Disclosed herein is a motor driver including: a motor current phase detector configured to detect a motor current phase and output a result of the detection as motor current phase information; a motor phase detector configured to detect a motor phase and output a result of the detection as motor phase information; a phase correction value calculator configured to calculate a correction value based on a difference between the motor current phase information and the motor phase information and output a result of the calculation as compensation information; and a motor applied voltage calculator configured to calculate a motor applied voltage representing a voltage to be applied to the motor based on the compensation information and motor phase information received and output a result of the calculation as a phase-compensated motor applied voltage signal.

Motor driver and control method

A display panel drive device includes: a ring counter circuit that includes a first ring counter having a plurality of flipflops connected in cascade, configured to operate in synchronization with a first clock signal with a first-stage one of the plurality of flipflops being set by an initial signal, and outputs signals using outputs of the plurality of flipflops; a shift register having a plurality of flipflops connected in cascade, configured to operate in synchronization with a second clock signal lower in frequency than the first clock signal with a first-stage one of the plurality of flipflops being set by the initial signal; and an output section configured to perform a logical operation between one of outputs of the ring counter circuit and one of outputs of the shift register, to generate a scanning line drive signal for a display panel.

There are provided upper and lower switching elementsU toW andU toW for energizing motor drive windingsU toW, a control circuitthat starts outputting a control signal for energization based on an energization instruction, pre-drive circuitsU toW andU toW for controlling ON/OFF of the upper and lower switching elements based on the control signal, and short circuit detection circuitsU toW for detecting short circuits in a nodebetween the upper and lower switching elements to higher-potential and lower-potential power sources based on the control signal and a voltage of the node. The short circuit detection circuits are controlled to detect a short circuit in the node to the lower-potential power source with all the upper switching elements turned ON and all the lower switching elements turned OFF and to detect a short circuit in the node to the higher-potential power source with all the upper switching elements turned OFF and all the lower switching elements turned ON, in a state where the motor drive windings are not energized. It is possible to prevent a situation in which a short circuit cannot be detected depending on a resistance component of a drive target.
