A light emitting device is provided which is capable of feeding a reverse current to the defective structural part of a light emitting element, e.g. an organic EL element, without using the power supply voltage as reverse bias. The light emitting device comprises a capacitive light emitting element, e.g. an organic EL element, emitting light upon application of a DC forward voltage. A reverse current can be fed to the light emitting element through a low-resistance defective structural part, for example, only by connecting both electrodes of the organic EL element with the earth after stopping application of the DC forward voltage using a push-pull circuit (), thereby discharging residual charges of the light emitting element.

Light emitting device

The object of the invention is to extend the life of the light source while uniformizing the illuminance intensity in the main scanning direction. The invention is based on a light source of image reading apparatus comprised of film layers laminated on a transparent substrate in the order of a transparent electrode, an area light emitter and a metal electrode, and emitting light by impressing a specific voltage on these two electrodes. And an area light emitter column configured by arranging area light emitters corresponding to each color of R (red), G (green) and B (blue) in the sub scanning direction, or a monochrome area light emitter is arranged repeatedly in the main scanning direction. Accordingly, even when somewhere in the light emitting element has a defect like the film thickness is thin, the current gathering at this point with the low resistance value becomes a very small volume. Therefore, it would not occur that the film burns out from here.

Driving device of light source

An image reader for reading an image drawn on a paper or a sheet-like recording medium, an image processor provided with the image reader, such as a copying machine, a scanner and the like, and a fiber lens to be applied to those devices. The image processor has to be large in the whole size of device to read both sides of an original. Therefore, the image processor of the present invention comprises an image reader () on the upper side of transport path and an image reader () on the lower side of that respectively. In order to downsize the device, it is necessary to shorten the diameter of optical fiber () of the fiber lens () installed in the imager reader as light receiving means. In this case, the optical fiber () is provided with a light-absorbing layer() around of the optical fiber () in order to restrain the crosstalk and the flare phenomenon. The illuminance of light source means () installed in the image reader gets smaller as the device is downsized. In case where the illuminance is small, the image quality is deteriorated by the floating of the original. Accordingly, the image reader should be provided with the light source means so as to uniform the illuminance over a specific width of the main and sub scanning directions. Therefore, it is possible to avoid the deterioration of the image quality.

An image forming apparatus includes a light source provided with converting structure for converting an advancing direction of light emitted from the light source, whereby a direction in which the light source is disposed can be determined regardless of a direction in which light is emitted. The advancing direction of the light emitted from a light emitting element is converted into a direction in which light transmitting structure can transmit the light, so that a luminous intensity on a photosensitive drum can be increased. The light source is designed so as to increase a light emitting area of the light emitting element and condense light emitted therefrom. Formed on a first face of a head main body are nozzles. Formed on an opposite second face of the head main body are actuators. A driver IC is, at its both ends, fixedly supported on the second face of the head main body so that the driver IC lies astride the actuators, in other words, the driver IC is mounted on a side of the head main body opposite to the ink emitting side. One ends of relay terminals formed on the second side of the head main body are coupled via respective wires to a printer main body. The other ends of the relay terminals are coupled via bonding wires to corresponding input terminals of the driver IC. A linear illumination device of the present invention includes: a guide made of a light transmitting material extending in a first direction, having a side face and at least one end face; at least one light emitter for allowing light to enter interior of the guide from the at least one end face of the guide; and a light diffusing section formed on part of the side face of the guide, for diffusing the light incident thereon by refraction, wherein at least part of the light entering the interior of the guide goes out from part of the side face of the guide facing the light diffusing section, thereby providing substantially linear illumination light along the first direction.
