A method of determining a coefficient for converting an analog current value into a pulse count value in an inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy apparatus (ICP-MS) is described. The ICP-MS is configured to generate the pulse count value and the analog current value as a signal intensity indicating a density of an element in a sample to be measured.

In an atmospheric inductively coupled plasma generating apparatus, impedance matching between a coil for plasma generation and an RF power source is effected at a high speed. A control method and/or condition for the output frequency of an oscillator which supplies a power to the coil for plasma generation or a control method and a control condition for the output power of the oscillator are changed appropriately in accordance with a generation state of a plasma. When a plasma is not generated, the output frequency is controlled according to a first condition and, when a plasma is generated, the output frequency is controlled according to a second condition different from the first condition. When a plasma is not generated, the output power is controlled according to a third condition and, when a plasma is generated, the output power is controlled according to a fourth condition different from the third condition.

A radio frequency amplifier and a method of driving the radio frequency amplifier which are excellent in the controllability at the time of a low power output while keeping the advantage of a high efficiency and give the heating generated by a power loss of such a degree that dewing generated due to over-cooling by the cooling system is not generated at the time of a low power output. The radio frequency amplifier is structured by a variable wave height and a variable wave width pulse wave generating circuit that generates a pulse wave (rectangular wave) having an arbitrary pulse height and pulse width, and a power amplifier that is driven by the rectangular wave.
