A vehicle lamp includes a plurality of light source modules that includes light sources including a plurality of light emitting elements that emit different colors of light and lens bodies disposed in front of the light sources, and the plurality of light source modules are disposed in a matrix manner in a plane to constitute at least one light emitting area.

In an exemplary embodiment, a laser light source device includes a laser light source that emits laser light from a laser emission aperture. The laser light source device also includes a condenser lens disposed in front of the laser light source in a laser emission direction to collect the laser light. The laser light source device also includes a fluorescent member disposed in front of the condenser lens in the laser emission direction to receive the laser light collected by the condenser lens and to emit light of a different wavelength from that of the laser light. The laser light source device also includes a light guide that forms a light path of laser light from the laser light source to the condenser lens.

A headlamp for a vehicle includes a light source adapted to emit a spotlight, a lens adapted to receive and transmit the spotlight, a lens actuator adapted to adjust a size of the spotlight transmitted through the lens, a two-dimensional optical deflector adapted to deflect the spotlight from the lens to an illumination area ahead of the vehicle, and a control circuit configured to control the lens actuator in such a way that irregularity of illumination in the illumination area is avoided.

A liquid-cooled LED lighting device can be provided in which a temporal increase in the temperature of the tubing and the circulation pump when the LED light sources are turned off is prevented to ensure high reliability. The liquid-cooled LED lighting device can include an LED light source, a liquid cooling system including a heat receiving jacket and a radiator, an LED light source-driving power supply for supplying power to the LED light source, and a liquid cooling system-driving power supply for supplying power to the liquid cooling system. The LED lighting device can include a control unit, such as a timer circuit. The control unit can maintain supply of the power to the liquid cooling system for a predetermined period of time after supply of the power to the LED light source is stopped.

A light source apparatus for vehicle lamps and particularly vehicle headlights can include a plurality of LED elements can be mounted in a cavity located on a base surface or on a base. Each of the LED elements can be arranged in such a manner as to form an emission shape and a brightness distribution that is suited for a light distribution pattern, and especially a light distribution pattern for a vehicle headlight.

A wavelength conversion structure includes a light guide formed of a light-transmissive member having a laser light incident port that allows the laser light to be introduced and a phosphor-containing layer that covers at least part of the surface of the light guide. The light guide has a light diffusing structure having asperities and a light reflecting film. The asperities are formed over the surface of the light guide except a laser light incident surface having the laser light incident port. The light reflecting film is formed over the surface of the light guide along the asperities except the laser light incident port and the portion covered with the phosphor-containing layer.

Wavelength conversion structure and light source apparatus

A cooling liquid can be circulated in a liquid cooling system, so that a light source unit and a control unit can be forcedly cooled by the cooling liquid. Thus, a temperature increase in these components can be suppressed, thereby achieving an increase in the output power of a liquid-cooled LED lighting device. The liquid-cooled LED lighting device can include a housing, a light source unit having LEDs as light sources, a liquid cooling system, and a control unit to control the light source unit to be turned on. The liquid cooling system can include a heat receiving jacket, a radiator, a circulation pump and a fan. The light source unit and the control unit can be disposed with the heat receiving jacket of the liquid cooling system interposed therebetween. Further, one surface of the control unit can be brought in close contact with the heat receiving jacket while a heat radiation portion (e.g., fins or pins) can be provided at an other surface of the control unit.

Whereas incandescent light bulbs and other similar light sources known in the related art emit light in all directions, LED lamps can emit light in a single direction, and this is manifested in the problem of being unable to achieve light distribution characteristics satisfied by conventional headlamp designs. In accordance with an embodiment of the presently disclosed subject matter, an LED lamp for a light source of a headlamp can include an LED chip in the vicinity of the focus of a projection means and a shielding member covering a portion of the LED chip in a formation allowing a light distribution characteristic suitable for a vehicle front-illumination light to be obtained when light from the LED chip is magnified and projected in an illumination direction by a projection lens or the like constituting the projection means. Accordingly, accurate light distribution characteristics can be obtained in a simple manner by projecting in the illumination direction using the projection lens.

LED lamp for light source

A vehicle lamp including a projector headlight using an LED light source for a low beam can include a shade, an LED light source, an ellipsoidal reflector and a projector lens. Both a focus of the projector lens and a top edge of the shade can be located near a second focus of the reflector. The LED light source can be located near a first focus located below the second focus of the reflector. Therefore, light emitted from the LED light source can be effectively gathered near the focus of the projector lens via the reflector and can be projected via the projector lens with high light use-efficiency. The projector lens can include light dispersing portions or structures on an upside and downside thereof for reducing chromatic aberration. Thus, the lamp can project a favorable light distribution that can conform to light distribution standards for vehicle headlights and the like.

A vehicle lamp can include a plurality of light source modules each having an LED as a light source, and optical systems for distributing light from each of the light source modules frontward toward predetermined areas or predetermined patterns that are different from each other and which make up a light distribution pattern. Each of the optical systems can be optimized to emit light to a predetermined area, and each of the light source modules' LEDs can be optimally arranged for each of the corresponding optical systems.

An LED lamp can be used as a light source of a lighting device. The LED lamp can be combined with a reflecting mirror formed as a paraboloid of revolution, to obtain desired light distribution characteristics, as with a conventional light source. The emission surface of the LED lamp for the light source of the lighting device can be rectangular, and the ratio between a short side and a long side thereof is set in a range of 1:2 to 1:6. Therefore, it is possible to form a light distribution pattern similar to that of a filament, which is conventionally used as an emission source. It is also possible to use almost all light emitted from the LED lamp as illumination light.

An LED lighting fixture is provided which achieves effective use of light, uniformly illuminates a large area and, has a high degree of freedom in designing light distribution characteristics. Three types of LED optical modules are used each having different light distribution characteristics. Each LED optical module includes an LED light source and a light distribution controlling lens of a different shape which constitute an optical system. Three types of LED optical units having different light distribution characteristics can be used. Each LED optical unit includes a set of LED optical modules having the same light distribution characteristics. The LED lighting fixture is configured to have a combination of the LED optical units having different light distribution characteristics.

A vehicle lamp can include a plurality of light sources and reflective surfaces in various combinations. Each light source can include at least one LED array that includes or consists of LED chips arranged in a row. Each reflective surface can be arranged in combination with a light source to generate a certain light distribution pattern. Two to twelve or more such combinations of light sources and reflective surfaces can be employed. The lights having light distribution patterns generated from the combinations can be combined to form an overall light distribution pattern.

A lamp, an optical module, a vehicle headlight, and a method for controlling a color tone of the same can be configured to ensure visibility of the surroundings of a vehicle on a wet road in rainy weather, in dense fog, and on a snowpacked road, for example. The lamp can include a first LED chip which emits blue light, a second LED chip which emits light with a different color from blue. A wavelength conversion layer can be provided in front of light emitting areas of the first and second LED chips in an emitting direction, and can include a wavelength conversion material. A driving control unit can be configured to drive and control the first and second LED chips. The optical module can be configured to include the lamp along with optical components, such as a reflector. A vehicle headlight can include a plurality of optical modules. The control unit can be configured to control the ratio of light from the first and second LED chips, thereby obtaining light of a desired color.

Lamp, optical module, vehicle headlight including the same, and method for controlling color tone of emitted light

Multiple light emitting device modules can be configured to illuminate in multiple different directions, while avoiding deterioration of radiation efficiency by use of fins. In a lighting fixture, multiple light emitting device modules can each have fins for radiating heat generated by the light emitting device. The multiple light emitting device modules can be arranged in such a manner that a main optical axis line of one light emitting device module and main optical axis lines of any other light emitting device modules form an angle larger than zero degrees, or are in a skewed position, and the fins can be arranged in such a manner that all the fins are parallel with respect to a vertical plane and roots of the fins are positioned at the same level as or lower than tips of the fins.
