In an eccentric-drive equipped seat reclining device including a cover having internal teeth, a base member, an external gear having fewer external teeth than a number of the internal teeth, a pair of wedge-shaped members and a guide plate located in an eccentric space between the cover and the external gear, a spring biasing the pair of wedge-shaped members apart from each other, and a driving member for circumferentially pushing the pair of wedge-shaped members, the external gear has a cylindrical protrusion. The base member has a first axially-recessed portion for press-fitting the external gear to the base member, a second axially-recessed portion accommodating the cylindrical protrusion, and a third axially-recessed portion accommodating the spring. Protrusions, formed integral with an annular outer peripheral portion of a backface of the second axially-recessed portion, are fitted to respective recessed portions of a seat-cushion side arm.

A seat reclining device includes a base member formed with a shaft hole; a rotating member including an internal gear; at least three lock members each including an external gear; a shaft portion formed integrally with the base member and including a convex guiding surface for swinging the lock member along a circular orbit; a cam provided with an axially projecting portion passing through the shaft hole; and at least three guide projections formed integrally with the base member. The axially projecting portion includes a centering outer peripheral surface which is slidably in contact with an inner peripheral surface of the shaft hole. The guide projections and the lock members are located alternately in the circumferential direction. Each of the guide projections includes a centering inner peripheral surface provided at inner peripheral side of the guide projection and adapted to slide on an outer peripheral surface of the cam to perform a centering of the cam; and a pair of concave guiding surfaces respectively guiding the adjacent two lock members so as to swing the adjacent two lock members along the circular orbits.

A seat reclining device is comprised of a base member connected to one of a seat back and a seat cushion; a rotating member connected to the other of the seat back and the seat cushion; a lock tooth having an external gear engageable with the internal gear of the rotating member; a shaft portion having an inner-periphery guiding surface for swinging the lock tooth on the shaft portion; and a weak portion formed at an end portion of the lock tooth opposite to the external gear across the shaft portion.

A shaft section is provided is provided having an outer peripheral side guide surface. A cam is provided for having an inner peripheral side guide surface. Each of a pair of guide sections biasing the lock tooth to engage the external gear with the internal gear. The lock tooth has an outer peripheral side slide surface and a contact face. A cam includes a plurality of first locking cams for pressing the second locking cams , disposed in axial symmetry with a rotational axis of the cam , and guiding faces disposed in axial symmetry with a rotational axis of the cam and on a straight line L perpendicular to a line L passing through the first locking cams . A shaft includes coupling portions for transmitting external torque and is press-fitted into the center hole of cam at a predetermined rotational angle.

Reclining device and method for manufacturing the same

A frame has a pivot protruding therefrom. A first gear is rotatable relative to the frame. A cam is rotatable with the first gear. A second gear is between the pivot and the cam. The second gear is engaged with the cam for rotation. The second gear is to be rotated on the pivot, thus to be locked with the first gear. The pivot has smaller mechanical strength than the first gear and the second gear.
