The present invention provides a toner for developing an electrostatic latent image including: toner mother particles containing a binder resin and a colorant; and manganese compound particles having a &#x3b3;-type crystalline structure, the production method thereof, and a developer containing the toner.

The present invention provides a mono-component developer comprising toner particles containing a binding resin, a colorant and an additive and a method of forming images by use thereof. In the present invention said additive is preferably a titanium compound prepared by through the reaction between TiO(OH).sub.2 and a silane compound or through the reaction between TiO(OH).sub.2 and a silicone oil. The specific gravity of the said titanium compound is in the range of 2.8 to 3.6. The average particle diameter thereof is in the range of 10 to 70 nm. The said toner particle is preferably a non-magnetic particle. By making use of the mono-component developer and the method for forming an image using it, charging of the toner, and carriage of the toner can be stabilized over a long period of time, and stable image formation can be obtained.

An electrophotographic dry toner comprising toner particles having externally added thereto fine particles of an inorganic compound having been surface treated with an amphoteric surface active agent. The toner is excellent in fluidity, anti-caking properties, charging properties, and environmental stability and provides excellent images free from defects such as black spots.

A negatively electrifiable, non-magnetic and single component developer comprising a binder resin, a carbon black and a charge control agent, wherein the carbon black has an average primary particle diameter of 20 to 50 nm and a pH of 2 to 5, and the charge control agent comprises a compound represented by the following formula: ##STR1## wherein M represents a metal atom selected from the group consisting of zinc, iron, nickel and cobalt, and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms. An image forming process using the developer is also disclosed. This one-component developer, which is suitable for use as a black toner in color image formation, can be stably charged and transported over long to give images free from fogging and having evenness of density and hardly poses problems such as dirts and color mixing over long.

The present invention provides a toner for developing an electrostatic image which inhibits the filming of a wax on the development sleeve and photoreceptor to obtain a stable image. The present invention also provides a toner for developing an electrostatic image which provides a practically sufficiently wide fixing latitude. The present invention further provides an image formation process for forming a copied image with an excellent dot reproducibility, fine line reproducibility and gradation. A novel toner for developing an electrostatic image is provided, which comprises a particulate toner containing a polyolefin wax and a modified polyolefin wax, wherein the average diameter of wax particles dispersed in the particulate toner is not more than 0.5 .mu.m and the amount of wax exposed on the surface of said particulate toner is from 40 to 65% by weight. The particulate toner may comprise a finely divided magnetic powder in an amount of from 30 to 70% by weight. The content of modified polyolefin wax in the particulate toner is preferably greater than that of polyolefin wax.

An electrostatic charge developing toner composition comprising (i) toner particles containing a low-molecular weight polypropylene wax and/or a low-molecular weight polyethylene wax, having a volume average particle size of from 4 to 9 .mu.m, and an exposed amount (X% by weight) of the wax on the surface of the toner in the range of 40.ltoreq.X.ltoreq.65, and (ii) abrasive fine particles having an average particle size of from 0.5 to 5.5 .mu.m, and an image-forming process using the toner. A toner composition for electrostatic charge development having high cleaning property and inhibiting wear of a photoreceptor, filming and deletion. The toner composition comprises toner particles and fluorine-containing cerium oxide fine particles added to the toner particles. The fluorine content of the fluorine-containing cerium oxide fine particles is from 0.1 to 10% by weight. The toner composition is used in an image forming process comprising the steps of (a) charging a latent image carrier, (b) forming an electrostatic latent image on the latent image carrier, (c) developing the electrostatic latent images with a developing agent to form a toner image, (d) transferring the resulting toner image to a receiving material, and (e) removing a toner remaining on the latent image carrier.

A dry developer composition for an electrostatic latent image is disclosed. The developer composition comprises a magnetic powder-dispersed type carrier comprising a binder resin having dispersed therein a magnetic powder and a toner having adhered thereto inorganic oxide fine particles, wherein at least part of said carrier has previously adhered to the surface thereof inorganic oxide fine particles. The developer composition does not cause background stains over long-term copying even in the relatively initial stage of running.

A dry toner for developing electrostatic images is disclosed, which comprises a binder resin, a colorant and a wax consisting of a low molecular weight polypropylene and a high density polyethylene having a density of 0.96 or more, a molecular weight of 2,000 to 20,000 and an acid value of 1 or less, wherein the wax is dispersed in the binder resin to form domains having a size of 0.1 to 1.5 .mu.m. A process for producing the toner is also disclosed.

A dry developer for an electrophotographic process, said dry developer being composed of a toner and a dispersion type carrier composed of a resin and a magnetic powder, wherein polyethylene having a molecular weight of not larger than 10,000, a density of at least 0.95, and an average volume diameter of not larger than 15 .mu.m is externally added to the toner or directly mixed with the developer. The dry developer shows good fluidity and cleaning property, is excellent in environmental stability and durability, and can prevent the occurrence of the toner film phenomenon on a photoreceptor or carrier surfaces.
