Provided is a display panel having a high-performance antireflection layer at a low cost. In a liquid crystal display panel or an organic light-emitting diode display panel constituted by a first transparent substrate, a second transparent substrate and a liquid crystal layer between these two transparent substrates further includes an antireflection layer on a portion which is at least one display area and a visible side (outer surface) by a viewer, and layers made of the same material as the antireflection layer formed on at least the opposite side (inside surface) of the surface of the portion corresponding to the display area and on three edge faces.

Each of first electrodes has a width smaller than the width of each of second electrodes in one direction on the plane of a display substrate. The second electrodes are applied with a voltage which is modulated independently on a pixel-by-pixel basis to move electrophoretic particles, thereby displaying an image.

In order to solve the problem that sufficient center brightness is not always obtained in a conventional liquid crystal TV and a liquid crystal monitor, a backlight module of the invention includes a plurality of cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CFL) and a diffusing reflector below, the distance between the respective CFLs is arranged so that a central portion is narrow and an end portion is wide, and the backlight module includes a triangular sectional projection structure on at the diffusing reflector only between the CFLs between which the distance is the widest, in the end portion. According to the invention, enhancement of the center brightness without increasing consumption power, reduction in the number of CFLs, and cost reduction accompanying it are achieved.

Backlight module and liquid crystal display using the same

A display that has a plurality of charged particles between a pair of substrates and displays images by moving the plurality of charged particles. The display comprises one substrate formed with a pixel electrode; the other substrate that is disposed to face the one surface and is formed with a counter electrode; a plurality of partitions for dividing the gap between the pair of substrates into a plurality of regions; and an insulating layer formed to have an insulating part and openings on the pixel electrode, and displays images by changing the potential difference applied between the pixel electrode and the counter electrode.

A display of an electrochromic type, including an active matrix substrate on which a plurality of pixel electrodes corresponding to pixels are arranged in a matrix form; a counter substrate which is provided with a transparent electrode that is common with respect to a plurality of the pixel electrodes; and an electrochromic material which is sandwiched between the active matrix substrate and the counter substrate, and is colored in a boundary either between itself and the pixel electrode or between itself and the transparent electrode; wherein the pixel electrode other than an electrode-exposed part which contacts with the electrochromic material is covered with a transparent protective film; and the electrode-exposed part has a different area from the area of the part onto which a current generated between the transparent electrode and the pixel electrode concentrates, out of the transparent electrode.

High-definition pixel structure of electrochromic displays and method of producing the same

It is an object of the present invention to implement a display providing high optical efficiency irrespective of the size of a light valve, and capable of enhancing the uniformity of the luminance of an image to be projected. In order to attain the foregoing object, for example, as shown in FIG. , a light valve of a projector is located roughly at the focus point of an illumination lens . Further, as shown in FIG. , a light source is also located roughly at the focus point of the illumination lens . Consequently, it is possible to implement a miniaturized projector.

Picture display device

A directional reflection screen includes a corrugated mirror sheet constituted by a plurality of mirrors, and a lens sheet for diffusing and reflecting rays of light in the direction of ridge lines of the corrugated mirror sheet. The ridge lines of the corrugated mirror sheet intersect the lens lines of said lens sheet at angles other than 90.degree.. The projection display further includes projection means for projecting an image onto the directional reflection screen.

A photoconductive target having a transparent electrode layer and a photoconductive layer on a transparent substrate is disposed opposite to a group of integrated electron beam emitters having gate electrodes. A number of the electron emitters are activated to apply electron beams to the photoconductive target and the activated ones of the electron beam emitters are temporally changed over by an electron emitter selector circuit and a gate selector circuit. Signal charge generated and stored in the photoconductive layer is read. A time-series electric signal corresponding to a spatial distribution of the incident light is generated. A thin imaging apparatus suitable for a larger area is thus provided.
