A cylinder block plating apparatus preplates or plates a cylinder bore of each cylinder in a cylinder block of a multi-cylinder engine using a process liquid introduced into the cylinder bore in a condition of sealing an end of the cylinder bore when a communication hole is formed at the end of the cylinder bore, the cylinder block plating apparatus includes a sealing jig including a sealing unit including a cylinder bore seal for sealing the end of an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder bore and a communication hole seal for sealing a portion, near a communication hole, opposite to the cylinder inner peripheral surface, and a clamping unit disposed in the sealing unit to be pushed open and adapted to cause the communication hole seal to seal the portion located on the opposite side of the cylinder bore near the communication hole. The sealing is performed by sealing the end of an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder bore, and sealing a portion located on an opposite side of the cylinder bore in a periphery of the communication hole.

Sealing jig and sealing method for cylinder block plating apparatus

The present invention provides a plating pretreatment apparatus that includes a cylindrical cathode disposed in a hollow portion of a fixing jig. A cylindrical object to be treated is installed on the fixing jig so that the cathode is also arranged therein. A lower portion of the cathode has a smaller diameter than an upper portion thereof. The invention also provides a plating treatment apparatus that includes an outlet jig having a hollow portion for installing a cylindrical object to be treated on a top face thereof, a cylindrical anode disposed therein so that a top end thereof projects from the top face of the outlet jig, and a plating liquid tank connected to the anode and the outlet jig. A lower portion of the anode has a smaller diameter than an upper portion thereof.

A method of plating an aluminum alloy, of which the steps are small in number and the productivity is improved as compared with conventional zincate conversion or anodic oxidation methods and which attains a decrease in cost and obviates the use of mixed acids, and a plated aluminum alloy of which the coating has excellent adhesion, the method comprising the steps of carrying out anodic etching of a silicon-containing aluminum alloy to protrude silicon from the surface of the aluminum alloy, optionally carrying out anodic oxidation of the aluminum alloy on its surface from which the silicon is protruded, and plating the aluminum alloy, and the plated aluminum alloy containing silicon in a state where the silicon bridges the aluminum alloy and the plating layer.
