A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a substrate and a second substrate with a liquid crystal layer sandwiched therebetween. A plurality of pixels are sandwiched between the two substrates and form a display section, each of the pixels is provided with first and second pixel electrodes both corresponding to the pixel, and a common electrode corresponding to the first and second pixel electrodes.

A display method can achieve both a substantially high definition image display and high speed dynamic image display. A display apparatus is capable of adapting sufficiently to an increase in the display frequency even when using an optical modulation element which has a fairly low response speed and can rewrite an image at a high speed. The display apparatus separately performs mapping of display data for an optical modulation element of each pixel and application of gradation information. The display apparatus divides a display period of one frame into a plurality of sub-frames, controls the input value for the optical modulation element independently per each sub-frame in the plurality of sub-frames, and displays an image with a gradation display using the optical modulation element.

Display method and display apparatus therefor

To provide a liquid crystal display apparatus including: a substrate; another substrate arranged opposite the substrate; a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the two substrates, and a plurality of pixels forming a display section, in which each of the pixels is provided with a first and a second pixel electrodes corresponding to the pixel, and a common electrode corresponding to the first and second pixel electrodes.

A display device is constituted by a display module which determines a plurality of pieces of pixels as belonging to one block unit, selects the plurality of pixels in each block unit at the same time and displays a picture image by adding one or a plurality of specific patterns each having different spatial frequencies of each block unit; a display control unit which controls the display module; a picture image signal generation unit which generates picture image signals; and a computing circuit which generates the specific patterns each having different spatial frequencies while weighting the same based on the picture image signals for every block unit. Thereby, a display device which reduces the signal clock frequency as well as increases the signal writing time, enhances the opening rate of an LC panel and permits a highly fine display and a high speed motion picture display, is obtained.

Porous styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer particles having SO.sub.3.sup.- groups and counter ions for SO.sub.3.sup.- groups, said counter ions being (a) at least one of Ca.sup.++ and Sr.sup.++ and (b) at least one of Pb.sup.++ and Ba.sup.++ and the equivalent ratio of (a)/(b) being 1/2 to 2/1, are an excellent liquid chromatographic column packing material suited for separating sugars different in kind but the same in molecular weight.
