A torque measuring device includes: a coil unit having a detection coil configured to change a voltage in response to a change in magnetic permeability of a magnetostrictive effect section of a rotating shaft; a back yoke arranged coaxially around the coil unit; a holder configured to hold the coil unit and the back yoke; and an electronic circuit including the detection coil and configured to generate an output voltage according to a voltage of the detection coil, a clearance in a radial direction is provided between an outer peripheral surface of the coil unit and an inner peripheral surface of the back yoke, and a range of change in the clearance that accompanies temperature change during use is regulated to a range in which a change in the output voltage is linear with respect to the change in the clearance.

Torque measuring device and manufacturing method thereof

A method of manufacturing a magnetostrictive torque sensor shaft () to which a sensor portion () of a magnetostrictive torque sensor () is mounted. The method includes heat treatment step of subjecting an iron-based shaft member to a carburizing, quenching, and tempering process, and a shot peening step of performing shot peening using a boron-free zirconia shot media having a Vickers hardness at least equal to 1100 and at most equal to 1300, at least in a position on the shaft member, after the heat treatment step, to which the sensor portion is to be attached. The surface of the shaft member, after shot peening, has a total error, including hysteresis error and angle error, of not more than 3%.

Method of manufacturing magnetostrictive torque sensor shaft

Provided is a method for manufacturing a magnetostrictive torque sensor shaft mounting a sensor portion of a magnetostrictive torque sensor. The method includes conducting heat treatment on a shaft material including chrome steel or chrome-molybdenum steel by carburizing, quenching and tempering, and conducting shot peening on the shaft material after the heat treatment at least on a position where the sensor portion is to be mounted. The shot peening is conducted by firing shot with a particle size of not less than 0.6 mm and a Rockwell hardness of not less than 60 at a jet pressure of not less than 0.4 MPa for a jet exposure time of not less than 2 minutes.

Method for manufacturing magnetostrictive torque sensor shaft

A magnetostrictive torque sensor includes detection coils formed around a magnetostrictive material made of chrome steel or chrome molybdenum steel, a magnetic ring configured to cover around the detection coils, and a drive unit for providing alternating current excitation to the detection coils at an excitation frequency of 50 kHz or more and 333 kHz or less. A torque applied to the magnetostrictive material is detected based on a change in inductance of the detection coils. The magnetic ring is configured by wrapping around the detection coils with an amorphous tape made of amorphous soft magnetic material in a tape shape. The thickness of the magnetic ring is 1.455 times or more as thick as a skin effect thickness of the magnetostrictive material and less than 1.000 mm.

Magnetostrictive torque sensor and design method of thickness of magnetic ring for magnetostrictive torque sensor

A torque sensor to detect torque transmitted by a shaft having magnetostrictive properties is provided with a pair of cylindrical detection units arranged around the shaft and aligned side-by-side in an axial direction of the shaft, and first and second connection lines connecting the pair of detection units. Each detection unit includes first to fourth detection coils stacked in a radial direction. A series circuit formed by series connecting the first and fourth detection coils is parallel connected to a series circuit formed by series connecting the second and third detection coils. The first and second connection lines are configured to connect between corresponding connecting portions of the first and fourth detection coils and between corresponding connecting portions of the second and third detections coils, respectively. The torque transmitted by the shaft is detected based on a potential difference between the first connection line and the second connection line.

A magnetostrictive-type sensor temperature-detecting circuit configured to be used in a magnetostrictive-type sensor including an applied stress-detecting coil, and a driving section to output an alternating voltage, excite the coil with a resulting alternating electric current, and switch flow directions of the electric current flowing in the coil in response to switching voltage polarities of the output alternating voltage, to detect a temperature of the coil in the sensor. This temperature-detecting circuit includes an alternating electric current direction switching time-detecting section to detect an amount of time from when the voltage polarities of the output alternating voltage are switched until when the flow directions of the electric current flowing in the coil are switched, and a temperature-computing section to compute the temperature of the coil on the basis of the amount of time detected by the alternating electric current direction switching time-detecting section.

A detection circuit for a magnetostrictive torque sensor is configured to detect a torque applied to a magnetostrictive material treated by shot peening. The detection circuit includes a detection coil provided around the magnetostrictive material, and a drive unit for providing alternating current excitation to the detection coil. The torque applied to the magnetostrictive material is detected based on a change in inductance of the detection coil, and the drive unit provides alternating current excitation at a frequency at which a skin effect thickness is not more than an effective depth of the shot peening.

Detection circuit and detection method for magnetostrictive torque sensor

The deflector structure includes: a fixed part fixed to a side frame; an affected part arranged anterior to the fixed part and affected by onrushing air; an arm portion having one end pivotally connected to the fixed part and the other end holding the affected part, and vertically pivoted about the fixed part; and a lock member having one end pivotally connected to the arm portion and the other end pivoted in conjunction with the arm portion being pivoted, wherein the lock member is configured such that a lock main body of the lock member is in contact with the fixed part and raised, at a predetermined pivot position, to lock the arm portion being pivoted downward.
