An accelerator pedal apparatus includes a pedal arm which includes an accelerator pedal; a housing which supports the pedal arm between a rest position and a maximum depression position as being rotatable around a predetermined swing axis line; a first return spring which exerts urging force to the pedal arm to return toward the rest position; and a reaction force adding mechanism which adds reaction force opposed to tread force of the accelerator pedal. The reaction force adding mechanism includes a movable member movably arranged against the housing while receiving reaction force of the first return spring, a reaction force spring arranged between the movable member and the pedal arm to be capable of generating reaction force against the tread force, and a lock member capable of locking the movable member not to be movable at desired timing.

A high-pressure fuel pump device of the invention includes a plunger-type high-pressure pump unit () configured to pressurize fuel as a plunger () thereof makes reciprocating motion, a diaphragm-type supply pump unit () configured to suck in fuel in a fuel tank () and supply the fuel to the high-pressure pump unit as a diaphragm () thereof oscillates in conjunction with the reciprocating motion of the plunger, and a fuel return unit () provided in the supply pump unit and configured to return, to the fuel tank, surplus fuel that is not sucked into the high-pressure pump unit.

An accelerator pedal apparatus includes a pedal arm having an accelerator pedal, a housing rotatably supporting the pedal arm between a rest position and a maximum depression position, a first return spring exerting urging force to return the pedal arm toward the rest position, a reaction force adding mechanism adding reaction force opposed to tread force of the accelerator pedal; and the reaction force adding mechanism includes a movable member arranged movably against the housing while receiving reaction force of the first return spring, a reaction force spring arranged between the movable member and the pedal arm as being capable of generating reaction force against the tread force, and a lock mechanism being capable of locking the movable member not to be movable at desired timing, so that fuel consumption can be improved by exerting resistance force to driver's depressing operation to suppress excessive depression.

A variable valve operating device is provided that can swiftly adjust a valve timing of an engine and is for adjusting a valve lift and the valve timing of the engine. The variable valve operating device includes a rocking cam, a rocking cam support member, a valve, a rocking position changing unit, and a lock unit that can fix the rocking cam support member so as not to move during a valve-opening period of the valve. The lock unit includes a support base that movably supports the rocking cam support member, and a push-link which is rocked by an actuator. When a tip end of the push-link abuts against the rocking cam support member, the push-link pushes the rocking cam support member toward the support base.

Variable valve operating device for engine

An electronically controlled throttle body has a torque motor including a stator and a moving portion (a slider), and a throttle shaft which is rotated by the torque motor. A rack as a plurality of gear teeth is formed at the moving portion, and a gear which mates with the rack is disposed at the throttle shaft. By arranging the radius of the gear appropriately to the reciprocating range of the slider, the motion of the slider is transmitted to the throttle shaft effectively. Therefore, the electronically controlled throttle body, can efficiently transmit motion of the torque motor, including a linear type, to the throttle shaft with a simple structure.

A controller supplies a predetermined constant current as a drive current to an electromagnetic actuator in response to detection of a non-normal state including an abnormal signal system and an abnormal engine start state, and a force that keeps an intake valve of an engine is appropriately controlled with this drive current. As a result, engine start characteristics are improved and an engine operation is maintained even when the signal system is abnormal.

A coupling unit provides a coupling between a valve element of an opening-closing valve and a moving element of an electromagnetic actuator so as to enable mutual movement of the two elements relative to each other within a predetermined restricted range. It is an object of the present invention to provide a drive unit for a direct-acting valve for internal combustion engines by which a quiet internal combustion engine can be obtained with noise suppressed. This system comprises an inlet valvearranged slidably near an inlet portof an internal combustion enginefor driving the inlet port to open and close, an electromagnetic actuatorthat drives the inlet valve to open and close, and a current control unitthat controls a driving current supplied to the electromagnetic actuator. The current control unit continuously supplies the driving current, having a controlled variable value, to the electromagnetic actuator based on the operation condition of the internal combustion engine.

An electromagnetic actuator that detects the position or speed of a drive unit, a valve drive unit and a position or speed sensor that employs the electromagnetic actuator are provided. In the electromagnetic actuator, a magnetic flux generator generates and distributes the magnetic flux. When the magnetic flux changes because of movement of a movable unit, a magnetic path is formed in a magnetic path component that is provided along the direction of movement of the movable unit. The magnetic path passes through a magnetic component. The magnetic flux distributed to the magnetic component is then detected.

A non-contact position sensor including a first stator having two magnet facing sides, a second stator having one magnet facing side aligned with the two magnet facing sides along a locus, a hall element between the first and second stators, and two magnets located next to each other along the locus opposite the three magnet facing sides so as to move freely along the locus. When configured as a rotary sensor, an arbitrary angle of usage can be set. When configured as a linear sensor, a magnet can be made thick without increasing leakage of magnetic flux.

The present driving apparatus comprises a torque motor as a driving source, and a gear train which transmits rotation of a motor shaft of the torque motor to a driven shaft, wherein the gear train comprises a non-circular driving gear which is attached to the motor shaft and a non-circular driven gear which is attached to the driven shaft and engaged with the non-circular driving gear. When the motor shaft rotates by supplying electric power to the torque motor, the rotation is transmitted to the non-circular driven gear via the non-circular driving gear, so that the driven shaft rotates. Here, the torque of the torque motor is transmitted to the driven gear while it is increased or decreased in accordance with rotating positions. In this manner, the driving apparatus with a torque motor can provide desired torque at any rotating position.

A valve driving apparatus includes a magnetic flux generating element in which an electromagnetic coil is wound to generate magnetic flux, a magnetic field generating element which has at least two poles to distribute magnetic flux and form at least one magnetic field region, a drive means which includes a magnetic path member, and a magnetized member arranged in accordance with the magnetic field region and having two magnetized faces with mutually different polarity to be connected and moved together with a valve rod united with a valve element. A current supply means supplies driving current to the electromagnetic coil whereby the current has polarities corresponding to either a valve closing direction or a valve opening direction of the valve element. The apparatus reduce impact of valve seating with a simple structure and controls the valve with less power consumption and with precision.

When an inlet valve is opened or closed via a first mover, by the operation of a first linear actuator, energy accumulated by a first spring or a second spring is discharged by the operation of a second linear actuator, to transmit the energy to the inlet valve via a second mover and the first mover. As a result, the inlet valve can be opened or closed at a high speed, with higher energy efficiency and has an improved durability.

In the present apparatus, a bypass exhaust pipe which communicates between the cylinder bore and the exhaust passage is disposed in the region of bottom dead center of the piston in an engine that comprises a piston that performs a reciprocating motion between top dead center and bottom dead center inside a cylinder bore, electromagnetic actuators which use an electromagnetic force to open and close an intake valve and an exhaust valve that open and close a combustion chamber, and an exhaust passage. As a result, in an engine in which the intake and exhaust valves are opened and closed by an electromagnetic driving mechanism, the opening and closing of the exhaust valve by an electromagnetic urging force can be securely and accurately performed at a specified timing without increasing the size or cost of the apparatus.

The throttle valve control device of the present invention comprises a structural body in which a throttle valve , a throttle shaft and a throttle lever are integrally connected, a return spring , one end of which is latched to the structural body , and which urges the throttle valve so as to rotate in the closing direction, a free lever which is engaged with the other end of the return spring, and which can contact and move away from the structural body, and an actuator which drives the free lever. The driving of the free lever by the actuator causes the structural body to pivot, so that the throttle valve is opened and closed in a specified range, thus controlling the idle speed. As a result, a throttle valve control device which has a simple structure and which can be made compact is provided.
