A geared motor for driving an electric wheelchair, which can realize features such as light weight, compact size, low noise, and low vibration at the same time, as well as high performance at low cost. In a driving device of an electric wheelchair for driving a wheel shaft by the power of a motor, the motor is disposed in such a manner that a motor shaft thereof is orthogonal to the wheel shaft. A hypoid speed reduction mechanism having a hypoid pinion and a hypoid gear intervenes between the motor shaft and the wheel shaft.

Geared motor for electric wheelchair

A hypoid reducing device that allows the coupling/connection between a hypoid gear set and a motor to be more flexible and have a wider applicability. A hypoid pinion shaft is supported by two bearings in a bearing case portion in a gear case. A hypoid pinion engages with a hypoid gear having an orthogonal axial line. The hypoid pinion shaft is provided with a base end portion that is a solid shaft portion projecting toward a motor beyond the bearing on the motor side. The motor and the bearing case portion of the hypoid gear set are coupled with a separately provided joint case, while the motor output shaft and the base end portion of the hypoid pinion shaft are coupled through coupling members in the joint case.

Hypoid reducing device

In a geared motor for a self-traveling carrier, a projected area in an advancing direction of the carrier is made small to reduce the space required around a track. Despite the fact that the geared motor being is a single type of a geared motor (the same geared motor), it is possible to select a suitable mounting mode from among various mounting modes, thus permitting a smoother operation of a physical distribution system as a whole. For example, in a geared motor for a self-traveling carrier, a reduction mechanism housed in a gear box incorporates an output shaft with a wheel mounted thereon, an output shaft gear, an intermediate shaft disposed in parallel with the output shaft, an intermediate pinion and a hypoid gear both mounted on the intermediate shaft, and a hypoid pinion mounted on a motor shaft. The motor shaft is disposed between the intermediate shaft and the output shaft orthogonally thereto. Further, three faces of the gear box are used as mounting faces for mounting the geared motor to the carrier.
