There is provided a thin-plate shaped chassis for an electronic apparatus, which has a plurality of step portions extended substantially in parallel with each other in such a way as to form at least one bulge portion which is bulged in a convex shape. The step portions are formed to have a larger thickness than that of other thin-plate portion having a predetermined thickness, and wherein there is provided at least one rib having a predetermined height which extends from the step portion to the thin-plate portion.

Chassis for electronic apparatus

Provided are a housing and an electronic device that ensure sufficient strength even when reduced in thickness. A carbon fiber layer included in the housing is disposed such that the orientation direction of carbon fibers is perpendicular to the lengthwise direction of the long sides of a back face panel, thus enabling improving the flexural strength of the back face panel. This enables increases in the number of carbon fibers per unit of area of the back face panel, and enables the length of each carbon fiber to be reduced. Accordingly, it is possible to cause the carbon fibers to flex less readily, thus enabling improving the strength in the flexing direction of the back face panel.

Housing and electronic device

An operation unit has an operation surface for accepting an input operation. In a plan view, the operation surface has a rectangular contour including a plurality of sides and a plurality of corner portions. When each point at which extensions of adjacent two of the plural sides cross each other is defined as a virtual intersection, and when an intersection at which respective diagonals linking the virtual intersections cross each other is defined as a virtual center, the contour of the corner portion crosses the diagonal that passes through the virtual intersection and the virtual center, at a point between the virtual intersection in the vicinity of the corner portion and the virtual center. The corner portions is a specific corner portion having an intersection with the diagonal at a position closer to the virtual center than the adjacent two corner portions.

A laptop computer includes: a substantially rectangular first chassis accommodating a display section; a substantially rectangular second chassis accommodating an operation control section; and a hinge mechanism coupling one side of the second chassis and one side of the first chassis. Another side parallel to the one side of the first chassis is configured so that only its widthwise central portion in parallel to the one side lays side-by-side to form a substantially flat face with another side of the second chassis when the chassis are closed together. The other side of the first chassis is configured, in a planar view, so that the more it departs from the central portion toward an edge portion in the widthwise direction, the more it comes closer to the one side of the first chassis than to the other side of the second chassis when the chassis are closed together.

Information-processing apparatus

A cushioning member includes a first plane, an opening opened to the first plane, and an air storage for storing air formed from the opening to an inside of the cushioning member. When a shock load is imposed on the cushioning member, the air in the air storage is compressed, and the first plane is deformed by the pressure of the compressed air to form a gap. A part of the compressed air flows out of the air storage through the gap. This structure provides a high shock-cushioning effect.
