A press-fit terminal is provided with a press-fit portion including two contact pieces facing each other across an eye hole. Each of the two contact pieces includes a parallel portion in parallel to that of the other contact piece, a front spring portion and a rear spring portion. A thickness of the press-fit portion is 0.75 mm or more and 0.85 mm or less. When G[mm] and G[mm] denote cross-sectional secondary moment of area per unit length of the front spring portion and cross-sectional secondary moment of area per unit length of the rear spring portion for the press-fit portion, G+Gis 0.030 or more and 0.080 or less. Further, when θ denotes a gradient of the front spring portion with respect to an inserting direction of the press-fit portion, Gtan θ is 0.0024 or more and 0.0070 or less.

Press-fit terminal and connector device

A press-fit terminal includes a press-fit portion including two contact pieces facing each other with an eyehole interposed therebetween, where each of the two contact pieces includes a parallel portion, a front spring portion extending from the parallel portion in a direction in which the press-fit portion is inserted, and a rear spring portion extending from the parallel portion in a direction opposite to the direction in which the press-fit portion is inserted, the two parallel portions being parallel to each other, a thickness of the press-fit portion is 0.3 mm or more and 0.5 mm or less, when a length of the eyehole is Le [mm] and a length of the parallel portion is Ls [mm], Ls/Le is 0.57 or more and 0.65 or less, and when front spring strength is G[mm] and rear spring strength is G[mm], G/Gis 0.55 or more and 1.45 or less.

An object is to, for physical properties, holding force, contact area, and insertion force in a trade-off relationship, set the holding force to 37 N or more, the contact area to 0.72 mm2 or more, and the insertion force to 90 N or less. A press-fit terminal is to be press-fitted into a through hole formed in a circuit board. A press-fit part includes a beam and an eye hole that is surrounded by the beam. The beam includes two parallel parts that are parallel to each other. In the press-fit part, G1/G2 is 0.20 or more and 1.05 or less where a front-side spring strength is G1 [mm3] and a rear-side spring strength is G2 [mm3] calculated under the following conditions, and G is 0.007 mm3 or more and 0.012 mm3 or less where a spring strength G [mm3] is G1+G2.

Press-fit terminal, connector for board, and board-equipped connector

It is aimed to prevent a reduction of contact reliability. A card edge connector (A) includes a first housing () formed with a board accommodation space () open forward, terminal fittings () provided in the first housing () and formed with resilient contact portions () projecting toward the board accommodation space (), a second housing () including a circuit board () to be inserted into the board accommodation space () from front of the first housing (), and guide slopes () made of synthetic resin, provided to cover a leading edge of the circuit board () in an inserting direction into the board accommodation space () and inclined with respect to the inserting direction into the board accommodation space ().

Card edge connector and method for manufacturing same

A circuit board connector housing () includes slide contacts () arranged before contact areas () of detecting terminals (A) with respect to a connecting direction. The slide contacts () contact touching portions () of shorting terminals () during a connecting operation of two housings (). The slide contacts () remove foreign matter from the touching portions () during the connecting operation of the two housings (). Thus, extra efforts to remove foreign matter are not needed before the housings () are connected. The absence of foreign matter on the touching portions () achieves good quality contact with the contact areas () of the detecting terminals (A) and assures reliability of a connection detecting function.

Connector, a connector assembly and an assembling method therefor

With a pair of housings () connected, a lever () provided in a female housing () is prevented from separating from a male housing () at two positions, i.e. at an engaged position of a cam follower () and a cam groove () and an engaged position with a preventing portion (). These two separation preventing positions are separated in a direction normal to connecting and separating directions of the female housing () to prevent inclinations of the two housings ().

Connector of the movable member type

A connector has female and male housings (). A cam pin () projects from the male housing (), and a jaw () bulges out at the end of the cam pin (). A lever () is mounted to the female housing (), and has a cam groove () for engaging the cam pin (). A step () in the cam groove () defines an accommodating portion () for the jaw (). The depth of the accommodation portion () is larger near the entrance of the cam groove () so that the jaw () initially is accommodated loosely. However the depth of the accommodating portion () is smaller towards the back of the cam groove () to prevent loose movements.

Connector, connector assembly and assembling method

A shielded connector assembly has first and second housings (). The first housing () has a fitting space () formed with coupling ribs (). A shielding shell () is in the fitting space () and has slits () that receive the coupling ribs (). A preventing groove () is formed in a peripheral surface of a fitting space () and receives a projection () of the second housing () when the housings () are connected properly. The preventing groove () is aligned with the slit () so that the slit () also receives the projection (). Thus, it is unnecessary to form a separate notch to receive the projection ().

Shielded connector, mating shielded connector and shielded connector assembly

A connection shell () includes a tubular fastener () formed by flat surfaces () and curved surfaces () and a rectangular tubular contact (). A crimp ring () is crimped to fasten a wire shield () to the outer peripheral surface of the tubular fastener (). The tubular contact () is connected so that a circumferential surface thereof overlaps a circumferential surface of a housing shell (). The tubular contact () has a rectangular shape that conforms with the rectangular tubular shape of the housing shell (). Thus, only a small clearance is defined between the housing shell () and the connection shell () to suppress leakage of noise through the clearance between the housing shell () and the connection shell ().

Shielded connector

A female connector () has a lever () in the form of a single plate. The lever () is locked at an initial position by a resilient lock () before a connecting operation with a male connector (). An unlocking rib () projects from the ceiling surface of a receptacle () of the male housing () near one side for canceling the locked state of the resilient lock () during the connecting operation. An insertion preventing rib () projects from the inner surface of the receptacle () at a side opposite the unlocking rib (), and an escape groove () for receiving the insertion preventing rib () is formed in the upper surface of the lever (). Thus, the female connector () can be prevented from being inserted in a wrong posture.

Connector

A split-type connector () has a holder () and auxiliary connectors () that can be mounted in the holder (). A retainer () is mountable in the holder () and can be moved from a first position where the auxiliary connectors () can be mounted in the holder () and a second position where the auxiliary connectors () are locked. The retainer () has returning slanted surfaces () for pushing the retainer () from the second position to the first position in the process of mounting auxiliary connectors () into the holder ().

Split-type connector and connector assembly

A lever-type connector ( ) has a frame-shaped holder ( ) for accommodating auxiliary connectors ( ). A lever ( ) is mounted on the holder ( ) and is adapted to connect the lever-type connector ( ) and a male connector ( ) by cam action effected as the lever ( ) is rotated. The lever ( ) extends along only one wall surface of the holder ( ). Thus, wires ( ) and the lever ( ) are unlikely to interfere with each other. Further, the lever ( ) is accommodated in a recess ( ) of the holder ( ) and is held from opposite sides along a direction of the rotational axis. Thus, the lever ( ) will not deform along the direction of the rotational axis and will not detach from the holder ( ).

Lever-type connector

A connector assembly has a split-type connector ( ) configured for insertion into a receptacle ( ) of a mating connector ( )i. The split-type connector ( ) has a holder ( ) and auxiliary connectors ( ) that can be mounted in the holder ( ). A retainer ( ) is mountable in the holder ( ) and can be moved from a first position where the auxiliary connectors ( ) can be mounted in the holder ( ) and a second position where the auxiliary connectors ( ) are locked. The receptacle ( ) has dovetail grooves ( ) and the holder ( ) has dovetail ribs ( ) that engage to prevent the receptacle ( ) from deforming away from the outer surface of a holder ( ).

A lever-type connector assembly has mating female and male connectors ( ). The female connector ( ) has a lever ( ) with a cam plate ( ) and a resilient lock ( ) that is deformable within the plane of the cam plate ( ). The resilient lock ( ) engages a receiving portion ( A) on the female connector ( ) for holding the lever ( ) at an initial position. The connector ( ) has an unlocking rib ( ) that deforms the resilient lock ( ) out of engagement with the receiving portion ( A). As a result, the lever ( ) can rotate for connecting the connectors ( ). Since the resilient lock ( ) deforms in the plane of the cam plate ( ), there is no need to provide space for deformation of the resilient lock ( ) along a thickness direction of the cam plate ( ).

Lever-type connector assembly

A lever ( ) of a connector assembly is in the form of a single plate, and a resilient lock ( ) for locking the lever ( ) at a connection completing position and a finger placing portion ( B) used to rotate the lever ( ) are adjacent to each other at one end of the lever ( ). The resilient lock ( ) extends along the plane of the lever ( ) and is resiliently deformable along a direction normal to the plane. Thus, a larger area can be secured for an unlocking portion ( B) of the resilient lock ( ) without increasing the thickness of the lever ( ), thereby providing good unlocking operational efficiency.
