This outboard machine has: a V-type engine (engine) in which a plurality of cylinders are arranged in a V-shape when viewed in a plan view; and a cover that covers the engine. The engine has a plurality of intake ports that form pairs in a V-shape inside the plurality of cylinders in a plan view and a concave space is formed between the plurality of intake ports. The cover has therein an intake path that guides air to the intake port, and is also provided with, at a position that is adjacent to the intake path and enters the concave space, a silencer that attenuates the sound during intake.

A blade mounting structure of a lawn mower includes a blade holder including a shaft-mounted section connected to an output shaft of an engine, and a blade mounting section having a grass cutting blade mounted thereto. The blade holder further includes a connecting leg section located between the shaft-mounted section and the blade mounting section and interconnecting the shaft-mounted section and the blade mounting section. The connecting leg section has a wall thickness dimension gradually decreasing in a direction from the shaft-mounted section toward the blade mounting section.

A blade mounting structure of a lawn mower includes: a drive hub mounted on an output shaft of a power source and protruding radially outward beyond an outer periphery of the output shaft; a friction member for transmitting driving force from the drive hub to a blade holder, the drive hub and the friction member having respective curved surfaces slidable on each other when the drive hub and the friction member are in abutting engagement with each other; a grass cutting blade attached to the blade holder; and an energy absorbing member disposed in a space defined by the blade holder and members peripheral to the blade holder, the energy absorbing member being constructed to maintain its shape during normal grass cutting condition but deform when a load exceeding a predetermined value acts on the energy absorbing member.

In an outboard motor adapted to be mounted on a hull and equipped with an engine having a crankshaft located parallel with a gravity axis and a vertical shaft connected to the crankshaft to be rotated around the gravity axis, an urger is disposed at a position between the crankshaft and the vertical shaft to urge the crankshaft upward in a direction parallel with the gravity axis.

An outboard engine includes a buoyant member (). The buoyant member has concavities (L,R;L,R) formed in at least one side thereof. A plurality of outboard engines is mounted in parallel on the stem, and the concavities prevent interference with the other adjacent outboard engines when any of the outboard engines are tilted up.

A marine propulsion apparatus includes an anti-cavitation plate on a casing that supports a propeller. A lift generation plate, which generates lift during propulsion, is disposed at a position rearward of the casing and above the anti-cavitation plate and extends in a width direction of a hull. The lift generation plate is mounted on the casing via a stay.

An outboard motor has an internal combustion engine installed in an engine compartment defined by an engine cover. The engine's intake air inlet is formed by an air intake duct, which communicates with an air intake space outside the engine compartment. The engine cover includes an upper cover with a receiving ring fitted on the air intake duct. The receiving ring and the intake duct form an overlapping part in which the ring and the duct overlap each other in the direction of flow of combustion air. The overlapping part has a sealing member therein which forms a seal between the air intake space and the interior space of the engine compartment. The sealing structure does not require high dimensional precision to form a required sealing property between the engine cover and the air inlet of the engine intake system. The sealing structure minimizes any influence of engine vibrations.

Internal combustion engine installed in engine compartment

An internal combustion engine installed in an engine compartmentcovered with an engine cover C is provided with an intake air passage P. The intake air passage P extends continuously from an intake air inlet Pi to intake air outlets Pe in the engine compartmentand has a first down passage, a reversing passage, an up passageand a second down passagearranged in the order in the flowing direction of combustion air. The combustion air taken through the intake air inlet Pi into the intake air passage P flows down through the first down passage, the reversing passagereverses the flowing direction of the combustion air that has flowed down through the first down passagesuch that the combustion air flows up, flows up through the up passageto a position at a level higher than that of an uppermost intake air outlet Pe. Then, the combustion air flows down through the second down passageand flows through the intake air outlets Pe into combustion chambers. Thus, an effect on preventing the flow of water into the combustion chamberof the engine is improved.

Internal combustion engine and outboard motor provided with the same

An outboard motor S includes an internal combustion engine E having a crankshaft, and an alternator G having a shaftand a housing. The engine E and the generator G are disposed in an engine compartmentwith the crankshaftof the engine E and the shaftof the alternator G spaced a center distance d apart from each other. The housingis provided with air inletsthrough which cooling air for cooling the interior of the alternator G flows into the housingand air outletsthrough which cooling air that has cooled the alternator G is discharged as exhaust air. An exhaust air ductsurrounds the outletsof the housingand carries the exhaust air to a predetermined position from which the exhaust air cannot easily flow again through the inletsinto the housing. The alternator G spaced the center distance apart from the internal combustion engine E can be cooled at improved cooling efficiency.

Machine provided with internal combustion engine and generator

An outboard engine comprises a power source inside a power source compartment. The power source room is formed by an upper cover and an undercover. A buoyant body is disposed outside the power source compartment, and has a lower surface wall in a position that is lower than the undercover. The buoyant body is provided separately from the upper cover.

A center frame fixed to a lower end of a swivel shaft of an outboard engine system by a bolt includes a swivel shaft extension extending downwards from the lower end of the swivel shaft , and a core metal which extends laterally from a lower end of the swivel shaft extension and has a lower mount rubber integrally baked thereto. The lower mount rubber is restrained on a rear surface of the extension case . Thus, the distance between an upper mount rubber mounted at an upper portion of the swivel shaft and the lower mount rubber mounted at a lower portion of the swivel shaft can be increased without downward extension of the swivel shaft itself to enhance the anti-vibration effect, while avoiding an increase in extra weight and an increase in cost.

Anti-vibration supporting structure for an outboard engine system

In an outboard engine system, an inertia force a generated longitudinally by a piston is countervailed by an inertia force b generated by a crankshaft , and inertia forces c and d subsidiarily laterally generated vibrate a body of the outboard engine system laterally about a phantom center point C of vibration. At this time, an elastomeric member resiliently supporting the system body on a hull has a rigidity in a tangent direction (in the direction of L ) about the phantom center point C of vibration, which is set to be lower than a rigidity in a radial direction (in the direction of L ) about the phantom center point C of vibration. Therefore, the lateral vibration is reduced effectively due to the lower rigidity of the elastomeric member . Thrusts e and f generated by a propeller and acting in a longitudinal direction (in the direction of L ) are transmitted to the hull through the elastomeric member . However, the rigidity of the elastomeric member in the longitudinal direction is set to be higher and hence, the thrusts e and f can be transmitted effectively to the hull.
