In a radio-paging receiver comprising a receiving arrangement (11, 12, 13) for successively receiving messages included in selective call signals as received messages, a received message storing area (202) for storing the received messages as stored messages, a character number information storing area (204) for storing the number of characters for each of the stored messages as a stored character number, an LCD (19) visually displays the stored character number for each of the stored messages with analog representation. The analog representation may be graphical representation, which is, for example, performed by using a bar graph.

A torque converter including a stator rotatable about an axis and having a stator hub, and a thrust bearing mounted to the stator hub. The stator hub has a recessed portion that is recessed from one axial end face of the stator hub. The thrust bearing includes a bearing race received by the recessed portion of the stator hub. A coupling connects the bearing race with the stator hub. The coupling includes a first engaging part disposed on an outer periphery of the bearing race and a second engaging part engaged with the first engaging part and disposed on an outer periphery of the recessed portion in opposed relation to the outer periphery of the bearing race. The first and second engaging parts cooperate to prevent a relative rotation between the bearing race and the stator.

A radio paging receiver receives transmitted data containing a plurality of character code sequences, which can include sequences of different bit lengths and processes that, while segmenting character code sequences from the received data using a previously specified bit length for the segmentation; successively compares each segmented character code sequence with one or more predefined special codes conforming to the previously specified bit length; and when a segmented character code sequence does not match the one or more special codes, stores the segmented character code sequence as message data with a bit length corresponding to the previously specified bit length, but when a segmented character code sequence does match one of the one or more special codes, causes the bit length in which the received data are to be segmented to change to the bit length specified by the special code so that it can receive a series of messages comprising alphanumeric characters and Chinese or Japanese characters, which differ in the number of bits at which segmentation is required, without causing wasted air time.

A lock-up damper includes a driving plate or flange formed integrally with a radially outer flange of a lock-up piston, a driven plate fixed to an outer peripheral portion of a turbine shell, and coil springs which are mounted between the driving and driven plates, such that the inner, front and rear sides of the coil springs are supported by the driven plate, and the outer sides thereof are supported by the inner surface of the driving plate. The driven plate consists of a single annular plate having inner, front and rear support faces for supporting the coil springs, and the front and rear faces do not extend beyond two orthogonal lines that are tangent to the coil spring and extend in parallel with the lock-up piston and the outer flange, respectively.
