A scroll type compressor having a housing unit in which a movable scroll element and a stationary scroll element are received in such a relationship that the movable scroll element orbits about the center of the stationary scroll element. The scroll type compressor further having a mechanical reinforced rotation preventing unit for preventing rotation of the movable scroll element about its own axis, and the rotation preventing unit having first stationary pin fixed to an inner end face of the housing unit and second movable pin fixed to an end face of a base plate of the movable scroll element, and a ring engaged with the first and second rings. A thickness T1 between the outer circumference of the first pin and the inner edge of the inner end face of the housing unit is set to be equal to or larger than 2.4 mm. A thickness T2 between the outer circumference of the second pin and the outer circumference of the base plate of the movable scroll element is set to be equal to or larger than 2.7 mm. A radial wall thickness T3 of the ring between the outer and inner cylindrical surfaces thereof is set to be equal to or larger than 1.7 mm.

Scroll type compressor with a reinforced rotation preventing means

A scroll type compressor using a crank mechanism having enough freedom so that an amount of eccentricity of the movable scroll member becomes variable. An elastic body is inserted between the facing surfaces striking each other in the inside of the crank mechanism so as to prevent generation of a noise due to the collision of the parts when starting up or shutting down the compressor.

A scroll-type compressor comprising mutually mating stationary and movable scrolls for forming a compression chamber. The shell of the compressor comprises a center housing, a front housing, and a rear housing. The stationary scroll is integrally formed with the center housing. The movable scroll is carried by an eccentric shaft portion of a drive shaft which is rotatably supported by the front housing so that the movable scroll can move in an orbit. The rear housing has a first set of bolt holes, and the front housing has a first set of threaded holes for receiving a first set of through bolts which are inserted in the first set of bolt holes from the rear side whereby the center housing is fastened between the front and rear housings by the fastening force of the through bolts.

A base plate 41 of a movable scroll member 4 has, at its outer periphery, a section 44 with no scroll wall, while a scroll wall 22 of a stationary scroll member 2 has a section 24 for connecting to an outer cylindrical shell 22. These sections 44 and 24 make a relative lateral slide movement during an orbital movement of the movable scroll member 4 with respect to the stationary scroll member 2. These sections 44 and 24 have axially faced inner and outer edges 44-1 and 24-1, over which the relative lateral movement occurs. These inner and outer edges 44-1 and 24-1 are bevelled, the bevelling being such that any skewed movement of the movable scroll member with respect to the stationary scroll member does not cause locally increased contact pressure, thereby preventing galling as well as seizing.

A scroll-type compressor comprising mutually mating stationary and movable scrolls for forming a compression chamber. The shell of the compressor comprises a center housing, a front housing, and a rear housing. The stationary scroll is integrally formed with the center housing. The movable scroll is carried by an eccentric shaft portion of a drive shaft which is rotatably supported by the front housing so that the movable scroll can move in an orbit. The center housing has a first set of bolt holes, and the front housing has a first set of threaded holes, so that a first set of fastening bolts are inserted in the first set of bolt holes from the rear side and screwed into the first set of threaded holes. Also, the rear housing has a second set of bolt holes, and the center housing has a second set of threaded holes, so that a second set of fastening bolts are inserted in the second set of bolt holes from the rear side and screwed into the second set of threaded holes. Thus, the first and second sets of fastening bolts can be inserted in the same direction, and the assembly of the compressor can be facilitated.

An improved scroll type compressor is disclosed. A moveable scroll is eccentrically connected to a rotary shaft and opposed to a fixed scroll for forming a compression chamber. The moveable scroll performs an orbital movement about an axis of the rotary shaft without rotating about its own axis. With the orbital movement, the moveable scroll reduces the volume of the compression chamber and compresses coolant gas therein. A fixed wall is disposed adjacent to the moveable scroll on the opposite side from the fixed scroll. The fixed wall receives a reaction force of the compressed gas applied to the moveable scroll. First elements disposed between the fixed wall and the moveable scroll transmit the reaction force from the moveable scroll to the fixed wall. Second elements are disposed independently from the first elements between the fixed wall and the moveable scroll for determining the orbit of the moveable scroll.

A scroll type compressor has a movable scroll which is supported by a drive shaft by way of an eccentric pin in a housing. The movable scroll engages in an orbital movement for defining a compression chamber with a fixed scroll which is disposed opposite to the movable scroll. The compression chamber decreases in size in accordance with the orbital movement of said movable scroll for compressing gas in the compression chamber. A first ring orbits together with the movable scroll between the movable scroll and the housing, for receiving compressive reaction force acting on the movable scroll. A second ring which is secured to the housing receives the compressive reaction force received by and acting on the ring.

Disclosed is a compressor which has a fixed scroll and a movable scroll. Defined between both scrolls is a compression chamber in order to provide compressed gas. A pressure receiving member receives compression reaction force of the compressed gas. A base plate is provided on the movable scroll. A turnable ring is disposed between the pressure receiving member and the base plate. The ring has the first and second surfaces respectively facing the pressure receiving member and the base plate. The first surface of the ring has a plurality of first elements circumferentially spaces and provided at predetermined intervals. A plurality of first recesses are provided in the pressure receiving member, with the first elements fitted into the first recesses respectively. The second surface of the ring has a plurality of second elements circumferentially spaced and provided at predetermined intervals. A plurality of second recesses are provided in the base plate, with the second elements fitted into the second recesses respectively. When the movable scroll revolves, the first and second elements move within the first and second recesses to prevent rotation of the movable scroll and the ring. To transmit the compression reaction force of the gas acting on the movable scroll to the pressure receiving member, the first and second surfaces of the ring are provided with a plurality of projections protruding toward the pressure receiving member and the base plate and having substantially spherical engagement surfaces to engage therewith.

A scroll type refrigerant compressor having an aluminum or aluminum alloy housing unit in which a stationary scroll unit having a stationary spiral member and a movable scroll unit having a movable spiral member are encased in such a manner that the movable spiral member moves along a predetermined orbiting path without rotating about an axis thereof, and a reinforcing ferric metal liner fixedly attached to an inner cylindrical face of a cylindrical wall portion of the aluminum or aluminum alloy housing unit so as to prevent the inner cylindrical face of the housing unit from being mechanically cracked by the movable spiral member of the movable scroll unit during the running of the compressor even if the movable scroll unit jams due to entrance of foreign materials between the outer face of the movable spiral member and the inner face of the housing unit.

A scroll type compressor comprises an immovable scroll defining a spiral space, and a refrigerant is introduced into an outerhost zone of the spiral space. The compressor further comprises a movable scroll engaged with the immovable scroll such that the outermost zone of the spiral space is divided into an inner section and an outer section by an outermost portion of the movable scroll. The movable scroll is revolved around a center axis of the immovable scroll such that the inner and outer sections are alternatively displaced as a compression chamber toward a center of the immovable scroll, and a refrigerant inlet port of the inner section is defined by a termination of the outermost portion of the movable scroll. The termination is disengaged from and engaged with the immovable scroll during the revolution of the movable scroll to close and open the inlet port of the inner section. The immovable scroll has a communication passage formed in a base portion thereof, and the inner and outer section is in communication with each other through the communication passage only when the termination is disengaged from the immovable scroll so that the inlet port of the inner section is opened, whereby the refrigerant can be fed to the inner section not only through the inlet port thereof, but also through the communication passage until the termination is engaged with the immovable scroll so that the inlet port of the inner section is closed.

The scroll type compressor includes a stationary and orbiting scroll members, of which the spiral elements are interfit at an offset angle to form line contacts defining at least one fluid pocket, and an anti-spin mechanism for causing the orbiting member to orbit within the stationary member. A drive shaft is rotatably supported in a housing, and has an outer end a cylindrical inner end and, depending upon the embodiment, either a crank pin or a sliding guide portion projecting axially inward from its inner end. A drive bush couples the drive shaft to the orbiting scroll member, and has either a circular aperture for receiving the crank pin or an engaging slotted recess for receiving the sliding guide portion, as the case may be, whereby the drive bush is either pivotable or slidable with respect to the drive shaft. A counterweight is mounted on either the crank pin or the sliding guide portion between the drive bush and the drive shaft, and is coupled to the drive bush for conjoint movement therewith. The counterweight has a cylindrical recess for receiving the cylindrical inner end of the drive shaft, with a clearance maintained between the radially inner perimeter of the recess and the radially outer perimeter of the inner end of the drive shaft, so as to allow the drive bush and counterweight either to pivot relative to the crank pin or to slide relative to the sliding guide portion, depending upon the embodiment.

A scroll type compressor includes a fixed scroll having a fixed spiral element and a fixed end plate, and an orbiting scroll is revolvable without rotating itself in opposition to the fixed scroll. A plurality of compression chambers, of which volumes are decreased in response to the revolution of the orbiting scroll, are defined between the scrolls. Sealing members having a spiral shape are slidably interposed between the fixed and orbiting end plates of the fixed and orbiting scrolls, and the initiating sections of the fixed and orbiting spiral elements are in opposition to the respective end plates. The cross sectional area of an initiating section of the sealing member, which is integrally movable with at least the orbiting scroll, is larger than that of remaining section thereof. The sealing member is capable of covering a part of the discharge port.

A scroll type compressor comprising mutually mating stationary and movable scroll members, a drive shaft, a counterweight, a slide key extending from the drive shaft, and a drive bush slidably fit on the slide key. The counterweight is immovably fit on the drive shaft. The slide key has a first axis offset from the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft for causing the movable scroll member to revolve around the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft, and a second axis perpendicular to the first axis. In the second form of the compressor, the counterweight has a guide portion having a first axis offset from the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft for causing the movable scroll member to revolve around the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft, and a second axis. The drive bush is slidably fit on the guide portion. The drive bush is movable along the second axis of the slide key or the guide portion to a smaller extent in one direction by which the eccentricity between the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft and the longitudinal axis of the drive bush is increased, and to a greater extent in the other direction by which the eccentricity is decreased.

Scroll type compressor with counterweight

A scroll type compressor which includes a fixed scroll and an orbiting scroll. Each scroll includes an end plate, a spiral element, at least one airtight compression chamber formed between the fixed and orbiting scrolls, a discharge port, and a drive mechanism for revolving the orbiting scroll relative to the fixed scroll, for compressing fluid in the compression chamber. The fixed spiral element and the orbiting spiral element include relatively thick tip portions having oppositely disposed flat faces. These faces are arranged in such a way as to periodically approach each other during the revolution of the orbiting scroll. A buffer portion is provided on at least one of the flat faces of the fixed and orbiting tip portions, for preventing over-compression of the fluid trapped between the flat faces.

Scroll type compressor having recessed buffer means in a spiral wrap

An improved scroll type compressor having enlarged fixed and orbiting spiral element tips with parallel flat faces is disclosed. A discharge port for discharging compressed fluids is positioned in the fixed end plate. The discharge port is shaped to provide an opening that is effectively elongated adjacent the flat face of the fixed spiral element. In one preferred embodiment, the discharge port has a pair of elongated sides that extend in parallel with the flat face of the fixed spiral element. Another preferred embodiment the discharge port includes a plurality of holes arranged such that a common tangent to the perimeter of the holes is substantially parallel to the flat face of the fixed spiral element. A tapered surface may also be provided in the flat face of the enlarged tip of the orbiting spiral element to improve communication between the compression chamber and the discharge port.
