A developing solution for silver halide photographic material contains a six-membered heterocyclic compound having two nitrogen atoms as the constituent atoms of the six-membered ring and mercapto group, hydroxyl group and at least one substituent group other than hydrogen atom and a five-membered heterocyclic compound having two to three nitrogen atoms as the constituent atoms of the five-membered ring and at least one mercapto group. There is also disclosed a method for processing a silver halide photographic material with said developing solution.

Developing solution for silver halide photographic material and method

A silver halide photographic material is disclosed, comprising a support having provided thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer, at least one layer of the emulsion layer and other hydrophilic colloid layers containing at least one hydrazine-type nucleating agent having, in the vicinity of the hydrazine group, an anionic group or a nonionic group which forms an intramolecular hydrogen bond with a hydrogen atom of the hydrazine, and also containing at least one of the onium salt compounds represented by formulae (a), (b) and (c), or at least one of the amine compounds represented by formulae (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (i) and (j). Also disclosed is a method for processing, after exposure, the silver halide photographic material described above with a developer containing a reductone-type developing agent and having a pH of 12 or less.

A silver halide photographic material is disclosed, which comprises a support having thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer, wherein the emulsion layer or other hydrophilic colloid layer contains at least one hydrazine compound and at least one compound represented by the following formula (I): ##STR1## An image forming method is also described, which comprises development processing the above-described image exposed silver halide photographic material with a developing solution comprising (1) from 0.2 to 0.75 mol/liter of dihydroxybenzene based developing agent, (2) from 0.001 to 0.06 mol/liter of 1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidone or p-aminophenol auxiliary developing agent, (3) from 0.3 to 1.2 mol/liter of free sulfite ion, and (4) a compound represented by the following formula (E); and the concentration ratio of the compound represented by formula (E) to the dihydroxybenzene developing agent is from 0.03 to 0.12, and the developing solution has a pH value of from 9.0 to 12.0. ##STR2##

A silver halide photographic photosensitive material comprises a silver halide photographic emulsion layer and a compound represented by general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein V.sub.1 and V.sub.2 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an alkoxy group; at least one of V.sub.1 and V.sub.2 is an alkyl group or an alkoxy group; Z.sub.1 represents a group of atoms which is required to form a five- or six-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring; Z.sub.2 represents a group of atoms which is required to form a five- or six-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring; Z.sub.3 represents an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom or a selenium atom; R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 each represents an alkyl group; R.sub.2 represents an alkyl group, an aryl group or a heterocyclic group; L.sub.1, L.sub.2 and L.sub.3 each represents a methine group; M.sub.1 represents a charge neutralizing counter-ion; and m.sub.1 is a number having a value zero or above which is required to neutralize the charge within the molecule.

The present invention relates to a direct positive photosensitive material comprising at least two kinds of core/shell-type internal latent image-type silver halide grains having different average grain sizes, the smaller grains being substantially constituted of cubic grains, or tetradecahedron grains mainly of the face (100). According to the present invention, a direct positive photosensitive material having a wide exposure latitude and an extremely improved storage stability can be obtained.

A silver halide photographic material has on a support at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer which comprises silver halide emulsion grains having a chloride content: of at least 50 mol % and containing a metal selected from rhodium, ruthenium and rhenium in an amount of at least 10.sup.-8 mole per mole of silver, said silver halide emulsion being spectrally sensitized with a compound of general formula (I) and being chemically sensitized with a selenium or tellurium compound: ##STR1## wherein Z and Z.sub.1 each represents a group of nonmetallic atoms necessary to complete a 5- or 6-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic nucleus; R and R.sub.1 each represents an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group, or an unsubstituted aryl group; Q and Q.sub.1 each represents a group of atoms necessary to complete a 4-thiazolidinone, 5-thiazolidinone or 4-imidazolidinone nucleus; L, L.sub.1 and L.sub.2 each represents an unsubstituted or substituted methine group; n.sub.1 and n.sub.2 each represents 0 or 1; X represents an anion; and m represents 0 or 1, wherein m=0 indicates that the dye forms an inner salt. The photographic material provides high sensitivity to He--Ne laser light and ensures high contrast in the photographic images.

Silver halide photographic material and method of processing the same

A silver halide photographic material comprising a support having provided thereon a silver halide emulsion layer, in which said silver halide emulsion layer contains at least one sensitizing dye selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by formula (I): ##STR1## and a compound represented by formula (II): ##STR2## and at least one of said silver halide emulsion layer and other hydrophilic colloidal layers contains a dye represented by formula (III): ##STR3## wherein the substituents of the formulas (I), (II) and (III) are as described in the specification. The photographic material exhibits excellent performance properties in terms of sensitivity to light emitted from an Hc-Ne laser or an LED, safety from safelight, and freedom from color remaining after processing.

A method for forming an image is disclosed, comprising imagewise exposing a negatively working silver halide photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer with light having a wavelength of from 460 to 600 nm and containing substantially no light having a wavelength of 360 nm or less, said emulsion layer containing at least one sensitizing dye having an absorption maximum (.lambda..sub.max) at a wavelength of form 450 nm to 580 nm, and said emulsion layer or other hydrophilic colloidal layer containing at least one hydrazine derivative. The method provides an image having excellent image quality either in enlargement or reduction work without causing reduction in sensitivity or inducing black pepper.

Image formation method and silver halide photographic material therefor

A silver halide photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing silver halide grains, wherein said silver halide grains have a silver chloride content of 30 mol% or more and contain (i) and iridium compound in an amount of 10.sup.-6 mol or less per mol of silver halide, (ii) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of iron, rhenium, ruthenium and osmium compounds in an amount of 10.sup.-3 mol or less per mol of silver halide, and (iii) (a) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by general formula (1-a), (1-b) and (1-c): ##STR1## wherein Z represents a C.sub.1-18 alkyl group, a C.sub.6-18 aryl group or a heterocyclic group; Y represents an atomic group required for the formation of a C.sub.6-18 aromatic ring or a heterocyclic group, said groups represented by Z or formed by Y may be substituted with at least one substituent; M represents a metallic atom or organic cation; and n represents an integer from 2 to 10, and/or (b) the silver halide grains have been chemically sensitized at a pH of 5.5 or less. A process for the development of the silver halide photographic material is also provided wherein processing is effected by an automatic developing machine in a total processing time of 20 to 60 seconds.

Silver halide photographic material and process for the development

A negative type silver halide photographic material is disclosed. The material comprises a support having provided thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer containing silver halide grains sensitized with gold and sulfur sensitizers, the emulsion layer or at least one other hydrophilic colloid layer containing at least one high contrast-imparting hydrazine derivative and at least one compound represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein Z represents N or C--X wherein X represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl group, Y represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl group, and M represents a hydrogen atom, a metallic atom, or ammonium which may be substituted.

A silver halide photographic material is disclosed, comprising a support having thereon at least one hydrophilic colloid layer at least one of which must be a gold- and sulfur-sensitized silver halide emulsion layer, said silver halide emulsion layer containing from 0.1 to 3.0 mol % silver iodide per mol of silver, wherein said silver halide emulsion comprises silver halide grains having a substantial core/shell structure wherein the silver iodide content in the shell is less than that in the core, and the silver halide emulsion layer or other hydrophilic colloid layer contains a polymer represented by the formula (I)

A direct positive photographic light-sensitive material is disclosed which comprises at least two direct positive emulsion layers having the same color sensitivity, wherein at least one hydrophilic colloid layer is provided between the direct positive emulsion layers. A direct positive photographic light-sensitive material having a high graininess, a soft tone, and a high picture quality can be obtained.

A silver halide negative photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer, at least one hydrophilic colloidal layer thereof containing (1) a hydrazine derivative, (2) a compound substantially having no absorption maximum in the visible light region represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein Z.sup.11, Z.sup.12, R.sup.11, R.sup.12 X and n are as defined in the specification, and (3) at least one compound represented by formula (II) or (III): ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and Q are as defined in the specification; and ##STR3## wherein R.sub.21, R.sub.22, R.sub.23, and R.sub.24, are as defined in the specification. The photographic material can be processed with a stable developer to provide an ultra-high contrast image without reduction in sensitivity, gamma or maximum density or the appearance of black pepper. The photographic material is excellent in pressure properties and anti-blocking properties.

A method of forming an image is provided. The method comprises the steps of (a) imagewise exposing a photographic material which comprises a support having provided thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and which contains a hydrazine compound represented by the following general formula (I) in the emulsion layer or a hydrophilic colloid layer adjacent thereto, the photographic material being designed so that a difference in sensitivity (sensitivity being defined as log E corresponding to the density of fog+2.0) between (1) the photographic material is development-processed with a developing solution having a sulfite ion concentration of 0.15 mole/l or more, a potassium ion concentration of 0.2 mole/l or more and a pH value ranging from 10.5 to 12.3 and (2) the photographic material is development-processed with the same developing solution as described above, except that the pH value was lowered by 1.0, (.DELTA.log E), is 0.7 or less, and moreover, the gamma value obtained in (1) is 10 or more and the gamma value obtained in (2) is 5 or more: ##STR1## wherein A represents an aliphatic group, or an aromatic group; B represents a formyl group, an acyl group, an alkylsulfonyl group, an arylsulfonyl group, an alkylsulfinyl group, an arylsulfinyl group, a carbamoyl group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, an aryloxcarbonyl group, a sulfinamoyl group, an alkoxysulfonyl group, a thioacyl group, a thiocarbamoyl group, a sulfamoyl group, or a heterocyclic group; both R.sub.0 and R.sub.1 represent a hydrogen atom, or one of them represents a hydrogen atom and the other represents an alkysulfonyl group, an arylsulfonyl group, or an acyl group; and B, R.sub.1 and the nitrogen atom attached thereto may form a partial structure of hydrazone, and (b) developing the exposed material with a developer. The method realizes superhigh contrast and high resolution images.

A direct positive photo-sensitive material is described, wherein the material comprises at least one internal latent image-type silver halide emulsion layer containing core/shell-type silver halide grains consisting of substantially cubic or tetradecahedral grains mainly of the face (100) and being spectrally-sensitized with at least one sensitizing dye having the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 represent each a lower alkyl group substituted with a sulfonato, carboxyl or hydroxyl group, at least one of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 being a sulfonatoalkyl group, R.sup.3 represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted phenethyl group, R.sup.4 represents a chlorine atom, a methoxy or ethoxy group or a hydrogen atom, R.sup.5 represents a chlorine atom or a phenyl, alkoxy or alkyl group, M.sup.+1 represents a cationic residue, m represents 0 or 1 with the proviso that when an inner salt is formed, m is 0.
