A removable data-storage device. The removable data-storage device includes a main data-storage unit, an exterior housing for containing the main data-storage unit, an elastic shock-reduction part between an inner wall of the exterior housing and the main data-storage unit for reducing a mechanical shock to the main data-storage unit by elasticity and an external connector exposed from an opening of the exterior housing. The main data-storage unit is placed at the rear of the external connector as viewed from the opening. The external connector is joined and secured to the main data-storage unit and the exterior housing. In addition, the elastic shock-reduction part is configured to deform with a movement of the main data-storage unit in the exterior housing produced by a mechanical shock and a movable range of the external connector is smaller than a movable range of the main data-storage unit.

Removable data-storage device

Embodiments of the invention prevent a decrease in magnetization or demagnetization from occurring to recording magnetization regardless of a direction in which a stray field is applied. In one embodiment, an apparatus for data storage system comprises a head having a magnetic field shield in the vicinity of a main pole, and a cover of the device, using a constituent material with a magnetic field shielding effect, across the cover, or at part thereof. When a stray field in a direction perpendicular to a recording medium is applied, the effect of the magnetic field is alleviated by the magnetic field shield installed in the vicinity of the main pole. In such a case, it need only be sufficient to form the magnetic field shield in a shape optimum for removing the stray field in the perpendicular direction only. When a stray field in a direction horizontal in relation to the recording medium is applied, the magnetic field acting on the recording medium is removed by the cover of the device comprising a magnetic component.

Perpendicular hard disk drive resistive against external magnetic field

A flexible printed circuit board using a lead-free solder is to be fixed within a disk enclosure while ensuring a high rigidity. In one embodiment, a rotating disk storage device comprises a flexible printed circuit board (FPC), wherein there is formed a wiring pattern including a signal line for the transmission of a signal of data read by a head in an actuator head suspension assembly (AHSA) and wherein one side end portion is fixed to a base and an opposite side end portion is fixed to the AHSA. A first metallic plate and a second metallic plate are both fixed to one side end portion of the FPC. A connector is disposed in an area where the first metallic plate in the FPC is provided, and connected to the wiring pattern. A shock sensor is disposed in an area where the second metallic plate in the FPC is provided, and connected to the wiring pattern. A reinforcing plate of a synthetic resin is, in an opposed state of the first and second metallic plates fixed to one side end portion of the FPC, held between the opposed faces of both metallic plates and is fixed to the base together with both metallic plates.
