A braking apparatus for braking a wheel of a vehicle, including: (a) a main body; (b) a cam which is supported by the main body such that the cam is rotatable about an axis thereof, and which has a cam surface whose distance from the axis changes as viewed in a circumferential direction of the cam; (c) a movable member which is held by the main body such that the movable member is movable relative to the main body, and which holds a cam follower portion engaging the cam surface, and a braking portion brought into contact with a tire of the wheel; and (d) an operating device which includes an operating member operable to be moved in first and second directions, and which rotates the cam in one of opposite directions in response to the movement of the operating member in the first direction, for thereby moving the movable member in a forward direction.

A joint for an orthotic apparatus is disclosed. The joint includes a main block having arc-shaped grooves formed on opposite sides and a pair of rails separated by each arc-shaped groove. The joint also includes a pair of carriers slidably mounted on the opposite sides of the main block, each carrier having a main rollers in rolling engagement with the arc-shaped groove and a plurality of side rollers adapted to roll on the rails. Attached to each carrier is an arc-shaped rack arranged concentrically with the arc-shaped groove and a base plate for connecting to a long leg supporting member. The joint further includes a pinion gear installed on a bottom part of the main block and in meshing engagement with each arc-shaped rack, and an electric motor for operating the pinion gear.

An apparatus and method for spraying solid lubricant to obtain coatings thereof on inner surfaces of an injection sleeve and a spool bushing of a die-casting machine. The die-casting machine further includes a first spraying assembly 1 having nozzles 11 and 12 directed to the injection sleeve 85 and a second spraying assembly 2 having a nozzle 21 directed to the spool bushing 86. The nozzles 11, 12 and 21 are connected to a tank 4 for the solid lubricant. The first and second spray assemblies 1 and 2 are provided with corresponding moving devices 3 and 23 for obtaining a desired movement of the nozzles 11 and 12 and 21, respectively. Nozzle cleaning devices 71 and 72 are provided for cleaning the nozzles 11 and 12 and 21, respectively after the completion of the spraying operation.
