A cooling apparatus for an internal combustion engine is provided in which a temperature detecting tip of a temperature sensor is arranged in a position where flow of a coolant is smooth, to thereby improve a measurement accuracy of coolant temperature. A thermoelement assemblyand the temperature sensorwhich detects the temperature of the coolant are accommodated in the housingarranged at a return channel of the coolant which flows from a radiator to a coolant inflow part of the engine. The temperature detecting tipof the temperature sensoris arranged to face the inside of a circulation holeof the housingbetween a valve bodywhich constitutes the thermoelement assembly and a frame support part formed in the circulation holeof the housing

Cooling apparatus for internal combustion engine

A coolant passage apparatusis formed by joining a plurality of resin moldingsandwhich are each individually molded. A pair of coolant receiving pipesandfor respectively receiving a coolant from a pair of engine heads and riser pipesandadjoining the coolant receiving pipes are provided, a central passageis formed between the riser pipes, and a communicating tubewhich is towards a radiator is formed to communicate with the central passage. Assuming that a line passing through the center of the central passageis (indicated by) A and lines passing through the centers of the above-mentioned riser pipes are (indicated by) B respectively, each of the lines B is outwardly and obtusely angled with respect to the line A, and the riser pipes are respectively molded on both sides of the central passage to incline outwardly.
