A switching substrate on which switching portions are mounted is attached at an angle to a case. The length in the pressing direction of a first push button of a push button unit is larger than the length in the pressing direction of a second push button. A first contact portion about which the push button unit rotates when the first push button is pressed and a second contact portion about which the push button unit rotates when the second push button is pressed are at substantially the same height from the surface of the switching substrate. Therefore, the rotation angle when a first operating surface is pressed can be made equal to the rotation angle when a second operating surface is pressed.

Pressing-type input device

A novel game controller is provided. The game controller includes: a lower operation button supported by a rotation shaft so as to be capable of a rotating operation; a resistor arranged on an internal substrate; and a conductive member to be pressed against the resistor by a rotating operation on the lower operation button, the conductive member having elasticity. The resistor outputs an analog signal in accordance with a contact area of the conductive member, thereby realizing an analog input.

Operating device and game controller

In an operating unit, push buttons are integrally formed via a connecting section, and the top face of the connecting section abuts the bottom face of a panel. On side-faces of the push buttons, an outwardly protruding flange is integrally formed. The top face of the flange is set to be at a position higher than that of the top face of the connecting section. When one of the push buttons is pressed down, the operating unit is rotated about a point in the inside of another of the push buttons as a fulcrum so as to turn on the output of a switch member. Because the operating unit is rotated about the inside point as the fulcrum, other switch members cannot be switched.

Operation apparatus using operating unit having plural push-buttons formed integrally therewith

A mouse has a ball, a rotation detecting section for detecting the rotation of the ball, and a casing for containing the ball and the rotation detecting section. A hole is formed at a position on the upper surface of the casing directly above the ball, and covered with a transparent acrylic plate. This structure allows the operator to make certain, during operation, that the ball is smoothly rotating. The ball is placed offset toward the leading end of the mouse.
