A paper delivery system having a printing unit with an upstream tractor and a downstream tractor disposed on an upstream side and a downstream side, respectively, of the paper delivery unit in the direction of paper delivery, a coupler coupling the upstream tractor and the downstream tractor to each other and a support shaft for supporting the coupler so that the coupler is movable in a direction transverse to the paper delivery direction and a resilient member positioned between the coupler and a fixed frame of the printing unit for energizing the coupler in a predetermined direction for constantly holding the coupler at a certain position in relation to the support shaft.

Paper delivery system

A dot-matrix line printer includes a printing shuttle which moves reciprocally to carry out a printing operation, and a balancing shuttle which moves in a direction opposite to the direction of the movement of the printing shuttle. The balancing shuttle is partly inserted in the printing shuttle so as not to interfere with the latter upon printing and so that the center of gravity of the balancing shuttle is located as close to the center of gravity of the printing shuttle as possible.

Dot-matrix line printer

A gear power transfer mechanism for driving a developing unit in an image forming apparatus wherein the developing unit is selectively located closely to and separated from a photoconductive drum unit in conjunction with opening and closing operations of a cover. This gear power transfer mechanism includes a first bevel gear provided on a rotation axis on a side of the photoconductive drum unit coupled with a drive motor, a second bevel gear always engaging with the first bevel gear, a third bevel gear provided on a rotating axis on a side of the developing unit, a fourth bevel gear always engaging with the third bevel gear and a rotation coupling device coupling the second bevel gear and fourth bevel gear. The rotation coupling device has a coupling structure which transfers rotation of the second bevel gear to the fourth bevel gear and allows movement of the fourth bevel gear relative to the second bevel gear when the developing unit is selectively located closely to and separated from the photoconductive drum unit.

Image forming apparatus

An inexpensive large-capacity paper hopper capable of energizing a paper feed table with a constant lift force irrespective of the quantity of paper sheets remaining thereon, thereby performing stable paper feeding. To achieve such a paper hopper, a paper hopper, wherein a paper feed table is lifted or lowered being kept in a horizontal condition and paper sheets stacked on the paper feed table are sequentially sent out from the top sheet for feeding, is arranged such that the paper feed table is so suspended by a wire suspending device as to be lifted or lowered in a horizontal condition, and an elastic tensile force of extension coil springs included in a lift force exerting device is so exerted to the paper feed table that the direction in which the restoring displacement of the extension coil springs takes place becomes coincident with the direction of lifting the paper feed table.

Paper hopper

A bracket having great rigidity is provided. A magnetic roller is rotatably mounted on the bracket and a doctor blade is fixed to the bracket. A bracket assembly comprising the bracket, the magnetic roller and the doctor blade is fixed to a frame of a developing unit. A gap g between the magnetic roller and the doctor blade is maintained at a predetermined value even if the frame is deformed due to an external force, and thus printing at a constant density is ensured.

A fixing unit of an electro-photographic apparatus having: a heat roller installed on a frame, for fixing a toner image on a sheet; a pressure roller for pinching the sheet with the heat roller; a separator contacting the heat roller, for separating the sheet from the heat roller; a cleaning wiper contacting the heat roller, for cleaning the heat roller; and a sub-frame carrying the pressure roller, the separator and the cleaning wiper, where the sub-frame is hinged by an axle which is installed on the frame, in parallel to the heat roller. The pressure roller, the separator and the cleaning wiper are released all together from the heat roller when the sub-frame is opened by being rotated around the axle. In thus-opened state, the jammed sheet can be easily taken out by operator's finger because the jammed sheet is exposed to thus-provided sufficiently wide space and the sheet is merely sticking to heat roller without being undesirably bitten by separator 16 or by cleaning wiper 17. Moreover, the easy sheet-removal operation prevents the operator's fingers from being burnt by touching the hot heat roller.
