Each of one or more storage device units has a switch device for relaying communication in accordance with a communication interface in which the number of master devices that can exist in the same domain is defined and having a plurality of switch ports. A controller unit has a storage controller having a plurality of initiator ports. According to the present storage sub-system, a slot in which failure has occurred and a slot not registered to a configuration information of a storage sub-system are used to simultaneously perform correction copy to a spare HDD and data erase of the failure HDD in parallel, so as to enable the failure HDD to be brought out to the exterior of the storage facility. A storage apparatus includes: a storage drive providing a physical storage area for creating a logical storage area used by an external apparatus; a storage controller including a plurality of central processing units (CPUs) executing data write processing from the external apparatus to the storage drive, and data read processing from the storage drive; a plurality of cooling fans cooling the storage drive; a temperature sensor detecting a temperature of air introduced or discharged by the cooling fans; and a revolving speed sensor detecting a revolving speed of each cooling fan. Any of the CPUs executes operation control processing in which, through a data network path to the storage drive for the data write and read processing, measurement values of the temperature and revolving speed sensors are acquired and a revolving speed setup value of the fans is calculated and is transmitted to the cooling fans.

A storage apparatus has a physical storage area used by an external apparatus, a drive interface unit, a power supply unit, and a storage controller executing data write processing from the external apparatus to the storage drive and data read processing from the storage drive through the drive interface unit, and a drive control interface unit. Any one of the processing units acquires the power supply information of the power supply unit through a data network path to the drive interface unit for the data write processing and the data read processing, and determines whether or not a failure occurs in the power supply unit supplying the operation power to the storage drive and the drive interface unit, on the basis of the acquired power supply information.

One or more switches are interposed between a controller portion and a storage device. When transmission of a command to a certain storage device fails, a command is transmitted starting from an upstream side to a downstream side of a path between the controller portion and the switch to which the certain storage device is connected, and when command transmission fails while transmitting a command from a kswitch (k is an integer of 0 or more) which is connected to a (k+1)switch and is one level upstream of the (k+1)switch or from any port of the controller portion, it is determined that a failure has occurred in a power source that supplies power to the (k+1)switch.

Appropriate parameters can be efficiently set for network ports included in a storage apparatus. A storage apparatus performing I/O processing on a storage drive in response to an I/O request manages a first table in which a network device (SAS controller, SAS expander) is associated with location information of the network ports, a second table in which the cable length of a network cable coupled to each of the network ports is associated with a port ID of the network port, and a relationship between the cable length of the network cable and the parameter (output amplitude, pre-emphasis) set for the network port. The storage apparatus acquires the cable length of the network cable from the second table, determines the parameters corresponding to the acquired cable length from the above relationship, and sets the determined parameter for the network port.

A power device of the present invention makes a plurality of DC/DC converters redundant, and supplies power individually to a plurality of disk drives. Each first DC/DC converter is respectively made correspondent to a subgroup. The power supply device of the present invention supplies power individually to a plurality of disk drives by rendering a plurality of DC/DC converters redundant. One redundant power supply substrate is assigned to a plurality of normal power supply substrates. One redundant power supply substrate supports the outputs of a plurality of normal power supply substrates. The main DC/DC converters in the normal power supply substrate correspond with the subgroups on a one-for-one basis. The secondary DC/DC converters in the redundant power supply substrate each correspond with all of the respective subgroups and are able to supply power to a predetermined single disk drive among the respective disk drives in the subgroups for each of the subgroups.

A storage control system of the present invention can carry out settings for a storage device using redundantly configured access channels. A controller of the storage control system can access a storage device using a plurality of access channels of system A and system B. Respective I/F control units each comprise a plurality of normally open-type switches. The switches of system A and the switches of system B are respectively wired-OR connected. A disk control unit outputs a control signal to an I/F control unit on the basis of a setting table. When a failure occurs in an I/F control unit of system A, the output signals of the respective switches transfer to a high-impedance state. Therefore, a storage device can be set by outputting, from an I/F control unit of system B, a signal corresponding to a desired operational mode and identification information.
