To provide a carbon fiber reinforcement having excellent thermal conductivity and mechanical properties which is manufactured by mixing together two different types of pitch-based carbon short fibers having a ratio of the degree of filament diameter distribution to average fiber diameter of 0.05 to 0.2 and a fiber length of 20 to 6,000 &#x3bc;m which differ from each other in average fiber diameter or by mixing one of them with a pitch-based carbon fiber web to improve dispersibility into a matrix resin or increase the dispersion ratio of the pitch-based carbon short fibers.

A carbon fiber having a total content of Li, Na, Ti, Mn, Fe, Ni and Co metal elements of no more than 50 ppm and a fiber diameter of 0.001 to 2 &#x3bc;m and not branched and a assembly of a plurality of the carbon fibers.

Carbon fiber

A method of decomposing a polycarbonate with water in a supercritical or subcritical state. A high-purity dihydroxy compound which is a constituent component of the polycarbonate can be recovered at a high yield by this decomposition method. This decomposition method is environment-friendly because it does not use an organic solvent, easy to be carried out, has a high decomposition rate and rarely causes a side reaction.
