A seat cushion includes an edge portion and a three-dimensional fiber structure including core-sheath fusible fibers and skeletal fibers thermally fused at intersections thereof. The sheaths of the core-sheath fusible fibers are made of a thermoplastic elastomer to fuse the intersections and form a bulging portion at each of the fused intersections. The skeletal fibers and the cores of the core-sheath fusible fibers are made of a non-elastomer resin. The skeletal fibers are crimp-processed bulky fibers, and a fineness of the skeletal fibers and a fineness of the core-sheath fusible fibers are in a range of 1 to 200 dtex. The seat cushion has a layered structure including a plurality of layers fused together, each of the layers has the three-dimensional fiber structure, and the seat cushion has a density distribution based on regional variations of the layered structure and a stiffness distribution that depends on the density distribution.

An exhaust gas cooling system for an engine includes an exhaust gas conduit having an inner tube defining an exhaust gas passage and an exhaust coupler surrounding the inner tube and defining a cooling water passage together with the inner tube therebetween, and a water-lock coupled with a downstream end of the exhaust gas conduit through an exhaust gas conduit coupling section which extends from an upstream end of the water-lock. The exhaust gas conduit coupling section and the exhaust coupler are coupled with each other and the inner tube extends into the interior of the water-lock. A downstream end part of the inner tube can be formed to be a wide portion having a bell mouth configuration. A diameter of the downstream end part becomes larger as a portion thereof exists closer to the end of the downstream end part. The exhaust gas cooling system for the engine can be provided for a water vehicle.

A sealing member can include a radially-working lip which contacts a drive shaft in a radial direction to seal a gap between the drive shaft and the housing in the radial direction, an axially-working lip extending in an axial direction, and a contact member which contacts the axially-working lip to seal the gap between the drive shaft and the housing in the axial direction. A ground wire connecting structure has a joint unit that is mounted to an oil tank. The joint unit has a base body to which bus bars are attached. Connector sections accommodating ground terminals are connected to the bus bars. The joint unit is coupled to a ground surface that is defined by the oil tank. The base body and the ground surface are made of a metal, such as an aluminum alloy. The base body has a contact portion for surface contact with the ground surface. Connector sections, to which external ground wires are fixed, are connected to the external ground wires and the ground terminals. As such, the external ground wires and the ground surface are electrically coupled with each other. The contact portion between the base body and the ground surface is sealed with an O-ring.

A blow-by gas ventilation system particularly suited for use with a small watercraft includes a oil separation chamber preferably disposed within a plenum chamber defined by an air intake box. An inlet tube permits blow-by gases to move from the crankcase chamber of the engine to the oil separation chamber. An outlet allows blow-by gases to move from the oil separation chamber to the plenum chamber. Desirably, an outlet tube connects the outlet to an opening in an intake port of the induction system to discharge blow-by gases into the intake port. The oil separation chamber may be defined by a cover member, along with a portion of the interior surface of the air intake box.

In one mode of the invention, the number of exhaust passages in the engine is less than the number of intake passages. At least one exhaust valve is arranged to selectively connect and disconnect the exhaust passage with the combustion chamber. The intake valves lie closer to the center plane than does the exhaust valve(s).

An induction system for a marine engine is provided. The induction system selectively provides additional intake air to the watercraft when a rider docks the watercraft. The additional intake air provides docking thrust to the watercraft, enabling the rider to more easily maneuver the watercraft during a docking maneuver, for example.

The induction system includes improved filtration, and accessibility characteristics. The air induction system can include a plenum chamber member defining the plenum chamber. The air induction system can also include one or more throttle bodies within the plenum chamber to allow the construction of a large plenum chamber. The plenum chamber member is can comprise at least three parts with at least one part being disposed substantially above the spark plugs and being removable. The air induction system can also include an air filter having a water repellent element and an oil-resistant element arranged such that a flow of air entering the combustion chambers passes through both the water repellent and oil-resistant elements.

An engine for a watercraft includes an improved air induction system that can have a large plenum chamber notwithstanding being placed in a narrow engine compartment. The air induction system includes a plenum chamber member defining the plenum chamber. The plenum chamber member has an air inlet port for the plenum chamber. The air induction system also includes one or more throttle bodies. The throttle bodies have throttle valves admitting air to one or more combustion chambers from the plenum chamber. The throttle bodies are disposed within the plenum chamber. The construction of the air induction system not only provide a large capacity plenum chamber, but also protects the throttle bodies from water.

Engine for watercraft

An engine for a small watercraft, having an exhaust system that extends from an engine body and then generally surrounds the engine body. An air chamber of an air induction system for the engine, which has a relatively large volume, is located under the exhaust system. An exhaust manifold of the exhaust system has a slant opening, from which the other components of the exhaust system extends. A single, rigid coolant delivery conduit is affixed to the exhaust manifold so that a coolant jacket therein can be supplied with coolant through the delivery conduit. A plurality of carburetors each having a throttle valve are provided for the engine. A control mechanism for controlling an opening of the throttle valves is positioned at one side of the carburetors, while an interlocking mechanism for activating the throttle valves synthetically is positioned at another side of the carburetors.

A watercraft has an exhaust system. The exhaust system has a first portion cooled by cooling jackets and a second portion cooled by merged flow. The first portion is coupled to the second portion with a flexible coupling having an undulating surface. An overheat detection system is positioned proximate the flexible coupling. The overheat detection system is arranged to detect a rapid increase in temperature resulting from a blocked cooling jacket. During periods of normal operation, a first temperature reading is detected. During periods of abnormal operation, a rapid increase in temperature indicates a sudden decrease in cooling water within the cooling jacket. Warning signals are emitted to the operator by an overheat prevention unit to advise the operator of the condition.

The exhaust system can also include an exhaust passage which extends from the exhaust ports to varying elevations relative to the exhaust ports, as well as other features.
