A body having a thin region in substantially a half lower portion and a head joined to the body by a neck. When the element is blanked out of a metal sheet, an excess amount of metal produced by pressing the substantially half lower portion of the body flows from the body into the metal sheet positioned on an opposite side of the neck and a metal flow is produced into laterally spaced ends of the neck. The head has relatively thick laterally spaced ends and the head neck and the body have respective thicknesses equal to or smaller than the thickness of the head. The laterally spaced side end regions of the body have a thickness smaller than a thickness of the lower region of the neck in the substantially half upper portion of the body.

Method of blanking an element for belt for continuously variable transmission

A method sorts out defect-free elements blanked out of a metal sheet for a belt for use in a continuously variable transmission. Each of the elements has a body and a head joined to the body with a pair of recesses defined therebetween. The elements are stacked in a transverse direction thereof into an annular form and bundled together by an assembly of stacked endless metal rings inserted in the recesses into a belt for use in a continuously variable transmission. The elements are inserted into a passage having a predetermined width to sort out and deliver those elements which have passed through the passage to a feed path. Respective images of the elements which have been delivered to the feed path are analyzed while in the feed path to compare the images with a reference element image. Elements which have entrapped foreign matter, outer profile deformations, and defects are rejected from the feed path, and other elements are fed through the feed path. The fed elements are stacked and arrayed in a transverse direction thereof downstream of the feed path. The arrayed elements are passed through gages having a shape complementary to a required shape for the recesses of the elements, and those elements which have passed through the gage are sorted out as defect-free elements.

Method of sorting out defect-free workpiece

An apparatus for assembling a stator core having a plurality of radially disposed and radially movably jigs for holding the segmented cores. Vertically movable cams are provided vertically downwards on an upper vertically movable plate. By lowering the movably plate, the jigs are pushed radially inwards, thereby causing the plurality of segmented cores circumferentially to approach each other. The projection of each segmented core is fit by press fitting into the groove of the adjoining segmented core in the circumferential direction, thereby connecting the segmented cores together.

Apparatus for assembling a stator core

A belt for use in a continuously variable transmission comprises an annular hoop of laminated metal elements each having a body and a head joined thereto with a pair of recesses defined therebetween, and a pair of rings inserted respectively in the recesses and each comprising a plurality of laminated metal web-shaped rings. The belt is manufactured by an element production line for producing the elements through a plurality of processes, a ring production line for producing the laminated rings through a plurality of processes parallel to the element production line, and a belt assembly line joined to the element production line and the ring production line, for bundling the elements with the laminated rings thereby to assemble the belt. The elements are inspected for a produced state thereof at a terminal end of the element production line and those elements which are judged as acceptable are sent to the belt assembly line. The laminated rings are inspected for a laminated state thereof at a terminal end of the ring production line and those laminated rings which are judged as acceptable are sent to the belt assembly line. Belts are inspected for an assembled state at the belt assembly line and those belts which are judged as acceptable are delivered as products.

Method of and apparatus for manufacturing belt for continuously variable transmission

A body having a thin region in substantially a half lower portion and a head joined to the body by a neck. When the element is blanked out of a metal sheet, an excess amount of metal produced by pressing the substantially half lower portion of the body flows from the body into the metal sheet positioned on an opposite side of the neck and a metal flow is produced into laterally spaced ends of the neck. The head has relatively thick laterally spaced ends and the head and the body have respective thicknesses equal to or smaller than the thickness of the head. The laterally spaced side end regions of the body have a thickness smaller than a thickness of the lower region of the neck in the substantially half upper portion of the body.

Element for belt for continuously variable transmission

The cutting edge of a die and the cutting edge of a punch are spaced more widely from each other in a range of an element which includes a neck and undercuts than in the other range of the element. The element is blanked out of a metal sheet by the die and the punch. Edges of the neck and the undercuts are formed of a sheared surface in a transverse direction and a ruptured surface contiguous to the sheared surface. A burr is formed next to the ruptured surface in a position out of contact with endless rings.

Method of blanking element for belt for continuously variable transmission

A blanked plate-like metal member for use as an element of a belt in a continuously variable transmission has an recess including an undercut therein. A stream of a liquid mixed with particle members is ejected toward an edge to be beveled of the recess thereby to bevel the recess. After the edge is beveled by deburring the edge, the recess is finished by removing a bulge formed on an outer surface of the edge by deburring the edge.

Method of beveling plate-like metal member

Elements with heads confronting each other are blanked out of two opposite sides of an elongated metal sheet. The differences between thicknesses of the elements at a measurement point at or near necks of the elements and measurement points at ears of the elements are averaged, and a distance between corners of the metal sheet and a counter load of counter punches are established in order to keep the averages in an allowable range. When elements are blanked out of the metal sheet with the distance and the counter load thus established, even if the metal sheet is laterally displaced out of position, a belt assembly made up of the elements blanked out of the two opposite sides of the metal sheet and mixed at a ratio of about 1 to 1 poses no problems because variations in the thicknesses of the elements blanked out of one of the two opposite sides of the metal sheet and variations in the thicknesses of the elements blanked out of the other of the two opposite sides of the metal sheet cancel each other.

Method of blanking elements of belt for continuously variable transmission

A metal sheet having a pair of thin portions on respective marginal edges thereof which are joined to a remaining portion of the metal sheet via respective corners is centered by positioning the center between the corners as the center of the metal sheet. Then, elements are blanked out of the metal sheet. The elements remain joined to the metal sheet by respective connectors which are formed in the respective thin portions of the metal sheet, the bodies having respective lower edges formed in the respective thin portions of the metal sheet. The elements are separated from the metal sheet by cutting off the connectors along the lower edges of the bodies.

Method of and apparatus for blanking elements of belt for continuously variable transmission

A workpiece blanking apparatus has a die, a pad for holding a plate of metal on the die, a blanking punch for depressing the plate on the die downwardly of the die to blank a workpiece out of the plate, and a counterpunch vertically movably disposed in the die in confronting relationship to the blanking punch and movable downwardly with the workpiece blanked by the blanking punch. A counterpunch urging device normally urges the counterpunch upwardly, and a holding mechanism holds the counterpunch in a lowered position after the workpiece is blanked by the blanking punch until the blanking punch is spaced from the workpiece, the pad is spaced from the plate, and the blanking punch and the pad are lifted to a predetermined position. The holding mechanism releases the counterpunch in the lowered position and allows the counterpunch to displace the workpiece out of the die when the blanking punch and the pad are lifted to the predetermined position.

Workpiece blanking apparatus

A strip guiding device for guiding a strip longitudinally along a feed path has a limiting mechanism for limiting the strip transversely at opposite side edges thereof to cause the strip to pass through a predetermined position in the feed path. The limiting mechanism has a pair of abutment members having respective abutment surfaces for abutting against the side edges of the strip along the feed path. The abutment members are movable in first directions toward and away from the side edges of the strip, and normally urged by a spring assembly to move away from the strip. The limiting mechanism also has a pair of pressing members having respective slanted surfaces held in sliding contact with respective sliding surfaces of the abutment members remote from the abutment surfaces. The pressing members are movable in second directions transverse to the first directions. The pressing members press the abutment members toward the strip against the urging means by sliding contact of the slanted surfaces with the sliding surfaces in response to movement of the pressing members in one of the second directions. The limiting mechanism further includes a displacing mechanism for displacing the pressing members in the second directions to move the abutment members in the first directions.

Strip guiding device

A method of assembling a stator core, the stator core having a plurality of segmented cores. Each of the segmented cores has an arcuate yoke portion, a pole portion extending diametrically inwards from the yoke portion, and a tooth portion on a diametrically inner end of the pole portion, the yoke portion having a projection and a groove on circumferential one end and the other end, respectively, thereof. The segmented cores are assembled to form a stator core by circumferentially connecting the segmented cores by fitting a projection in one of adjoining segmented cores into a groove in the other of the adjoining segmented cores, the method including the steps of: arranging the projection circumferentially insertable into the groove, disposing the plurality of segmented cores into an annular shape, and pushing a movable plate downward on a cam which pushes the plurality of segmented cores radially inwards in a manner synchronized with each other such that the projection in each of the segmented cores is fit by press fitting into each of the grooves in the adjoining segmented cores from a circumferential direction.

Method of assembling a stator core

In a stator core, an intermediate portion of a projection and a groove have respectively formed therein: straight portions extending in a certain width in a direction normal to each end surface of yoke portions; and, near the straight portions closer to end surfaces of yoke portions, contracted portions having a width smaller than the width of the straight portions. When the projection is fit by press fitting into the groove in the normal direction, groove walls on both diametrically outer and inner sides of the groove are deflected within an elastic region. When fit by pressing, the straight and contracted portions of the projection are elastically tightened together at the straight and contracted portions of the groove, respectively. An apparatus for assembling a stator core has a plurality of radially disposed and radially movable jigs for holding the segmented cores. Vertically movable cams are provided vertically downwards on an upper vertically movable plate. By lowering the movable plate, the jigs are pushed radially inwards. By this pushing the plurality of segmented cores circumferentially approach each other. The projection of each segmented core is fit by press fitting into the groove of the adjoining segmented core in the circumferential direction, thereby connecting the segmented cores together.

A vehicle lock device having an approximately U-shaped fixing portion is contained so as not to be seen from the exterior. An approximately U-shaped fixing portion is disposed within a containing portion formed on a rear fender so as to be longer in the longitudinal direction. A lock portion longer in the vehicle width direction is overlapped on the fixing portion so as to cross the fixing portion. The fixing portion and the lock portion are fixed to a hook of a cross-plate and stays of seat rails by means of a fixture. A seat is then mounted on the seat rails. The vehicle device can be thus contained so as not to be seen from the exterior.

Containing structure for vehicle lock device in motorcycle

A double planetary carrier is constructed by providing separate carriers for carrying therein two sets of planet gears which are axially set apart from each other, and by connecting the two carriers together. A cylindrical portion is formed on a periphery of a side plate of one of the carriers to receive therein a side plate of the other carrier. Serrated teeth are formed respectively on a periphery of the side plate and on the cylindrical portion to connect the two carriers by means of serrations. The serrated teeth are formed so as to have a play therebetween. Between the side plates there are formed radially extending oil grooves to introduce lubricating oil into oil holes which are formed in gear shafts of the planet gears.
