An object is to provide a light-emitting element capable of emitting light with a high luminance even at a low voltage, and having a long lifetime. The light-emitting element includes n EL layers between an anode and a cathode (n is a natural number of two or more), and also includes, between m-th EL layer from the anode and (m+1)-th EL layer (m is a natural number, 1≤m≤n−1), a first layer including a first donor material in contact with the m-th EL layer, a second layer including an electron-transport material and a second donor material in contact with the first layer, and a third layer including a hole-transport material and an acceptor material in contact with the second layer and the (m+1)-th EL layer.

Light-emitting element, light-emitting device, electronic device, and lighting device

By introducing new concepts into a structure of a conventional organic semiconductor element and without using a conventional ultra thin film, an organic semiconductor element is provided which is more reliable and has higher yield. Further, efficiency is improved particularly in a photoelectronic device using an organic semiconductor. Between an anode and a cathode, there is provided an organic structure including alternately laminated organic thin film layer (functional organic thin film layer) realizing various functions by making an SCLC flow, and a conductive thin film layer (ohmic conductive thin film layer) imbued with a dark conductivity by doping it with an acceptor and a donor, or by the like method.

Organic semiconductor element

Light-emitting elements in which an increase of driving voltage can be suppressed are provided. Light-emitting devices whose power consumption is reduced by including such light-emitting elements are also provided. In a light-emitting element having an EL layer between an anode and a cathode, a first layer in which carriers can be produced is formed between the cathode and the EL layer and in contact with the cathode, a second layer which transfers electrons produced in the first layer is formed in contact with the first layer, and a third layer which injects the electrons received from the second layer into the EL layer is formed in contact with the second layer.

Light-emitting element comprising the first to third layer and EL layer

An organic EL device that has good yields and high reliability as well as high current efficiency is provided by introducing the new concept to the conventional organic EL device structure. An EL device comprising a first electrode, a second electrode, an electroluminescent layer, conductive particles, wherein conductive particlesare dispersed in the EL layer, is used. Current efficiency will be increased since conductive particles serve as the conventional charge generation layer. In addition, fabricating processes will become simplified and fabricating costs will be reduced because the conductive particles and the EL layer can be formed simultaneously.

Organic electroluminescent device

An object is to provide a light-emitting element capable of emitting light with a high luminance even at a low voltage, and having a long lifetime. The light-emitting element includes n EL layers between an anode and a cathode (n is a natural number of two or more), and also includes, between m-th EL layer from the anode and (m+1)-th EL layer (m is a natural number, 1&#x2266;m&#x2266;n&#x2212;1), a first layer including a first donor material in contact with the m-th EL layer, a second layer including an electron-transport material and a second donor material in contact with the first layer, and a third layer including a hole-transport material and an acceptor material in contact with the second layer and the (m+1)-th EL layer.

To provide a method of improving an efficiency for extracting light in a self light-emitting device using an organic EL material. In the self light-emitting device having a structure in which an EL layer () is sandwiched between a transparent electrode () and a cathode (), a film thickness of the EL layer () and a film thickness of the transparent electrode () are equivalent to the film thicknesses in which there is no occurrence of a guided light, and an inert gas is filled in a space between the transparent electrode () and a cover material ().

Self light-emitting device

A triplet light emitting device which has high efficiency and improved stability and which can be fabricated by a simpler process is provided by simplifying the device structure and avoiding use of an unstable material. In a multilayer device structure using no hole blocking layer conventionally used in a triplet light emitting device, that is, a device structure in which on a substrate, there are formed an anode, a hole transporting layer constituted by a hole transporting material, an electron transporting and light emitting layer constituted by an electron transporting material and a dopant capable of triplet light emission, and a cathode, which are laminated in the stated order, the combination of the hole transporting material and the electron transporting material and the combination of the electron transporting material and the dopant material are optimized.

Light emitting device containing iridium complex

An organic electroluminescence device of the present invention adapts a new concept in its configuration to improve its efficiency in addition to obtain a high reliability and good yielding. The organic electroluminescent device having an electroluminescent film containing an organic material capable of causing an electroluminescence and being arranged between a first electrode and a second electrode, includes: a carrier generation layer, which is a floating electrode, is embodied in the electroluminescent film; an insulting film between the first electrode and the electroluminescent film, and an insulating film between the second electrode and the electroluminescent film, wherein the organic electroluminescent device is driven by an alternating current bias.

An object is to provide a light-emitting element which exhibits light emission with high luminance and can be driven at low voltage. Another object is to provide a light-emitting device or an electronic device with reduced power consumption. Between an anode and a cathode, n (n is a natural number of two or more) EL layers are provided, where between a first EL layer and a second EL layer, a first layer containing any of an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, a rare earth metal, an alkali metal compound, an alkaline earth metal compound, and a rare earth metal compound, a second layer containing a material having a high electron-transporting property in contact with the first layer, and a region containing a material having a high hole-transporting property and an acceptor material in contact with the second layer are provided in this order from the anode side.
