A single bead-shaped piece fed from a storage pipe storing therein a large number of bead-shaped pieces is carried not on a bearing plate but on a support member provided independently from the bearing plate. The support member is arranged movable on the bearing plate in conjunction with forward and backward movement of a feeding member, and also arranged to be moved relative to the feeding member at the time of the forward or backward movement thereof. The support member is provided with a clamping section for clamping the bead-shaped piece, which is adapted to clamp the bead-shaped piece in conjunction with the relative movement of the feeding member and the support member. This permits the bead-shaped piece to be delivered properly from the storage pipe to the sewing position in a stable manner, and hence a sewing machine can reliably sew the bead-shaped piece on a sewing material.

Bead feeder

A multi-head sewing machine includes a machine table () and a plurality of sewing heads (). The sewing heads are disposed to oppose to the machine table and arranged in a row in a first direction substantially parallel to a surface of the machine table. A workpiece setting frame () serves to releasably hold a long workpiece () and is movable within a plane substantially parallel to the surface of the machine table. A feeding mechanism (W, W) serves to feed the workpiece relative to the workpiece setting frame in a direction substantially parallel to the first direction.

Multi-head sewing machines having devices for feeding long workpieces

Disclosed is a multi-head sewing machine having an improved structure for driving a main shaft and a lower shaft for driving needle bars and thread take-up levers so as to prevent distortion of these shafts, in turn, variation of stitch performance in the respective heads from occurring. The sewing machine comprises a plurality of heads, having at least a needle bar and a thread take-up lever, arranged in a row; a plurality of shuttle holders corresponding to the number of heads, each supporting therein a shuttle, arranged in a row; a main shaft, penetrating the row of heads, which rotates to drive the needle bar and the thread take-up lever in each head; and a lower shaft, penetrating the row of shuttle holders, which rotates to drive the shuttle in each shuttle holder; wherein the sewing machine further comprises a drive shaft, extended parallel to the main shaft, which is rotationally driven by a drive motor, the rotational driving force of the drive shaft being adapted to be transmitted to the main shaft at more than one position.

Multi-head sewing machine

A sewing machine serves to form stitches on a curved work fabric by an upper and a lower thread through cooperation of a shuttle and a needle vertically reciprocally driven. The sewing machine includes a holder device for retaining the work fabric to be sewn. The holder device is supported by a support device and is rotatably within a plane in parallel to X axis. The support device is movable in a direction of Y axis. The X axis and the Y axis are perpendicular to each other within a plane extending substantially perpendicular to the driving direction of the needle. The holder device is rotated by an X axis drive mechanism within the plane in parallel to the X axis. The support device is moved by a Y axis drive mechanism in the direction of the Y axis. The holder device serves to retain the work fabric so as to provide a sewable area for substantially the entire circumferential surface of the work fabric.

A pilot injection device for a fuel injection pump has an accumulate piston movable in response to a fuel pressure from a pressurizing chamber of the fuel injection pump to cause a pilot injection prior to a main injection by the pump. The device is provided with a back-pressure chamber filled with fuel and having a volume variable by the movement of the accumulate piston. Air trapped in the back-pressure chamber can be removed therefrom through a hole to improve the operation characteristic of the pilot injection device.
