Laminated rubber support and method of designing the same

A shakeproof bearing or an earthquake-proofing structure (10) comprises a columnar bearing body (13) and a surrounding high damping elastomer (14). The bearing body (13) includes a stack of rigid plates (12) and elastic plates (11) alternating with one another. The high damping elastomer (14) may be shaped into an annular cylinder or, alternatively, may be in the form of a columnar stack of alternating annular rigid plates (18) and annular high-damping-elastomer plates (17).

Shakeproof bearing

This invention is intended to provide a vibration damping device having a high degree of freedom of design of damping performance. This device includes rolling bodies (4) interposed between an upper structure (1) and a lower structure (2) to horizontally swingably support the upper structure (1) and elastomeric members (5) disposed between the rolling bodies (4) and the upper and lower structures (1, 2). In this device, rolling surfaces for the rolling bodies (4) are formed by elastomeric members (5) and rigid members (6). For example, the elastomeric and rigid members (5, 6) are disposed respectively in association with the opposite end regions and central regions of the rolling bodies (4). The elastomeric members (5) may be made of any desired material provided that it has viscoelasticty and the rigid member 6 may be made of any desired material provided that the rolling friction of the rolling bodies (4) thereon differs from that on the elastomeric members (5). For example, metal, ceramic material, rigid plastic material, FRP, FRM, and PTFE are preferable.

Vibration damping device

The present invention provides a shock absorbing structure made of a rubber-like elastic material having a hardness in the range of 5 to 60, according to a JIS-A type hardness meter and being composed of a base and a plurality of ridges or projections spaced apart in parallel on said base. The shock absorbing structure according to the present invention is suitable as a shock absorbing material, especially, for shoes.

Shock absorbing structure

A laminated rubber bearing comprising a columnar-shaped viscoelastic body 5, a plurality of viscoelastic members 4, and an external binding body 1 disposed in the periphery of these components. The external binding body 1 is a laminated body consisting of alternating rigid plates 3 and rubber-like elastic plates 2 with rubber-like elastic plates 2 disposed between external peripheral regions of the rigid plates 3. The viscoelastic members 4 are disposed inside of those rubber-like elastic plates 2 of the external binding body 1 so that the viscoelastic members 4 fill up clearance between the rigid plates 3 inside of respective rubber-like elastic plates 2. A cylindrical cavity 6 open at both ends thereof extends through the viscoelastic members 4 and the rigid plates 3. A viscoelastic body 5, an elastic body, or viscous substance having cubage greater than that of the cylindrical cavity 6 is forcedly inserted in the cylindrical cavity 6.

Laminated rubber bearing

The present invention relates to a vibration-proofing device which supports an upper structure, such as a building, computers and other machines or a floor having such machines mounted thereon, on a lower structure, as a foundation, to allow the upper structure to swing, thereby isolating earthquakes, traffic vibrations and vibrations from the equipment installed in another room so as to protect the upper structure from vibrations. The invention is to provide a bearing type of vibration-proofing device which is simple in construction and capable of reliably absorbing not only horizontal but also vertical components of earthquakes, traffic vibrations and other vibrations, whether they are weak or strong, and which properly operates under low load and produces little vibration during operation. The invention provides an arrangement wherein interposed between upper and lower structures are rolling bodies for horizontally supporting the upper structure for swing movement. The rolling bodies are in the form of cylindrical rollers, elastomeric bodies are interposed between the cylindrical rollers and the upper and lower structures. It is desirable that the cylindrical rollers be stacked in n rows and that these rows of cylindrical rollers form an angle of 180.degree. /n. An air spring or coil spring device is disposed vertically of the cylindrical rollers and a plurality of taper rollers is radially arranged in a horizonial plane vertically of the cylindrical rollers.

Vibration-proofing device

The present invention relates to an earthquake-proofing device wherein a superstructure is placed and supported for horizontal movement on a foundation structure so as to increase the natural vibration period of the superstructure, thereby protecting the superstructure against earthquake energy and traffic vibration. More particularly, the outer periphery of an elastic body, visco-elastic body or viscous body which hardly exhibits rigidity by itself is surrounded by a restrainer which restrains it from bulging outward, thereby enabling the body to develop high vertical rigidity while allowing it to retain horizontal deformability, the body being used as a load carrier. The restrainer and/or load carrier absorbs vibration energy by frictional damping action. According to this construction, besides the above-described basic performance essential to earthquake-proofing devices, there are the following advantages: (1) The points of action of the restoring force and damping force coincide with each other, so that the structure is protected against unnecessary torsional vibration; (2) the range of selection of materials for the load carrier is wide, so that characteristics can be designed in a wide range as desired; and (3). The initial shear rigidity at the start of vibration is so low that the structure can also be protected against slight vibration.

Earthquake-proofing device of peripherally restraining type

An earthquake-proofing device of peripherally restrained type including a laminate constructed by alternately laminating rigid plates and rubber-like elastic plates, the laminate being formed with a cylindrical hollow portion which opens at its opposite ends as viewed in the direction of lamination, and a visco-elastic body to be inserted into the cylindrical hollow portion to fill the latter. The earthquake-proofing device is characterized in that the volume of the visco-elastic body is greater than that of the cylindrical hollow portion by an amount corresponding to the product of the portion of the inner surface area of the cylindrical hollow portion opposed to the rubber-like elastic plates and 5-60% of the thickness of a single rubber-like elastic plate. The visco-elastic body having such excessive volume is pressed into the cylindrical hollow portion.

The club head can be 10 to 60% lighter than a club head made entirely of steel with the same configuration and size, while the moment of inertia is approximately the same.
