A general engine throttle apparatus includes a throttle body, a throttle valve, a throttle shaft, a driven gear, an electrically driven motor, and a detected body block. The throttle valveopens and closes an intake air introduction hole. The throttle shaftholds the throttle valveand is rotatably supported by a holding holeof the throttle body. The electrically driven motortransmits a rotation operation force to the driven gear. The detected body blockis attached to another end part in an axial direction of the throttle shaft, and a state of the throttle shaftis detected by a sensor. The driven gearis integrally formed on one end side in the axial direction of the throttle shaft. The detected body blockis formed to have a maximum outer diameter that is smaller than a minimum inner diameter of the holding hole

General engine throttle apparatus

A throttle apparatus includes a throttle body (), a throttle valve (), a throttle shaft (), an electrically driven motor (), a drive gear (), a driven gear (), a middle gear (), and a sensor block (). The middle gear () is held by the throttle body () such that a gear shaft is displaced from an imaginary straight line (V) connecting together a motor shaft and the throttle shaft (). A gear arrangement projection part () that projects outward by a displacement amount of the middle gear () and a connector arrangement projection part () that projects to a same side as the gear arrangement projection part () at a position adjacent to a motor housing part () side of the gear arrangement projection part () are formed on an outer surface of the throttle body (). The motor connector () is arranged on the connector arrangement projection part () such that the motor connector () is in parallel with an axis center of the motor shaft and faces another end side of the throttle body (). The sensor connector () is arranged on the sensor block () such that the sensor connector () is directed toward the axis center from a direction that is orthogonal to the axis center of the motor shaft.

An engine fuel supply apparatus includes: a fuel chamber provided in a carburetor; a first communication passage for opening the interior of the fuel chamber to the atmosphere; a second communication passage for communicating the interior of the fuel chamber with the interior of a Venturi section; and a passage switching section capable of switching between the first and second communication passages and mechanically connected to the main switch so that it can operate in response to the main switch shifting between an ignition position and a stop position. The passage switching section switches the second communication passage to the first communication passage in response to the main switch shifting from the stop position to the ignition position and switches the first communication passage to the second communication passage in response to the main switch shifting from the ignition position to the stop position.

Fuel supply apparatus for engine

In a control apparatus for a general-purpose internal combustion engine including a generator as a power supply, the generator includes a main generator coil supplying power to the stepping motor, and an auxiliary generator coil supplying power to an ignition device of the engine. The apparatus includes ignition timing controller for, when starting the engine by a manual starter, detecting that an engine speed reaches or exceeds a predetermined engine speed not exceeding a connecting rotation speed of a centrifugal clutch to retard an ignition timing of the engine, thereby suppressing increase in the engine speed to less than the connecting rotation speed, and for restoring the ignition timing to its normal timing after a predetermined time elapses from start of retarding the ignition timing. Accordingly, it suppresses overshooting of an engine speed above the connecting rotation speed even if a delay occurs in closing a throttle valve by a delay in activating the motor.

Control apparatus for general-purpose internal combustion engine

Provided is a temperature sensitive actuator attaching structure wherein the ease of attachment is improved. A heat generating element () generates heat by energizing a temperature sensitive actuator () via conducting terminals (). The generated heat expands a wax (W) to project a piston (), and an elastic member () biases the piston () in a direction opposite to the projecting direction. In order to attach the temperature sensitive actuator () to an attachment portion () of an object member (), fixing protrusions () are provided in the conducting terminal () of the temperature sensitive actuator (), and receiving portions () which can receive the fixing protrusions () in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the piston () are provided in the attachment portion (). The temperature sensitive actuator () is attached to the object member () by inserting the fixing protrusions () into the receiving portions ().

In a variable valve operating device for an internal combustion engine, which is capable of changing operation characteristics of an engine valve in accordance with a change in rotation speed of a camshaft, a high-speed cam () including a base circle portion which has the same radius as that of a base circle portion of a low-speed cam () and also including a high-level portion which has a protruding amount larger than that of a high-level portion of the low-speed cam () is supported on a camshaft (A) having the low-speed cam () fixed thereto such that the high-speed cam () is rotatable relative to the camshaft (A), at a position adjacent to the low-speed cam (); a cam follower member () is supported by an engine main body () to be operable in a manner following one of the low-speed cam () and the high-speed cam (); and a centrifugal clutch (A) configured to connect the high-speed cam () to the camshaft (A) while synchronizing the phase of the high-speed cam () with that of the low-speed cam () when the rotation speed of the camshaft (A) reaches or exceeds a predetermined rotation speed is provided between the camshaft (A) and the high-speed cam (). Accordingly, it is possible to change operation characteristics of an engine valve with a simple and compact structure.

Variable valve operating device for internal combustion engine

An automatic choke apparatus for a carburetor includes an electric actuator, a choke valve opening/closing mechanism configured to open and close a choke valve by being driven by a power exerted by the electric actuator, and a controller configured to control operation of the electric actuator. The controller, to which a battery supplies electric power, operates the electric actuator and the choke valve opening/closing mechanism in order that, when the engine is stopped, the choke valve is set in a semi-opened position and, when the engine starts to be cranked, the choke valve is set in a fully-closed position. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the choke valve from freezing up in the fully-closed state in a case where the engine is stopped under an extremely low temperature environment.

Automatic choke apparatus for carburetor

An engine control device includes a governor lever, a centrifugal governor, a control lever operated to oscillate between a low-speed position and a high-speed position, and a governor spring expandedly provided between the control lever and the governor lever. An automatic choke device is connected to a choke valve of a carburetor. A play is provided between the governor lever and the governor spring. The play holds the governor spring in a free state during rotation of the control lever from the low-speed position to the high-speed position by a predetermined angle. A subsidiary spring is provided between a fixed structure and the governor lever so as to constantly urge the governor lever in a direction to open the throttle valve. A spring constant of the subsidiary spring is smaller than that of the governor spring. Thus, there is provided the engine control system with the automatic choke device, which can meticulously control an air/fuel ratio from start of an engine to under-load operation of the engine in accordance with increase and decrease in temperature of the engine.

Engine control system

A carburetor control system includes: a governor device that is coupled to a throttle lever, opens a throttle valve when an operation of an engine is stopped, and opens or closes the throttle valve in accordance with a rotational number of the engine when the engine is in operation; a choke return spring urging a choke lever in a direction to close a choke valve; and an automatic choke device opening the choke valve in accordance with an increase in temperature of the engine. In the carburetor control system, the throttle lever is provided with a drive arm pivoting the choke lever, during a cold operation of the engine, to a position where the choke valve is at an intermediate degree of opening in operative connection with the throttle lever being pivoted by the governor device to a position where the throttle valve is at a degree of opening for idling or a position in a vicinity thereof. Accordingly, it is possible to mechanically open the choke valve to a predetermined intermediate degree of opening, when the engine is in a cold idling state, in operative connection with the throttle valve, so as to be capable of ensuring a fuel-efficient and stable idling state.

Carburetor control system

A fuel tank used for a general-purpose engine comprises a hollow tank body for storing fuel and a filter disposed within the tank body. The tank body has a bottom with a trap having an internal surface portion lying in a first plane. The filter comprises a tubular body extending from the internal surface portion of the trap and a fluororesin element supported by the tubular body so that a main surface of the fluororesin element lies in a second plane disposed at an angle of inclination relative to the first plane. The fluororesin element has a property of not allowing water to pass therethrough but allowing fuel to pass therethrough.

Fuel tank with filters

A carburetor automatic control system in an engine includes, a temperature-sensitive operating device for operating a choke valve so that the choke valve is opened with a temperature increase of the engine and a governor for opening and closing a throttle valve to maintain a preset rotational speed of the engine. The governor device includes, a stepping motor opening and closing the throttle valve over a range from an idling opening degree to a fully opening degree, and an electronic control unit driving the stepping motor so that the rotational speed of the engine is maintained the preset speed. A relief mechanism is interposed between the choke valve and the temperature-sensitive operating device, the relief mechanism opening the choke valve in response to an intake vacuum pressure within the intake passage when the engine is in a cold state and the choke valve is in a fully closed state.

Carburetor automatic control system in engine

In a fuel tank system, a strainer chamber with a suction bore opened into its upper surface is provided in a collecting recess for collecting a residual fuel containing impure foreign substances such as dust and water, the collecting recess being provided in a bottom wall of a fuel tank. A fuel discharge pipe is connected to the strainer chamber. Fuel flow passages are provided outside the strainer chamber. Baffle plates are provided in front and in the rear of and outside the strainer chamber to guide the fuel flowing into the collecting recess during tilting of the fuel tank into the fuel flow passages. Thus, the impure foreign substances are prevented from entering the strainer chamber.

Fuel tank system

A device for controlling a choke valve of a carburetor for an engine includes: a choke closed state hold device for holding, in a closing position, a choke lever urged by a spring in a direction for opening the choke valve, when the choke lever is turned to the closing position, the choke closed state hold device releasing the choke lever from the held state by a throttle operation thereafter performed; a control lever which turns between a low-temperature position and a high-temperature position, and which at its low-temperature position limits the position of the choke lever released from the choke closed state hold device to an intermediate position and at its high-temperature position limits the position of the choke lever to an opening position; a first control spring which urges the control lever toward the low-temperature position; and a second control spring which is made of a shape memory alloy, and which turns the control lever to the high-temperature position when the engine temperature reaches a predetermined high temperature. With this arrangement, the opening of the choke valve is controlled in a rational way according to changes in engine temperature, to thereby stabilize warm-up operation and improve the fuel consumption rate.

Device for controlling choke valve of carburetor

A device for controlling a choke valve of a carburetor for an engine, includes a choke closed state hold device for holding, in a closing position, a choke lever connected to the choke valve of a carburetor and urged by a spring in a direction for opening the choke valve, when the choke lever is turned to the closing position, the choke closed state hold device releasing the choke lever from the held state by a throttle operation of the carburetor after a start of the engine. The choke closed state hold device includes a lock arm provided continuously with a throttle lever and a locked arm provided continuously with the choke lever, the lock arm and the locked arm elastically surmounting each other when the choke lever is turned to the closing position in a state where the throttle lever is in the opening position corresponding to a full open position of the throttle valve, so that the lock arm prevents the locked arm from turning back. Thus, the choke closed state hold device is constituted only by the lock arm and the locked arm respectively provided continuously with the throttle lever and the choke lever, and there is no need for a lock lever specially supported axially on the carburetor as in the conventional arrangement. Therefore, the number of components is reduced, and the construction is simplified, so that the manufacturing cost of the choke valve control device can be reduced.

A valve-operating mechanism includes cam followers carried on an engine body with their tip ends being in sliding contact with the cam, rocker arms integrally connected to the cam followers and carried on the engine body coaxially with said cam followers with their tip ends being connected to valves, and valve springs for biasing the valves in closing directions. In the valve-operating mechanism, auxiliary springs are connected to the cam followers for biasing and turning the cam followers in the same directions as directions in which the valve springs bias and turn the rocker arms through the valves. Thus, a couple of forces generated over the axis of the cam follower and the rocker arm due to biasing force of the valve spring can be offset in a valve-closing process.
