A roll paper printer includes a case that includes an accommodation section configured to accommodate roll paper, a cover that rotates about a cover hinge located below the case, and opens and closes the accommodation section, in which the cover includes a cover guide configured to guide the roll paper, the cover guide includes a first cover guide, a second cover guide, and a third cover guide disposed toward the cover hinge, the first cover guide and the second cover guide are configured to come into contact with the roll paper having a first diameter, whereas the third cover guide does not come into contact with the roll paper having the first diameter, when the cover is closed, and the third cover guide is inclined downward toward the accommodation section, and is configured to guide the roll paper to the accommodation section, when the cover is opened.

Roll paper printer

A printing apparatus includes a first projecting/retracting portion located at a first pressing position when a diameter of a roll paper R is larger than a first diameter and located at a first release position when the diameter of the roll paper R is smaller than the first diameter in a case where the printing apparatus is installed in a first posture, a second projecting/retracting portion located at a second pressing position when the diameter of the roll paper R is larger than a second diameter and located at a second release position when the diameter of the roll paper R is smaller than the second diameter in a case where the printing apparatus is installed in a second posture, and a detection section having a single sensor and detecting a displacement of the first projecting/retracting portion and a displacement of the second projecting/retracting portion by the sensor.

A printing apparatus is able to perform partial cutting in which a portion of thermal paper remains uncut and full cutting in which the thermal paper is completely cut, and the printing apparatus includes a movable blade, a plate, and a driven gear. The plate includes a guide groove, the movable blade includes a guide shaft, the guide groove includes a first side and a second side, and the second side includes a certain portion extending in a direction away from the first side. When the driving gear rotates in a first rotational direction, the guide shaft changes a position with respect to the guide groove along the first side to perform the partial cutting, and when the driving gear rotates in a second rotational direction, the guide shaft changes the position with respect to the guide groove along the second side to perform the full cutting.

A printing device includes: a casing having a cover configured to open and close; an operation unit provided in the casing, the operation unit not being exposed outside the casing when the cover is closed, the operation unit being exposed outside the casing when the cover is open; and a holding unit whose state switches to one of a hold state configured to hold an information processing device and a release state configured to release the information processing device, in response to an operation accepted by the operation unit.

A printer includes a first blade configured to be movable between a standby position and a cutting position, a second blade configured to contact the first blade located in the cutting position, a drive mechanism configured to drive the first blade, and a first elastic member configured to pull the first blade located in the cutting position. When the first blade is located in the cutting position, the first elastic member pulls the first blade in a direction in which the first blade moves to the standby position, and pulls the first blade in a direction in which the first blade approaches the second blade.

Cutter blade drive mechanism, cutter, and printer

A cutter blade moving mechanism moves a cutter blade to a forward position by a low output drive motor without an urging member urging the cutter blade to the forward position where media is cut. The first cutter blade moving mechanism has a drive gear that moves the first cutter blade forward and back; a drive motor; and a compound gear to which rotation of the drive motor is transferred. The intermittent teeth part of the compound gear meshes with a transfer gear after turning the compound gear is started by drive power from the drive motor, completing a rotation transfer path. Because there is a delay between when driving the drive motor starts and when the path transferring rotation from the drive motor to the drive gear is completed, rotational kinetic energy is stored in the compound gear during this delay. The transfer gear can therefore be turned with greater drive power (rotational kinetic energy) when the compound gear and transfer gear mesh.

A printing device has a guide roller that guides a print medium in a conveyance direction; an intersect roller pair that holds the print medium guided by the guide roller between a first roller that rotates on an axis of rotation in the conveyance direction of the print medium and a second roller that rotates on an axis of rotation that intersects the axis of rotation of the first roller; a conveyance roller pair that conveys the print medium held by the intersect roller pair in the conveyance direction by a conveyance drive roller driven by a drive means and a conveyance follower roller that rotates with the conveyance drive roller; and a print unit that prints on the print medium conveyed by the conveyance roller pair.

Media conveyance device and printing device

A printing head moving mechanism is configured to reciprocate a carriage equipped with a printing head between a printing position facing a recording medium and a retracted position retracted outside a printing region of the recording medium. In the printing position, the carriage is disposed at a downstream side of a transporting roller which is configured to transport the recording medium in a transporting direction of the recording medium. In the retracted position, at least a portion of the carriage is disposed at an upstream side of the transporting roller in the transporting direction of the recording medium. The carriage is configured to move between the printing position and the retracted position without interfering with the transporting roller.

Printer and printing head moving mechanism

A platen support mechanism of a printer moves a platen unit of the printer. When moving the platen unit from a closed position to an open position, the platen support mechanism of the printer first moves the platen unit along a straight first path, and then moves the platen unit along a curved second path. A posture of the platen unit is held constant during this time by a six joint linkage mechanism.

Printer platen support mechanism and roll paper printer

Ink on a transportation roller that touches the printing surface of a recording medium can be regularly removed without affecting media transportation performance. The cleaning mechanism has a cleaning lever that is pivotably supported with one end extending to above the discharge follower roller downstream from the printing position and the other end urged upward. When a cover attached to the roll paper loading opening is closed, the cleaning lever is held in resistance to this urging force at a position not touching the discharge follower roller by the fixed knife and movable knife of a cutter disposed downstream from the discharge follower roller. When the cover starts to open, the movable knife on the platen unit moves and the fixed knife separates from the cleaning lever, and the cleaning lever contacts the discharge follower roller.
