An electrical connector reduces backlash of the retainer in a main locking state and increases the rigidity of the front plate of the retainer, while providing dimensional stability, and preventing warpage of the locking arms. The electrical connector comprises a front insertion retainer that is locked to the housing in a temporary locking position and in a main locking position. The retainer comprises a front plate having contact passage holes, and locking arms extending rearward from the upper and lower ends of the front plate. A strip extends in the direction of length and protrudes rearward from the center on the back surface of the front plate, and a recessed groove extends on the front surface of the front plate in a position corresponding to the strip. The housing has a recessed groove that mates with the strip when the retainer is in the main locking position.

Electrical connector

An electrical connector includes an insulating housing and a retainer. The housing has a plurality of contact accommodating cavities. The retainer is moveable between a temporary locking position and a main locking position. The retainer has first retainer arms that extend into a front surface of the housing. The first retainer arms have a second locking member formed on a top surface in a vicinity of a free end of the first retainer arms and a third locking member formed on a bottom surface in substantially a center of the first retainer arms. The second and third locking members are configured to abut the housing in the temporary locking position so that the retainer is prevented from moving from the temporary locking position to the main locking position.

An electrical connector comprises a retainer that is inserted from the front surface of the connector housing and locked to the housing in a temporary locking position and in a main locking position, wherein the state of the retainer in the main locking position can easily be confirmed by visual inspection or by using an inspection probe. The retainer has main locking arms comprising main locking projections which prevent the retainer from being pushed in when the retainer is in the temporary locking position, and which prevent the retainer from being pulled out when the retainer is in the main locking position. The main locking projections are exposed through the housing when the retainer is in the main locking position. The housing has supporting parts that support the back surface of the main locking arms in the vicinity of the main locking projections when the retainer is in the main locking position.

An electrical connector comprises an insulating housing having a plurality of contact accommodating cavities extending from a front side to a rear side of the housing. Each of the contact accomodating cavities has a first probe receiving opening formed adjacent thereto. A retainer that is moveable between a temporary locking position and a main locking position is attached to the front side of the housing. The contact accomodating cavities are accesible through the first probe receiving openings when the retainer is in the temporary locking position, and the contact accomodating cavities are accesible through second probe receiving openings formed in the retainer when the retainer is in the main locking position.

The present invention provides a crack-free electrical connection structure between electrical components and a circuit board in a connector device by soldering electrical wires to through-holes of the circuit board. Retention members (40) formed integrally with the connector device have slots (36) and channels (58, 62) intersecting inside the slots (36). Projections (54) are located at an exit of each channel (58). Ends of electrical wires (90) are stripped to expose core conductors (92) and they are bent in a generally L-shape to be disposed in the respective channels (58, 62) of slots 36. The projections (54) keep the exposed core conductors (92) in position, thereby simplifying electrical connection with through-holes in the circuit board.

Electrical connection structure of connector device

The object of the present invention is to provide a female contact in which plastic deformation of a spring contact member is prevented. A front wall 30 which faces in the direction of engagement is formed by being bent from a front end of an upper wall 16 of a female contact 10. An insertion opening 32 into which the male contact 40 is inserted is formed in front wall 30. Furthermore, a guide plate 34 is provided to guide the male contact 40 into engagement with spring contact member 28 and to protect member 28 from being deformed.

The locking device 30 is intended for locking contacts 11, and is inserted in the opening 26 made in the side wall 27 of the connector housing 20, which has long and narrow openings 36 made in a back surface 31a of the lower wall 31 of the locking device 30 and extending through its entire width. Inside these openings 36, arms 37 for a fully-locked position are made as an integral part of the locking device which start from the wall in which the openings 36 are formed and extend in a longitudinal direction of the locking device 30. The arms 37 for the fully-locked position are engaged with steps 26a made inside the opening 26, thus preventing extraction of the locking device 30 from the connector housing 20. Reuse of the locking device and increased design freedom for connectors having a locking device inserted through the side wall is therefore possible.

Electrical connector with reusable locking device

The locking device (50) is inserted from a side surface of the housing (10) to secure contacts and has latching arms (60,62) extending outward from one end. In the position of temporary latching of the locking device, tips (60b,62b) of the latching arms project above the surface of flange (26), but they do not extend above the surface in the position of complete latching. Since the width of the latching arms (28,30,32) is almost equal to the width of the guiding grooves made in the flange (26), the locking device can be moved from the temporary latching position to the complete latching position without skewing relative to the housing.

An electrical connector (25) includes a stamped receptacle contact (15) crimped to a wire (17) and fitted into a plastic housing (30) having an interior lance (39) operable to lock the contact within the housing to receive a tab terminal contact inserted within the receptacle contact. A locking part (40) of a thin, flat plastic configuration is inserted within the housing (15) from the front (31), latched therein in a first position allowing contact insertion from the rear (32) of said housing and in a second position wedging the interior lance against displacement to provide a double locking of said contact; projections (43, 44) on the part (40) cooperating with projections (49, 52) on the interior of the housing in latching of said part relative to said housing in the first and second positions.

An electrical connector comprises tab contacts (14) crimped to electrical wires (24) retained in cavities (13) of a dielectric housing (12) with tab sections (14a) of the tab contacts (14) extending from the front ends of the cavities (13), and restraining sections (31) are located at the edges of the front ends of the walls of the cavities (13) and extending in the radial direction of the cavities (13) engaging the tab sections (14a) along surfaces thereof adjacent the base portions thereof to straighten the tab sections (14a) if they have been bent upwardly.
