In a method for producing gas turbine fuel through the step of modifying heavy fuel oil with the use of an asphaltene-insoluble solvent, the utilization factor of the heavy fuel oil usable as gas turbine fuel is increased by making asphaltene selectively removable. A solvent having a specific inductive capacity in the range of 1.4 to 2.0 is used as the asphaltene-insoluble solvent. In particular, water controlled in temperature and pressure so as to have a specific inductive capacity in the above range is used as the asphaltene-insoluble solvent. By using such a solvent, an asphaltene component contained in the heavy fuel oil can be selectively removed and power generation can be performed while utilizing 95% or more of the heavy fuel oil.

A gas turbine comprises a compressor for compressing a gas supplied therein and discharging the compressed gas, a combustor in which the discharged gas from the compressor and a fuel are combusted, a turbine to be driven by a combustion gas from the combustor, and a water injection unit which injects water into the gas to be supplied to the compressor, thereby lowering the temperature of the gas to be introduced into the compressor to a temperature lower than the atmospheric temperature, and causing water droplets having been injected in the gas and within the compressor to be vaporized while flowing down therein, wherein the quantity of water spray injection is controlled while monitoring operational conditions of the gas turbine.

To improve the thermal efficiency when an exhaust heat recovery type combined cycle plant having a gas turbine and a steam turbine in combination is operated at a partial load, the gas turbine exhaust is recirculated and returned to the compressor, and the combustion temperature is prevented from being lowered at the partial load. Preferably, the temperature is maintained constant. In this way, the thermal efficiency during operation at partial load can be improved.

A ceramic coated heat-resistant element comprises a heat resisting alloy base mainly composed of Ni and/or Co and a heat-resistant coating layer provided on the surface of the base and is characterized in that said heat-resistant coating layer comprises a metal layer of an alloy superior to the base in high-temperature corrosion and oxidation resistance and provided on the base, an Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 ceramic thin film layer provided on the metal layer, a ZrO.sub.2 ceramic coating layer having dense texture provided on the Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 ceramic thin film layer and a ZrO.sub.2 ceramic coating layer having columnar texture provided on the ZrO.sub.2 ceramic coating layer having dense texture cracks are present only in the ZrO.sub.2 ceramic coating layer having columnar texture in the direction of thickness along the boundary of the columns. A mixed layer composed of a metal superior to the base in high-temperature corrosion and oxidation resistance and a ZrO.sub.2 ceramic may be provided between the base and the metal layer.
