In a portable telephone, a display device, a telephone receiver, a ten-numeral entry key, a telephone transmitter, and the like are mounted on surface sides of a first housing () and a second housing (), which are located on inner sides thereof when the first housing and the second housing are closed, both the first housing and the second housing being hinged to each other via a hinge portion in a freely openable/closable manner; and a speaker for producing at least a telephone call-receiving sound is provided on the surface side of any one of the first housing, the second housing, and the hinge portion. Also, a sound projection portion () for projecting the telephone call-receiving sound produced from the speaker is formed in a side of the portion where the speaker is provided even under such a condition that the first housing and the second housing are closed. As a result, the speaker sounds can be projected forwardly in sufficiently high levels even under such a condition that the first and second housings are opened, and furthermore, the telephone call-receiving sound can also be heard in sufficiently high levels even under such a condition that the first and second housings are closed.

Mobile telephone

To provide a flip electronic device in which even when rain water or the like enters therein to a certain extent, it is absorbed and hence an electric circuit therein is not affected. In the flip electronic device, slight clearances are formed between bearings (), (), (), () for rotatably connecting first and second enclosures (), (), and cylindrical members (), () formed coaxially with the bearings (), (), (), (), and hence rain water may enter through these clearances. Therefore, water-absorbing members (), () are mounted to an end of a printed wiring assembly (), and rain water entered through the clearances is absorbed by the water absorbing members (), (), so as to prevent an electric circuit located in the enclosure from being affected.

When the key operation area is pressed, a decision is made about whether the key is pre-registered a single button dialing telephone number or not (step). In case the key is held down for the predetermined period (T), an operation to instruct single button dialing via a so-called hold-down operation is assumed, thus causing the single button dialing telephone number pre-registered to the key held down to appear on the display (step). When a predetermined period (T) has elapsed with the key held down (step), an operation to instruct a call origination to the telephone number on the display is assumed and a call is originated then conversation starts depending on the answer of the distant party (step). Keys on the cover can be used to operate keys on the body.

Portable telephone apparatus and control method thereof

A portable cellular phone comprising a case body and a sliding cover is disclosed. The case body includes an operating section and stopper portions. The sliding cover covers the operating section of said case body and is slidably supported on said case body. The stopper portions of the case body restrict a sliding range of said sliding cover. The sliding cover is mounted and detached with respect to said case body by applying an outer force to the sliding cover in a direction perpendicular to a sliding direction when the sliding cover is positioned at a specific position within the sliding range. When the sliding cover is mounted, one of locking portions of the sliding cover is engaged with one of locking portions of the case body, and the other locking portion of the sliding cover is aligned in position on the other locking portion of the case body. The sliding cover is fit to the case body by applying an outer force.

Portable cellular phone

First display ( ) comprising a liquid crystal display is provided on the external surface of the first case body ( ). In the near proximity of the first display ( ), a non-voice radio communications service start button ( ), scroll buttons ( ), ( ), and a selection/decision button ( ) are provided. On the internal surface of the first case body ( ), the second display , on the side of which is provided an antenna retractable slantwise, is provided. In the first case body ( ) is embedded a magnet ( ) and in the second case body ( ) is embedded a lead switch ( ). When the main unit is folded to bring the magnet ( ) in close proximity to the lead switch ( ), the lead switch is turned ON. When the main unit is unfolded to place the magnet ( ) apart from the lead switch ( ), the lead switch is turned OFF. This allows detection of folding/unfolding of the case body.

Folding portable telephone apparatus

In a housing comprising an upper case and a lower case are stored a whip antenna, a built-in antenna, a receiver for outputting a voice, a display part for indicating characters and marks, a back side key to be operated during the call, a flexible substrate comprising a diaphragm switch, a printed board, and a shield case for shielding a receiving circuit part and a radio circuit part. In the case the user would like to keep the content of the conversation during the call, the back side key can be operated by a finger. Accordingly, the diaphragm switch is turned on so as to drive a recording mechanism.

The invention supports an antenna ( ) retractably from bottom to top via an antenna receiver section ( ) on the side of the second case body ( ) so that it is possible to fold/unfold the first case body ( ) irrespective of the direction of the antenna ( ) and whether the antenna ( ) is stretched or housed.

A portable telephone comprises: a battery pack detachable from a portable telephone body, the battery pack including: a recess in a head section thereof; a hook formed in a bottom section thereof; and a back protrusion on the back of said head section, the portable telephone body includes: a bottom recess engageable with said hook; a slide pawl engageable with said recess in the head section of the battery pack; and a slide protrusion which is integral with the slide pawl, and which, when the slide pawl is slid, is slid and brought into contact with the back protrusion, thereby to forcibly push the head of the battery pack out of the electronic device.

A battery holding apparatus holds a battery pack on a battery mount of an electronic device such as a portable telephone. The battery holding apparatus includes a holding member and a hook assembly. The holding member is provided on a first end of the battery mount and has formed thereon a claw fitted into a first recess formed on a first end of the battery pack. The hook assembly is provided on a second end portion of the battery mount opposite to the first end thereof and includes a spring and a protrusion. The protrusion is urged by the spring pressure produced by the spring into constant engagement with a second recess formed in a second end of the battery pack opposite to the first end thereof so as to split the spring pressure into a horizontal pressure and a vertical pressure. The horizontal pressure urges the second end of the battery pack against the holding member to eliminate any horizontal play of the battery pack on the battery mount.
