-passing opening and are arranged on the same axis in that order from the side of the cathode, and the potential of the aforementioned cathode is varied to vary the amount of electrons to be drawn; and in this, a configuration is made such that the lowest potential on the axis in a portion where the aforementioned Gm electrode exists substantially agrees with the maximum potential in a range where the potential of the aforementioned cathode varies, and a part of the electrons drawn from the aforementioned cathode flows into at least one of the aforementioned G electrode and the aforementioned Gm electrode.

An electron gun provides an improved focusing characteristic of electron beams surely and effectively, and permits position alignment to be relatively easy in assembling thereof. In an electron gun which includes a cathode for discharging electrons and a plurality of grids each having electron passing-through holes for guiding the electrons discharged from the cathode unidirectionally, an electron dischargeable region is formed in an electron discharging plane of the cathode, which is band-shaped. In addition, the length of the band-shaped area constituting the electron dischargeable region on its shorter side is less than 80% of the diameter of the area from where electrons are discharged when a practical maximum current is taken out without limiting the electron dischargeable region.

Image display apparatus

A flat display apparatus is disclosed which includes a grid interposed between and spaced apart from control electrodes and an electron source. The grid which includes holes has a higher potential applied than the one applied to a cathode so as to enable electrons to pass through the holes. An additional grid may be interposed between and spaced apart from the grid and the control electrodes. Alternatively, a rear electrode is located between adjacent porous cover electrodes to connect them, and a second rear electrode is located near the rear electrode and has a lower potential applied than the one applied to the cover electrodes.
