A wavelength conversion element includes a substrate, reflection layer on the substrate, wavelength conversion layer in the reflection layer and converting a light in a first wavelength range into a light in a second wavelength range, structure in the wavelength conversion layer and scattering a part of the light in the first wavelength range, and optical layer in the structure, reflecting a part of the light in the first wavelength range, transmitting another part of the light in the first wavelength range, and transmitting the light in the second wavelength range. The structure includes a first structure portion, second structure portion, and planar portion between the first and second structure portions, the optical layers in the first and second structure portions have first reflectance for the light in the first wavelength range, and the optical layer in the planar portion has second reflectance.

Wavelength conversion element, illumination device, and projector

A light source apparatus includes a first laser light emitter that emits first light, a wavelength converter that converts the first light into second light, a base including a first support part that supports the first laser light emitter and a second support part that supports the wavelength converter, and a first optical element that guides the first light to the wavelength converter. The first optical element has a first light incident surface which faces the first laser light emitter, a first reflection surface that reflects the first light emitted from the first light incident surface and deflects the optical path of the first light, and a first light exiting surface which faces the wavelength converter and via which the first light reflected off the first reflection surface exits. The first light incident surface, the first reflection surface, and the first light exiting surface intersect with each other.

Light source apparatus and projector

An illuminator includes a light source that outputs first light, a wavelength converter that converts the first light into second light, an optical element that reflects the first light toward the wavelength converter and transmits the second light, and an illumination system which is disposed on the opposite side of the optical element from the wavelength converter. The wavelength converter includes a substrate, a reflection layer facing a first surface of the substrate, a wavelength conversion layer having a second surface and facing the reflection layer, and a structural element facing the second surface and having a plurality of protrusions that reflect part of the first light. The plurality of protrusions each have an inclining surface that inclines with respect to the second surface, and at least part of the first light and reflected off the inclining surface enters the illumination system without traveling via the optical element.

A wavelength conversion element according to the present disclosure includes a substrate, a reflecting layer, a wavelength conversion layer which is disposed on the reflecting layer, and which is configured to convert light in a first wavelength band into light in a second wavelength band, a structure which is disposed on the wavelength conversion layer, and which is configured to scatter the light in the first wavelength band, and an optical layer which is disposed on the structure, and which is configured to reflect a part of the light in the first wavelength band, transmit another part of the light in the first wavelength band, and transmit the light in the second wavelength band, wherein the optical layer is different in reflectance with respect to the light in the first wavelength band in accordance with an incidence angle of the light in the first wavelength band entering the optical layer.

The wavelength conversion element according to the present disclosure includes a wavelength conversion layer which has a first surface and a second surface different from the first surface, and which includes a scattering element no higher than 5% in volume ratio, and which is configured to convert light in a first wavelength band into light in a second wavelength band different from the first wavelength band, and a plurality of protruding parts which is disposed so as to be opposed to the first surface, and which includes a first protruding part and a second protruding part adjacent to each other. A height of the plurality of protruding parts is no smaller than 1 &#x3bc;m, and a distance between a vertex of the first protruding part and a vertex of the second protruding part in a direction along the first surface is no smaller than 3 &#x3bc;m.

A light source apparatus according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a substrate having a first surface, a frame, a lid with which the frame is provided, a light emitter that is accommodated in an accommodation space, a wavelength converter that is provided at the substrate, is accommodated in the accommodation space, converts first light emitted from the light emitter into second light having a wavelength different from the wavelength of the first light, and outputs the second light, and a first optical film that is provided in the light path between the light emitter and the wavelength converter, transmits one of the first light and the second light, and reflects the other one of the first light and the second light, and the light emitter emits the first light in such a way that the chief ray of the first light travels along the first surface.

A wavelength conversion element includes a wavelength conversion layer which has a first face on which an excitation light is incident and a second face facing the first face, a first layer which is provided facing the second face and contains a first inorganic oxide, a second layer which is provided facing the first layer and contains a first metal or a second inorganic oxide that is different from the first inorganic oxide, and a third layer which is provided facing the second layer, contains either silver or aluminum, and reflects the excitation light or a light obtained by wavelength conversion of the excitation light by the wavelength conversion layer.

A light source device according to the present disclosure includes a substrate having a first surface, a plurality of light emitting elements disposed on the first surface side of the substrate, a frame body which is disposed so as to surround the plurality of light emitting elements, and which is bonded on the first surface side of the substrate, and a lid body which has a light transmissive member, which is disposed so as to be opposed to the first surface of the substrate, and which is bonded on an opposite side of the frame body to the substrate. At least one of a first bonding section with which the substrate and the frame body are bonded to each other, and a second bonding section with which the frame body and the lid body are bonded to each other includes an organic adhesive.

A light source device according to the present disclosure includes a substrate having a first surface, a plurality of light emitting elements disposed on the first surface side of the substrate, a frame body which is disposed so as to surround the plurality of light emitting elements, and which is bonded on the first surface side of the substrate, and a lid body which has a light transmissive member configured to transmit light emitted from the plurality of light emitting elements, which is disposed so as to be opposed to the first surface of the substrate, and which is bonded on an opposite side of the frame body to the substrate. A wavelength conversion element according to an aspect of the invention includes a first wavelength conversion layer that has a first light incident surface on which excitation light is incident and a first light exiting surface facing away from the first light incident surface and emits first fluorescence, a second wavelength conversion layer that has a second light incident surface on which at least the first fluorescence is incident and emits second fluorescence, and a substrate that has a first surface and a second surface facing away from the first surface and includes a light transmitting portion that transmits at least the first fluorescence. The first wavelength conversion layer is so provided that the first light exiting surface faces the first surface of the substrate, and the second wavelength conversion layer is so provided that the second light incident surface faces the second surface of the substrate.

A wavelength converter to which the invention is applied includes a phosphor that converts the wavelength of blue light to emit fluorescence, a rotating mechanism that rotates the phosphor around an axis of rotation that extends in a light incident direction in which the blue light is incident, and a heat insulating member that is provided between the phosphor and the rotating mechanism in the light incident direction. The phosphor has a coinciding section that coincides with the rotating mechanism when viewed in the light incident direction.

A wavelength conversion element includes a substrate; a wavelength conversion portion that converts incident light of a first wavelength into light of a second wavelength different from the light of the first wavelength; and a bonding material that bonds the substrate and the wavelength conversion portion. The light ray flux contains a first light ray flux outputted from the first light emission unit and a second light ray flux outputted from the second light emission unit. a wavelength conversion element, a diffusive reflection element, and the color separation/light combining element are so disposed that part of the first light ray flux is incident on the diffusive reflection element via the first region, the other part of the first light ray flux is incident on the wavelength conversion element via the first region, a part of the second light ray flux is incident on the wavelength conversion element via the second region, and the second region combines the converted light with a part of light reflected off the diffusive reflection element to produce illumination light.
