This invention provides a halogen-containing thermoplastic resin composition comprising a halogen-containing thermoplastic resin (A), a melt-moldable vinyl alcohol polymer (B) and a polyesteramide (C), the proportions of (B) and (C) being 0.1 to 100 parts by weight and 0.1 to 10 parts by weight, respectively, based on 100 parts by weight of (A). The component (C) improves the compatibility between the components (A) and (B).

This invention provides a halogen-containing thermoplastic resin composition comprising a halogen-containing thermoplastic resin (A) consisting of 100 to 0.1 weight percent of a thermoplastic polyurethane-vinyl chloride graft polymer (a1) with a polyurethane content of 10 to 90 weight percent which is produced by polymerizing vinyl chloride in the presence of a thermoplastic polyurethane and 0 to 99.9 weight percent of another halogen-containing polymer (a2) and a melt-moldable vinyl alcohol polymer (B), the proportion of melt-moldable vinyl alcohol polymer (B) being in the range of 0.1 to 100 parts by weight to 100 parts by weight of halogen-containing thermoplastic resin (A).

Ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer is blended with polyetheramide block copolymer to form a novel composition of matter. The blended composition can be extruded and/or coextruded to make packaging films. In the most preferred embodiments, the blend is contained as one layer in a film comprising a multiplicity of layers, and at least the blend layer is molecularly oriented. Methods of making the films are also disclosed.

A process for forming a film of hydrolyzed ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer employing a mixed solvent of water, at least one member selected from the group consisting of propyl alcohol, butyl alcohol and benzyl alcohol, and at least one member selected from the group consisting of formic acid, an alkyl formate, acetic actid, an alkyl acetate, dimethylsulfoxide and N-methylpyrrolidone as a solvent for the copolymer. The composition has an improved melt-moldability, and provides molded articles having remarkably reduced fish eyes and uniform thickness or excellent dimensional stability.

C.
