An aerostatic bearing comprises a bearing base having a plurality of first through-holes for air intake, a bearing clearance being formed between the bearing surface and the thrust shaft, and a self-controlled restrictor disposed so as to form a restricting spacing with the reverse surface of the bearing base, the self-controlled restrictor being adapted for automatically adjusting the flow rate of air supplied to the bearing surface corresponding to the variation of the pressure on the bearing surface. The self-controlled restrictor has a restricting disc and a circular leaf spring. The restricting disc has a second through-hole at the center. The restricting disc is held by an O ring that also functions as a fluid sealing. The second through-hole is adapted for supplying air to the restricting spacing. The circular leaf spring is integrally formed with the restricting disc of a bottomed cylindrical member. Air supplied from the second through-hole to the restricting spacing flows as a diverging flow. Thus, a restoring force is applied corresponding to the deviation of the angle of the restricting disc.

Hydrostatic bearing with self-controlled restricting mechanism

A numerical control (NC) device 10 for a machine tool 1 provided with a measurement probe 2b effects measurements of a work 4 on the machine table 5 after a working process. A measurement program, generated by the NC device by modifying a working program, controls the relative movement of the probe 2b with respect to the workpiece 4 such that the probe 2b moves along the contour of the worked portion of the workpiece 4 with a displacement from the neutral position thereof, wherein the displacement of the probe is sampled at a predetermined sampling period. A working error calculation program 17 calculates the working error from the sampled displacements. If the working error is judged correctable, a outside tolerance range and correction re-working is effected so as to reduce the working error. The measurement/re-working cycles are repeated until the working error is within tolerance.

A configured contour measuring apparatus comprising: a table movably provided on a bed; a driving mechanism for moving said table; first detecting mechanisms for detecting a value of movement of said table relative to the bed as a digital signal; a mount base provided on said table and made movable in a direction perpendicular to movement of said table; a detecting head secured to a column erected on said bed; a sliding shaft slidably provided on said detecting head and having a stylus at the lower end thereof in opposed relationship with said mount base; a balancer weight connected through a hanging line to said sliding shaft and made slightly lighter in weight than said sliding shaft; pulleys for supporting the intermediate portion of said hanging line; and second detecting mechanisms for detecting a value of movement of said sliding shaft as a digital signal.
