A sheet is cut between a first conveying unit and a second conveying unit in a state in which the first and second conveying units halt and in which an upstream conveying unit conveys the sheet at a first speed; after the sheet is cut, the first conveying unit conveys the sheet at a second speed higher than the first speed to reduce a slack formed during the halting; after the sheet is cut, the second conveying unit conveys the downstream-side sheet at a third speed higher than the first speed; if the third conveying unit is nipping the sheet during cutting, the third conveying unit conveys the sheet at the third speed; and if the third conveying unit is not nipping the sheet, the third conveying unit conveys the sheet at the third speed or a fourth speed after the detecting unit detects the sheet.

The multiple roller pairs nip the sheet at an upstream side of the print head to convey the sheet, nip the sheet at a downstream side of the print head, and nip the sheet at an upstream side of a first roller pair to convey the sheet. The direct sensor measures a surface of the conveyed sheet at a measurement position between a nip position of the first roller pair and a nip position of a third roller pair to obtain information relating to a movement state of the sheet. The control unit controls to correct at least one of driving control of the print head and conveying control of the sheet, based on the information obtained by the direct sensor.

Printing apparatus

An apparatus for performing duplex printing having a sheet feeding unit, a printing unit, a cutter unit, a drying unit, and a reverse unit. In the duplex printing, the printing unit prints a plurality of images on a first surface of a sheet fed from the sheet feeding unit. The sheet is a continuous sheet. The sheet printed on the first surface passes through the drying unit and is led to the reverse unit. The reverse unit feeds the reversed sheet to the printing unit and the printing unit prints a plurality of images on a second surface that is a back of the first surface of the sheet fed from the reverse unit. The cutter unit cuts the sheet printed on the second surface into a plurality of cut sheets each having the image printed thereon. The cut sheets pass through the drying unit and are ejected.

With front face printing, the sheet fed from a sheet feeding unit is led into a nipped position between a first pinch roller and a decurling roller from a first direction, and is discharged by decurling force being applied thereto at the decurling roller. On the other hand, the sheet fed from a reverse unit is led into the nipped position from a second direction opposite to the first direction, and is discharged by decurling force being applied thereto at the decurling roller.

An apparatus includes a guide unit configured to guide surfaces of a sheet, which is conveyed after passing through a recording unit, with respect to a vertical direction, the guide unit having an interval variable in the vertical direction, and a correction mechanism for correcting skew of the sheet, which is inserted into the guide unit, by pushing the sheet from both sides thereof in a sheet width direction. The interval of the guide unit in the vertical direction widens when the sheet is cut compared with that when correction is executed by the correction mechanism, and when the sheet is cut, conveyance of the sheet is temporarily stopped in a position of the cutter. In cutting, a loop of the sheet is formed on the guide unit the interval of which in the vertical direction has widened.

Recording apparatus and sheet processing method

A device includes a conveying unit conveying a sheet, a guide, disposed downstream of the conveying unit in a conveying direction, guiding one side end of the conveyed sheet while being in contact with a side end, a feeding unit obliquely conveying the sheet closer to the guide, a pressing unit pressing the conveyed sheet in a direction in which the sheet moves away from the guide, and a control unit controlling the pressing unit and the feeding unit so that the feeding unit nips the pressed sheet to form a loop in the sheet between the conveying unit and the feeding unit and then conveys the sheet while the side end of the sheet is in sliding contact with the guide.

A display unit includes a slide mechanism slidable in a lateral or vertical direction to a housing. A maintenance opening formed in the housing can be covered and uncovered. When the opening is uncovered, a user can access at least apart of a print section in the housing from the opening and perform maintenance.
