A magnetized pulsar ring of the invention is a pulsar ring fixed to an outer peripheral surface of a supporting member and including a ring body in which a number of magnetic poles are at predetermined intervals in a peripheral direction. A one-way clutch includes a retainer (), a spring () guided by the retainer, and sprags () which are pivotally provided in respective pockets of the retainer and respective pockets of the spring. A method for manufacturing a one-way clutch cage allows slits of the cage to be formed with a short punching distance, wherein the slits are narrow in width and the cage is less prone to deformation. In this method for manufacturing a one-way clutch cage, after slits,have been formed, windows,are formed and then an outer annular part,is cut. Therefore, since the slits can be formed in a cylindrical member,that has not yet been subjected to the window formation process of the outer annular part cut-out process, and that is sufficiently strong, a radially diagonal punching operation can be performed to form the slits. During this radially diagonal punching operation, a boundary portion between a cylindrical portion,and an outer flange,is punched out from an inside of the cylindrical member toward an outside of the cylindrical member. Thus, the punching distance can be shortened, the punching die can be thinned in thickness and the slit width can be reduced, as compared with horizontal punching.

Method for manufacturing a one-way clutch cage

A one-way clutch comprises a first ring, a second ring spaced from the first ring to define an annular space therebetween, engaging members disposed in the annular space, at least one holding member for holding the engaging members, and a biasing member for biasing the engaging members in one direction. A pair of annular retaining members are disposed on opposite sides of the first and second rings to close the annular space between the first and second rings. Each annular retaining member has an inner surface provided with first and second stepped portions at first and second inner peripheral end surfaces thereof, respectively. The first stepped portion of each of the annular retaining members receives an end of the first ring, and the second stepped portion of each of the annular retaining members receives an end of the second ring. At least one of the annular retaining members has an annular recess at the inner surface thereof for receiving an end of the holding member.

A method of manufacturing an engaging element for a one way clutch requires no special control with respect to such factors as squareness between a cam face and side surfaces, possible flaws, and cut size, and enables production of the engaging element for a one way clutch at low cost. The method includes shearing a material by a press to prepare a sheared member of a predetermined size, and a forging process. The forgoing process includes a first step of striking one sheared surface of the sheared member, a second step of inverting the sheared member and striking the other sheared surface of the sheared member, a third step of inverting the sheared member and striking the one sheared surface of the sheared member, and a fourth step of inverting the sheared member and striking the other sheared surface of the sheared member.

Method of manufacturing an engaging element for one way clutch improving

A one-way clutch according to the present invention comprises an outer race fitted in a housing member, an inner race, a plurality of engaging members arranged between the outer race and the inner race, a cage for holding the engaging members, a spring for biasing each of the engaging member in one direction, annular members arranged on the opposite sides of the outer race so as to close a space between the inner and outer races, said inner race being formed of metal, one of said annular members being formed of synthetic resin, and an integral molding means for integrally forming the inner race and the annular member. According to a further embodiment, one annular member and the cage are integrally molded with synthetic resin.

An end bearing for one-way clutch which is preferred for use in an automatic transmission is disclosed. The end bearing comprises a body formed of a steel plate, a hard coating applied to the surface of the body, and a soft coating applied to the surface of the hard coating. The steel plate of the body assures a sufficient rigidity. Regions of the end bearing which provide sliding surfaces are covered by a soft coating and a hard coating, which improves the anti-seizing resistance and the durability of the end bearing.

In a one-way clutch, an outer ring has an internal portion whose hardness is substantially the same as that of its periphery, both hardnesses preferably being HRC 55 or more. When sprags interposed between the outer ring and inner ring are engaged with an inner peripheral surface of the outer ring and press the inner peripheral surface radially outwardly, the internal portion having the hardness of HRC 55 or more backs up the inner peripheral surface to prevent the inner peripheral surface from being deformed radially outwardly. In a one-way clutch, an outer retainer is made of a plastic while an inner retainer is made of a fiber-reinforced plastic. Thus, this one-way clutch is lightweight and can be produced at a low cost. The fiber-reinforced plastic of the inner retainer has a greater strength than the plastic of the outer retainer so that inner portions of sprags that serve as center portions about which the sprags swing can be retained by the inner retainer more securely than can the outer portions of the sprags be retained by the outer retainer.

An improvement is made on a one-way clutch having an inner ring, an outer ring having projections to be engaged with corresponding recesses of a housing, a plurality of engagement members disposed between the inner and outer rings, a cage for the engagement members, a spring member for forcing the engagement members in one direction, a pair of end bearings disposed in opposite lateral positions between the inner and outer rings, and a pair of end bearing retainer plates to be fitted on end faces of the outer ring. Grooves are respectively formed on opposite end portions of an outer peripheral surface of the projections of the outer ring at regular intervals in a circumferential direction. Each of the end bearing retainer plates is provided with fitting portions which are integrally formed around an outer periphery of the end bearing retainer plate at regular intervals and which are respectively engaged with the grooves of the outer ring. One of the end bearing retainer plates is also provided with spring portions which are integrally formed around the outer periphery and which axially project to rest against a part of the housing when placed in position in the housing.

In a one-way clutch, a plurality of sprags held by a retainer in a swingable manner and forced by a spring in one direction are interposed between an inner ring and an outer ring. A pair of end bearings are slidably fit to the outer ring on both sides of the retainer between the inner and outer rings. A pair of annular retainer plates each having a plurality of pawls around an outer periphery are provided so that the annular retainer plates support the end bearings in opposite axial directions when fastened to the outer ring by the pawls. An annular recessed portion is concentrically formed on an annular part of each annular retainer plate. When the retainer plates are mounted in position, the annular recessed portion of one of the retainer plates is opposite both a radially inside part of one end face of the outer ring and a radially outside part of a corresponding end face of one of the end bearings, and the annular recessed portion of the other retainer plate is opposite both a radially inside part of the other end face of the outer ring and a radially outside part of a corresponding end face of the other end bearing.
