A secondary battery according to an embodiment includes a container having a pouring hole through which an electrolyte is poured, and housing the electrolyte, poured through the pouring hole, together with an electrode body; and a sealing lid which is fixed to the container and is closing the pouring hole. The sealing lid has a welding mark existing in a ring shape with a depth through the sealing lid to a lid body of the container, and an inner circumferential side molten mark existing in a ring shape overlapping with the welding mark, on the inner circumferential side of the welding mark in the sealing lid, with a depth corresponding to the thickness of the sealing lid.

A method for driving a gas discharge display panel consists of the steps of applying a writing pulse on a specific display electrode line selected from display electrode lines arranged side by side in the panel, applying a scanning pulse on a specific scanning electrode line selected from scanning electrode lines which are arranged side by side and cross the display electrode lines to produce writing gas discharge in cooperation with the writing pulse in a specific discharge cell arranged at an intersection space between the specific display electrode and the specific scanning electrode line, and applying a series of maintaining pulses subsequent to the scanning pulse on the specific scanning electrode during only a maintaining period to produce maintaining gas discharge subsequent to the writing gas discharge in the specific discharge cell, the maintaining gas discharge being intermittently produced in synchronism with the maintaining pulses. The scanning pulse is applied in synchronism with the writing pulse. The maintaining gas discharge is stopped without applying any pulse after the maintaining period passes.

A DC type gas-discharge display panel comprises a plurality of discharge cells; discharge current limiting means provided for each of the discharge cells, for limiting a discharge current of each of said discharge cells; and a filling gas filled into each of said discharge cells, and having an inert gas mixture. A partial pressure ratio of said inert gas mixture to total pressure of said filling gas is at least 0.95. The above-described inert gas mixture is selected from the group consisting of (1) a first gas mixture consisting of a He gas and a Xe gas, (2) a second gas mixture consisting of a He gas, a Xe gas, and a Kr gas, (3) a third gas mixture consisting of a Ne gas and a Xe gas, and (4) a fourth gas mixture consisting of a Ne gas, a Xe gas and a Kr gas. A DC type gas-discharge display panel comprises a plurality of discharge cells; discharge current limiting means provided for each of the discharge cells, for limiting a discharge current of each of said discharge cells; and a filling gas filled into each of said discharge cells, and having an inert gas mixture. A gas-discharge memory-type display panel having distinctively high radiation efficiency is realized by plural negative glow type discharge cells operating with a discharge electrode distance normalized filled gas pressure product (d.multidot.p.sub.o) being in the range of 0.5 to 8.0 Torr.multidot.cm, at an average discharge current of less than 50 .mu.A. Improved radiation efficiency can be further raised by direct viewing of radiation from fluorescent layers arranged flat on a rear plate of a simplified two-plate structure of a sealed envelope which can be readily manufactured.

This invention relates to an optical filter made of inorganic material for blue light which transfers blue light and absorbs all of the other colored lights by sticking an inorganic mixture powder pasted by mixing with screen oil on a glass substrate and firing it. The mixture includes transparent glass material powder and a combination of oxides of cobalt and aluminum. The contrast of a picture displayed on a display device can be substantially increased by reducing the reflection of incident ambient light without the reduction of brightness on account of the application of the above optical filter onto the displaying screen.

This invention relates to an optical filter made of inorganic material for green light which transfers green light and absorbs all of the other colored lights by sticking an inorganic mixture powder pasted by mixing with screen oil on a glass substrate and firing it. The mixture includes transparent glass powder and oxides of cobalt and either of chrome and a combination of aluminum and chrome. The contrast of a picture displayed on a display device can be substantially increased by reducing the reflection of incident ambient light without the reduction of brightness on account of the application of the above optical filter onto the displaying screen.

Optical filter made of inorganic material for green light

Light-emitting cells of a display device are individually provided with inner walls at least partially covered by white reflectors consisting of glass material containing transparent particles having different refractive index by 5 to 80% by weight, so that extremely high luminous efficiency similar as that of optical integrating sphere can be realized. Also, openings for emitting colored light can be applied with color filters while the front surface other than those openings of the display device is covered with light-absorbing black material, so that the reflectance for incident ambient light can be extremely reduced. According to the multiplexed effect of the above structure, remarkably high display contrast can be readily realized.

An image display device, particularly a gas discharge image display device comprising a plurality of display elements arranged in a matrix at every picture element and a plurality of driving circuits, the display elements being composed of either radiating elements or light quantity control elements, the voltage of a gradually varying waveform such as a saw-tooth waveform being supplied to a common bus connected to the emitters of semiconductors such as FETs, bipolar transistors or the like which provide the driving circuit for controlling currents flowing through the display elements, the level whereby the driving current is clipped being continuously varied so as to control effectively the currents flowing through the display elements, and the currents being subjected to one of amplitude modulation and a combination of amplitude modulation and duty time modulation in accordance with the level of the image signal.

Image display device

In a matrix type gas discharge display device comprising a number of discharge elements at the crossings of the rows and columns of the display matrix, a group of display anodes is disposed at each discharge element by using a corresponding number of insulated wires and by removing insulation of one wire at each discharge element, and such exposed portion is shifted to a successive one of the wires every one of the crossings in a column, so that when the field scanning is made in the column direction, each different anode wire in a group operates successively in cyclic order. The applied scanning voltage is so controlled as to make such successive operation of the anodes. By such a field scanning, each discharge element luminates for a duration which is an integral multiple due to such number, of the duration in the conventional type device provided with only one display anode for each discharge element. The brightness of the displayed picture is increased up to an extent by such integral multiple in a definite and stable manner, and thus noise in the displayed picture can be decreased.
