An electrical connector is provided for mounting on a circuit board and includes a dielectric housing mounting a plurality of first terminals having circuit board press-fit portions projecting therefrom. A plurality of second terminals are mounted on the housing and have circuit board press-fit portions projecting therefrom. A press-fitting block is engageable with the housing and is locked to the first terminals for press-fitting the first terminals into holes in the circuit board. The press-fit portions of the second terminals are exposed exteriorly of the housing and the press-fitting block for locking engagement by an appropriate independent pressfitting jig for press-fitting the second terminals into holes in the circuit board.

Board-mounted electrical connector

An improved electrical connector has a series of terminals arranged in two parallel rows in the connector housing, with the terminals being separated into upper and lower levels. The tail portions of the upper terminals have intermediate portions that are bent down to descend obliquely from the rear side of the connector housing while the tail portions of the lower terminals have corresponding intermediate portions that are bent up to rise obliquely from the rear side of the connector housing. The intermediate portions of the upper and lower rows of terminals meet with the solder tail portions of the tail portions along a common length so that the tail portions of both upper and lower rows have the same electrical length. The intermediate portions of both rows of terminals are also tapered, or flared along their length so that they have a larger surface area where they exit the connector housing than where they join to their associated solder tail portions. This tapering also assists in maintaining a desired impedance of the connector tail.

A flat flexible electrical cable includes a pair of pseudo-twisted conductors on a flexible dielectric substrate. Each conductor includes alternate straight and oblique sections. The straight sections of the conductors are generally parallel to each other and of uniform width. The oblique sections of the conductors cross each other at a crossover point. Each oblique section of each conductor is reduced in width uniformly in a direction from the straight-to-oblique transfer point of the respective conductor to the crossover point of the conductors.
